Reflector is likely required by law. Best check on that.

Great video! I just baked mine. 15 minuets was too long and warped my clear lense on the first one I tried. About 8 minuets worked perfect for the second one
Excellent job you really have great talent. I need to get my Dodge ram tail lights painted not sure which way to go, though my truck is bright white.
Tried doing mine on my 11 silverado, heated it with a heat gun and deformed the lense, cracked it also 😂 gonna throw the next set in the oven when they get here in a few days
NOTE: Laws dictate the color and placement of lighting and reflectors on a vehicle. Not all colors are legal. Not all states are the same. Do the research. Amber and Red are allowed in all 50. Headlights must be white. Reflectors must be placed in certain locations. Again, do the research. It could save you a ticket, or, save someone's life.

Were there any steps in between the sanding of the lens and the clearcoat? How did you get it smooth and shiny?

Sand the lens, tape your lines, spray your primer and base coat first, then gently take off your tape and spray the whole thing with clear

i have a 2023 kia sportage and i HATE the orangish hue of the LED factory taillights. HOW CAN I MAKE THEM MORE BLOOD RED like mercedes and AUDI? should i take the lens outer lens off like you did and use that red transparent paint from the autoparts store? what would u do or can i hire u to somehow do a REDOUT job?? the problem is they must use white leds instead of red so the red plastic comes out more orange. it sucks.

Definitley I’ll have to make some vids! I’m still building my arsenal of paint equipment as I can afford it and as I sell / build more tail lights and paint more often. But Definitley in the future will do that.

I highly recommend opening with heat gun instead of oven now. Almost all tails will be the same

I followed this video and I put the oven on 250 for 15 minutes and before even touching the tail light the lens was deformed, any way to fix that?
Every tail light and oven is different , sadly there’s no way to fix a deformed lense. I actually don’t use a oven anymore I have a newer updated video on how to open tail lights.

Yes painting any chrome “bucket” or “reflective area” “bowl” where the bulb sits and reflects out of will greatly effect light output ! Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

You need to make sure you cover the bulb hole with tape to prevent what you did.... Getting overspray INSIDE the lens.... It will look like crap !
Yessir I actually spray the lenses completely separated now off the housing. Good eye , took me multiple sets to learn what was causing the milky-ness inside of them. Sometimes it was only on certain ones some worse then others. Drove me crazy. Lol. Thanks for watching.

I bought set of spydee tail light for my 01 Silverado and a row of led and the running light does not work. Is there a way I can fix it
Not that I know of without swapping out to a new led mother board maybe. Not sure on that one man sorry.

After you spray the base on the outside of the taillight. Do you leave the rest of the lease still scuffed and then spray clear over the scuffed up lense?
Yessir so steps would be as follow. Scuff complete lense with 1200-1500 grit sand paper whichever you’ve got handy. Then mask off the surround, spray it all. Peel off tape, then clear coat complete lense.

They would have to be cut. But it wouldn’t do any good to cut them open because the lense is red. All you can do is smoke & paint exterior lense. If you painted insides it would still be red.

Why did you cut the wires? You could've just un-pined the wires from the connector and removed the grommet.
Cheap connectors pins just break when you un pin them. Have tried on multiple sets and always have to end up hard wiring resistors. So much easier to cut brother.
Well I can def assure it dosent work as well with some brands as I purchased a set for my 04 dodge ram and yes they did come apart well but the lense was f*ckd lol I understand he specified the make and model truck lights but figured I'd give it a go on mine . Everything was fine except the lense it sagged into the shape of the inside of the light. Melted at 220 for 10 min. So just for reference it's not for all cheap led tails if I knew how to add a few pics I would to show . So not a huge loss but 100 bucks . I believe I may just cut the next ones lol

Should not be setting them on bare metal set them on a piece of cardboard that's what I do everytime and I set my oven at 275 once it hits 275 I turn the oven off and put my light in for 8 minutes and then take them out and I only do one at a time but setting them on bare metal can melt them
I’ve not had any issues but definitely agree with ya! Recommend sitting them on something definitely a lot safer.
