The end of that where it's dark, and you're just seeing the lava spewing out all over the place, I could watch that for hours.
Crazy images, when you saw the bottom of the crater from the ash clouds it was chilling, all unbelievable!
Yes, even experts and professionals can get it wrong on occasion, as these guys did. If they're lucky, they get away unhurt but with a Hell of a fright. If they're not, tragedy ensues, has has happened a number of times in the past...
So true. I still remember the tragic tale of Maurice and Katia Krafft back in 1991.
@@trebornewo3354 Yes, anyone who has an interest in volcanoes will now about them. Less well known is that a US volcanologist dies with them, a man called Harry Glicken. What makes his death so ironic was that, up until the the night before May 18th 1981 he was manning the observation station at Mt St Helens, and was given a leave of absence to travel to Santa Barbara for a meeting on the 18th. His immediate supervisor, David Johnston, took over his duties, and Johnston was killed when the volcano erupted. It seems Harry Glicken was fated to meet his end by volcano, and what Mt St Helens couldn't take, Mt Unzen did.
Great footage guys, please stay safe ! this looks way more dangerous than two recent eruptions in Iceland I have been to
That was a close one!
What a sound this most be up there on the crater.
That Volcano's Beautiful! Thanks
A word of advice. You need another piece of equipment...car floor mats. The carpet ones work best. They can be put under your tires to get unstuck. Back vehicle up, put them under the front of tires, drive on them then pick them up. They compress any soil, sand, mud, snow and mush which is especially good driving back out
Great trip guys, thanks for sharing!
In May 2013 I was in Vanuatu for a month and spent week on Tanna. I also got some great shots. Im glad to see others who don't ive a life of fear but dare to do things most people won't. I am one of those people
I remember visiting Tanna around 10 years ago, staying in the village at Mt Yasur's base. That whole area seemed much more geologically stable back then (even though it was still constantly erupting). Exhilarating times sat on the crater rim at dusk watching the three vents in action. That experience will stay with me forever.
The following show inspired my visit: th-cam.com/video/hOQWJdETud8/w-d-xo.html
