Great video, as always. Have you guys ever considered using practical effects for the rocket/bomb hits? They're fairly easy to create. Basically all they are is a small 1/4 or 1/2 pound charge of black powder in a paper container, buried under about a foot of loose, dry soil. They're very simple and incredibly realistic if done properly, and about as close to the real thing as one can get before things become dangerous, haha. They're quite common in commercial film production, and there's a few tutorials here on youtube.

Excellent as always. This might amuse you: In the spring of 2005, I deployed to Afghanistan as one of the first Army units to wear the new ACU digital pattern. I was taken to visit an Afghan minister (which ministry I won't say for security reasons) but the man had been a muj during the Soviet Afghan War. He took one look at my uniform, grinned, and said, "Ah, Spetznaz!" I thought, "Thanks, US Army," and never wore the ACUs outside the wire again, relying on my DCUs from a previous tour.

The coolness factor of this was off the chart man! Please keep doing the scenario videos, they get better and better. I guess we have to realize that a dull color scheme like Coyote Brown, Olive Drab even though "solid" and hot a fancy "pattern" is effective at blending into the environment. Thanks again Brent this was amazing!

What an awesome intro! The lighter color was easier to spot in that environment, but considering he was usually not even behind foliage, it was excellent. Which one I was able to see depended on the amount of light hitting it, since there was not much vegetation. The darker often appeared to be another log or shadow. Thanks for sharing, keep up the good work!

      maybe no
there is a trick with a RPG - if you stay this cap on the rocket, it will explode with some delay. For example, you need to destroy the wall on a some building. you shoot an rpg-arrow with a cap and it sticks within a wall. and ONLY then explode
Without cap it explode when facing a wall (outside, NOT inside)

In all the scenes, I was able to pick out one of you. Your soft "boonie" type hat was a dead give away. In others, the solid color helmet was. I was quite surprised by both. I'm sure in the Trashcannistan (as my middle daughter called it in 2012-13) environment either would have worked well. As a Civil War reenactor I can't speak much to the benefits of camouflage. As a Confederate Marine Infantryman our white pants were of little use to us while deployed as skirmishers.... Thanks for this video. I, as many in our country these days, are preparing for what we hope will never happen. This is good training. Keep it up. Oorah!

This reminds me of 9 ROTA (9th Company), one of my favorite movies. Especially the basic training phase, it's like the Russian/Soviet equivalent Full Metal Jacket. Even down to the detail that Soviet Paratroopers are to the regular Red Army what US Marines are to the US Army.
I wrote my Bachelor's History thesis on the Soviet-Afghan war, comparing it to Vietnam. Specifically, I looked at the nature of drug use by the troops. They always say "Afghanistan was the Soviet Union's Vietnam." Is that true? Well, what does it even mean to be "a Vietnam?" There's a lot of criteria for that; like the much larger, richer, more powerful, more technologically advanced nation with the bigger military unexpectedly loosing, very asymmetric warfare, deep cultural shock/division that impacts the outcome, etc. One obvious criteria seems to be that the nation having "a Vietnam" has extraordinary difficulty with it's soldiers getting high or wasted when they shouldn't be as well as addiction in the war-zone and on returning home. I analyzed what substances were used, how much, how often, by who, the affects on the nation's home population as soldiers returned addicted at X%, and most importantly "why?". The minimum was 20-25 double spaced pages; I wrote 52 and still don't think I covered everything or did justice to the topic. A lot of it just had to do with clarifying the nature of various substances, addiction, human behavior, etc. When I've got my doctorate in Military History I plan to expand it into a book, because despite my best efforts I couldn't find any scholarly work that compared the two conflicts in this dimension. Or even systematically covered the topic of drug use by soldiers for either of the wars (beyond a few short articles, one of which I thoroughly refuted with raw evidence from survivor's memoirs, best primary sources IMO). Most of my evidence came from going though whole sources like documentaries, memoirs, histories, journalist reports, even the famous movies of each nation, etc and waiting for the topic I was researching to come up so it could be logged and some kind of comparison could be made. Most people could just get a half dozen books and couple articles and call it good. I went through 50 or so. I figured, "that's ok, because to understand such a detailed question and answer I'd have to know the wars themselves as well as possible anyways. It's just a matter of course."
Some of the most depressing shit I ever learned in my life was while researching that paper - it changed me and my beliefs. I've gone through several times more information since graduating. I'm a historian and a voter in a Democracy, I take my responsibility to remember this stuff very seriously. Someone has to, and I hope to teach it as a profession. I owe it to those who will trust to my knowledge and academic authority, and even more to the very real people, many of whom are still alive, to get it as right as I can. Thanks for helping me better imagine and understand the conflict in a way most other sources just don't.
PS, if you or anyone knows any sources you think would be good, please reply to me and I will add them to my research list. If you yourself have any relevant information and want to conduct an interview etc, that'd be awesome. If you just reply as "some guy on youtube" I obviously can't cite you as a source, but if I can tell you're the real deal it does help me to hear your memories and impressions. I trust no trolls are so lame and eager to steal glory they will waste my time.

I always feel that we use the term “there Vietnam” because that’s what we know to describe a war like that, a French person could say “Vietnam was America’s Algeria” or the Dutch could say “Vietnam was America’s Indonesia” just for a grinding gorilla war that the opposing government for whatever reason can’t, political, financial whatever can’t maintain, from what I understand those became more common after the ww2 because of decolonization and proxy wars, but I wouldn’t say you have to lose to compare a war to Vietnam, I always compare the Vietnam war for America to the boar war for the British in the late 1890s and the early 1900s. A war fought on really nothing but purely imperialistic principles that the high command thought would be easy, that then descended into bloody drawn out gorilla warfare which could only be won by brutality that shocked the world, how hard it was to beat mostly minimally trained militiamen mixed with the war crimes committed by the invading forces damaged the invading country’s reputation around the world both for breaches of humanity and the perception of the strength of there military and even though they were relatively small conflicts all things considered became famously unpopular and regrettable and showed deep cracks in what was thought to be nigh unstoppable army’s. Also changed society drastically the boer war was usually considered one of the main factors of the end of the Victorian era (Obviously the British won eventually and the Americans lost but I think the point still stands)

That was a damned good intro battle! I actually think the standard solid color is just as effective as the mottled camo. The colors are good, they’d be better with a few dark gray vertical stripes, & the mottled needs a bit of lighter brown also. Just my opinion…..🤷🏽‍♂️

  • @Timotheus157

Camo good. Camo must match environment. Use nature's clothing like branches with leaves, mud, or dry/dusty dirt. Use natural cover at all times. Travel in zigzag or unpredictable patterns. Stay low. Think about snipers everywhere and move accordingly. Thick trees, logs, boulders, mounds of dirt, etc. are good. A good soldier lives to see another day. A good enemy never wins.

You work is always high signal:noise and unique for YouTard videos. One constructive observation, if you can recall the scene in Red Dawn with Patrick Swayze late into the invasion. He's sitting on a rock emoting to a picture of him and Tiger Blood Sheen as kids. His overwhites are clean, his hair is fresh blow dried and that RPK he's holding just came out of a set armorer's clean room. You didn't notice it in '84, but now with HD recording and displays it has a fakeness to it, too clean.
Don't be afraid to run your weapons through the mud, blood and the beer before a take.
As always, much respect for bringing the good info.

Great intro. You can soon start "Brent Studios" or "B&B Studios" from "Texwood", Northern Texas, to compete with the Californian guys, from this little town, that noone, except extreme movie nerds, has really heard about anyway? :o)
This KZS camo actually works so vell, despite being mostly dark green, I remember, that I was so surprised after the "winter" version of the first test of this. Also cool with the long distance footage. Many camouflage reviews leave that out, and people seem to forget, at how short distances actually, that specially micro camo patterns begin to blur into some kind of "average solid/ single/ mono" color. (Or how to say it precisely? :o) )
This is fun to watch, so nice to hear, that you guys also have fun, and hopefully plan to do more of this kind in different ways?? :o) Nice day no matter what!!
(I think, that I have linked before, but some Russian and Soviet stuff, and reproduction stuff can be found in eg. these Russian shops, eg. a reproduction of the original Gorka suit from that 1979 - 1988 (?) Afghan war. Mostly for "airsofters" maybe but all interested of cause also. (Also a review here, of this Gorka, for the interested: th-cam.com/video/u6P6BaBi1iY/w-d-xo.html&t )
    grey-shop.ru/Camouflage/Russian-Combat-Uniform , armada-store.com/ , specialrussianshop.com , thesovietrussia.com . Sometimes some of them have good, reduced sales prices.
Also some links to Russian companies making Russian tactical stuff, specially for those interested in particular, rare, not exported camouflages maybe?? I guess, that maybe these mentioned shops can be persuaded into making a "special order", to buy and ship some particular, desired items abroad, to another country, even if they do not have it in the stores, on a regular basis, but maybe not, of cause, but they have e-mails of cause, so easy to ask??: bars-voenmag.ru , sso-mil.ru , anatactical.ru , tactic-9.ru/index.php?module=catalog , voentorg-avtor.ru , srvv.store , kamuflage.ru/en/odezhda.html , there are several others of cause, but these ones I could find fast and easy. Just for the curious.
Translators: translate.google.com , translate.yandex.com Currency converter to see Russian market prices, without export/import fees and so, if it is?: www.currency-converter.com , www.xe.com/currencyconverter/
