    My favorite part about going in the military was getting out.
    But in all seriousness it’s an absolute life changer and for me it was mostly in the best ways. I’d go back if I could. I deployed in 2017 to the same area my uncle did back in 2008 both as machine gunners too funny enough. it’s a small world but so much comes from it, stories, memories and arguably the people who become your brothers and sisters. That’s a blessing you won’t find anywhere else truly.

      @captaincatmint1996 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@samj306 yes. The real answer to it is, everyone who signs up, has what’s called an obligation. So say you do 4 years and wanna get out, as long as you reenlist within the next 4 years before your 8 year obligation is up, you can go right back in without retraining or anything more than likely. I got out in 2019, my 8 years were up this September so if I re-enlisted now, I’d have to retake everything I ever did like the first time.

If you do more than one enlistment in the Air Force you can transfer your GI bill to dependents. IE, have 2 kids, give them each 2yrs of a 4yr GI bill. Another word of advice, unless it’s Ivey league most jobs don’t care where your degree came from.
      Home loan I recommend buying a home, stay in it one year, refinance and rent it out, then you buy another home using your GI bill again, rinse and repeat. Last recommendation, use your GI Bill to educate yourself, build up your income to the point where you can pay for your kids college.

However, "soft skill" jobs(MOS) usually don't go crazy with PT like the combat units have to. If you like to travel and want the best benefits I would recommend the Air Force or the Navy but if ship life isn't for you or you have a hard time getting into the Air Force or they don't have any positions you are interested in the Army is about 97-98% support jobs most of which transfer to the civilian sector but if you want to get into firefights and blow shit up the Army and Marines is the place for that too, obviously. Marines have overall better duty stations being on the coasts as well as Japan, Australia, ect. The Army has more posts stateside but they are in places like Kentucky, Texas, North Carolina, Georgia, Colorado, to name a few. Figure out what branch appeals to you the most and go talk to a recruiter. They will guide you the rest of the way.

Rent went up 140% in my area in a year and my already check to check life style could not continue. I even was granted the max from fasfa because of my up bringing and still with only having to pay 400 a semester or so and 1600 a month for a one bed plus gas food utilities, call it a even 2300. My classes are so tough I can only work 4 days a week while not letting grades drop, I was a carpenter. I did improve my situation slightly by getting my home improvement license and paying 300 to get a LLC to be a contractor. Work less make more but it’s a whole other headache tax, dealing with customers … it ain’t like you work for your self at all you work for whoever is your customer at the time.

Instead you are being forced to pay for the DFAC whether you eat there or not. Hey man I'm doing the enlightening Test sometime this week actually and then if I hopefully pass I'm off to BCT and hopefully I'll only do a 3yr contract in mos 12w for my first term. I'm really banking on all the benefits that I can get as I'm just 18yrs old and that I can actually get a VA Home loan to buy a house in my home in New York Queens. So yeah idk if joining at 18 is the best life decision or not but I wanted to help myself and my mom and that's about it, so thanks for all the info as I Definitely need to save alot of money lol

      Move out of NY, the place is a shithole and way too expensive. I don’t know if they allow 3 year contracts, I’m pretty sure 4 as active is the minimum. I wish you luck though, be chill with your battle buddies and you will be fine if ur in semi decent shape/have a strong mentality.

      @stephenasmith273 thanks I definitely will and yeah they have 3yr contracts that allow me to get full benefits, and then I can do 5yrs part time while trying for a college degree in something hopefully, but thanks for the advice 😄

    I’m 1 year into college and I’m wondering if it would’ve been better to go to the military. Not too happy with the school I’m attending just bc I can’t afford to go to a better school, I had to transfer from a big Uni to a priv small college

    I still don’t get the tuition part, so you said every physical year I get 4k off a year Can it be more off instead of 4k? I want to go to my first choice college that is around 45k on 1.5 years

    All materialistic things with the very low price of YOUR LIFE! Same thing as joining the Illuminati to be a rapper or actor etc. 😂

      It’s not like you’re forced to join 🤡 You can’t have all the nice shit and benefits without putting in the work, it’s the military. also At least we do what we love, (even though we have awful days in the infantry) we don’t live miserable lives caught up in the rat race making a buck, going home sleep and repeat.

    with a 2 year 6 month enlistment you think it’s possible to save 1k a month for 30 months

      Most definitely. Just make sure you don’t have a lot of bills. Obviously if you have $2k in bills and if you make only 2k u won’t be able to save. So just make sure you cut out the unnecessary bills and be smart with money and you can save that without a doubt
