Do an obstacle course with bino harness on and binos and see which binos get the least dust , water , mud and scratches on them. Have a comp with Jake web and Josh Jones through same course looking at predetermined land marks at each checkpoint.
Nice review. I've tested Marsupial, Badlands, Sitka (gen2), Eberlestock, MuleyFreak, and others. In my opinion, Eberlestock Recon is #1 and Sitka is #2. Why? The wings on the side are more robust and stable for molle attachments. And, the open and close on all the Eberlestock modules are the best. Again, just one guy's opinion. You asked for comments. There you go. :)
I had the Stone Glacier bino harness pull tab fail on me the first trip out I took it on. I messaged SG about it with pics, and they sent me a brand new one with express shipping. Cant beat that support!
Milkweed for a windicator. Keep the powder as a backup but milkweed is by far a better way at reading the wind. Powder disperses quickly, the milkweed you can watch float for quite awhile and really show you if the wind is swirling. Powder doesn't really show wind swirl well.
Commenting before watching the video - Marsupial gear is the one for me. I used to run a Mystery Ranch (the old style) and just recently switched to Marsupial. The stretch material, magnets and supreme build quality really do it for me.
I’ve ran the marsupial, badlands, kuiu. And the kuiu I would take any day over the other for fit and cost it can’t be beat. I would like to try the Muley freak, kifaru, and Eberlestock. Always to many options and most to all are great! Love the content man!
I have the Kifaru Harness. I made my own pink teather by braiding some paracord, so that's now not an issue. It's super comfy, low profile, and I've used it where it was raining a lot all day and the inside was perfectly dry. Brilliant product! I want to get that Kifaru rangefinder pouch to match it.
I've ran Kuiu, Marsupial, and Outdoor Vision Gear. Outdoor Vision Gear is the most slept on harness on the market. Built in the USA with as good or better quality as any mentioned here. Plus the lid flipping open and being its own little holding tray is perfect for tree stand hunting and glassing sessions to set your phone/snack/accessories/etc. With that said Marsupial is great as well and Kuiu is just a small step down IMO.
Oregon Pack Works makes a quiet, simple, light bino harness. That's my favorite so far. Anything with magnets I tend to stay away from because of interference with a compass, gps, etc.
I run the marsupial and I’m definitely glad they include the bino protection clips bc my binos have definitely fallen out when I’ve bent over a few times.
A couple considerations important to pretty much any backwoods hunter. 1. Noise... anyone who has run the complimentary glasspak from vortex knows what I'm talking about. Very loud to open or close. It also is noisy while moving. 2. Water wicking ability (which you touched on briefly) the more material they have, the higher potential they have for yapping moisture and condensing your optics. For me, the FHF can't be beat. I've been wearing one for about 3 or 4 years now. They check all the boxes that are important to me. Great review, Tim. Keep it up.
Nice vid Tim. I have been down this road . I ditched the Marsupial because of the magnets, I’ll never run them again as they interfered with my compass. I sent the Kifaru back. I didn’t like the open or close, plus it did not fully enclose my binos leaving a gap on the side for debris to get into. I’ll be running my Stone for the 3rd year in a row. It has been pretty bomb proof. It’s waterproof, low pro, light weight, very minmal, and truly one had open and close: I put about 30 plus days a year in the woods and it has stood up. It’s been to Alaska, open country, and the thick nasties of N ID. I have minor issues with it and will run it again this year.
The issue I have with fold under vs. magnetic...I want the harness to be quiet. Rustling around with the fold under sure seemed loud. With magnetic I have found that if you have a bunch of stuff in that front pocket, don't expect it to magnetically stay open. The marsupial is super quiet for me, which is my primary need. The fact it protects like crazy is nice. I just put it in my backpack with all my optics in it when I am traveling to/from the hunting property.
I assume this qualifies as a chest baby - but I’m a fan of the badlands xr harness. No extra pouches hanging everywhere. Very clean design that doesn’t snag or tangle. Holds my binos up top, full draw 5 below, windicator in the left pocket, and uv button in the right. Can even stick a sub compact in the rear pocket. Last year - final day of whitetail season. Trying to fill a doe tag. Was using the vortex chest harness with my rangefinder shoved between my chest and the pack. Ended up getting my truball short n sweet’r wrist release tangled in the rangefinder’s strap and was busted while trying to free the release. That experience drew me to the badlands harness. It has survived OK, TN, CO, and SD TACs and many trips up and down trees placing cams. Other than a bit of dirt it still looks brand new.
Just ordered the Stone Glacier based on your review! I’ve used Rick Young for years but wanted something to keep the dew and rain off my glass. I purchased an extra rangefinder pocket to hopefully store my phone in 🤷🏻♂️ thanks for the review!
Marsupial for me. I run a gun holster attached under my binos. And for the extra effort to wrap the lid underneath you can push the lid down onto the magnets.
Couple questions. 1- what about emberlestock? 2- is there away to carry a pistol for when your in bear county? 3- what doe you think about the Bono’s that also range for less on the chest and to keep up with?
This hurts my feelings a little. I ran the Marsupial Gear “no mag” last year. It was awesome having the adjustable elastic strap to keep the flap in place where ever you want to put it. I ended up giving it to my dad to take on a trip to Africa earlier this summer and ordering another one. I accidentally ordered one with the magnetic enclosure and was immediately concerned about the flap not staying out in the open position. This confirms my fears.
I think marsupial is my favorite because it’s very durable somewhat water repellant and it’s a slim and simple design and mine stays shut. I have no complaints
Same here. Went to the factory in Phoenix and met Jeff Graham, the owner. Purchased a medium with range finder and tall utility pouch in black. Love it!! Very comfortable and does the job.
I think for 1 handed operations, protecting your equipment, and additional attachments, marsupial gear and eberlestock have the best harnesses. I went with marsupial gear and have no regrets
Would like to see you take each one and see how far forward you can lean with them open before the binos fall out. It's the one great I have with marsupial, but I've got the older non-enclosed version. Also how loud is the stone Glacier? I think they're supposed to be waterproof
The SG is really good but after running it for 4 years I've had a couple issues. If your top closure flap is too tight the plastic tube that keeps its form/structure will wear a hole through the two corners of the flap, not a huge deal but I've had to patch mine. The other issue, because of its minimalist design the neck webbing has no padding and can rub on your skin so if your not wearing a hood or buff it can be annoying. Otherwise its a great product.
I just recently did my first video and did a bino harness review. I didn't have the stone glacier but Sitka by far is my favorite. I factored in quietness because I mainly hunt whitetails in the south. Definitely check out the Sitka harness!
I have the Sitka bino harness. It was one of the only ones that I found that included webbing so I could attach a chest holster. I hate the straps on it though since they are thin and easily get twisted. Better strap system like on the Alaskan Guide would make it perfect.
Sweet! I’ve been using sitkas mtn harness and Kuiu up here in SE AK. Dislike the pockets on the Kuiu. Wish the front pocket was better and wish there was a back pocket. Really like the sitka. When it’s rut I can roll around with everything I need in just my harness. Downside is you need to wear it under rain gear. The Kuiu wets out from the Velcro on the bottom and wicks up inside. Been using the stone for my rangefinder to test it. Stone was the only one I could wear outside of my rain gear on a downpour day. Not many places like here tho😂
The kifaru is sweet, but if you run a razco holster attached to the Molly webbing then you’re not gonna be able to keep the lid open. I have the stone glacier and love it. Nice video Tim, was considering getting a marsupial but I’m gonna stick with the stone glacier now. You made a solid point on the lid.
@@TimConnor13 TC, not sure if like it better until I use it more at the moment, I like the way it opens slightly better and having slightly more pockets for calls, windicator, and my handheld release. I loved the minimalist design of the SG so time will tell which I like better.
I have the standard vortex bino harness. Came with my diamondback HD 10x42. The price with bino? You can't complain, but I'm gonna. The flap opens in your face which can become annoying at times. The liner on the inside is really slick! So if you don't run the insurance straps and you keep the lid unhooked. They will slide right out on you bending over. Annoying! I have been curious about the other harnesses! Idk if I will switch yet! But one day for sure I will. Thank you for the video Tim keep fighting the good fight brother! Great job on the muley!!!!!!
You forgot the Kuiu Bino harness. I checked out all of these and Kuiu was the best system overall in my opinion. Has almost all the key features you spoke of, all in one package.
Love vid Tim I run marsupial but I can’t get it up on my chest as high as I like. I run out of adjustment . I would like to see a review on the first lite one . I know u can’t review all of them. Love the review !
Tim great reviews on these! I would love to see you do something different that’s out there. Nobody discusses Muley Freak, the Sitka harness which I personally use, and maybe toss in a harness from Badlands?
Good video Tim, I’ve run both Marsupial and most recently the Stone Glacier harness. It’s also important to note that the Stone harness is customizable to your binoculars size. Agree that it’s very light weight and great specially for the early season hunt when it’s hot. Protection, Stone does a great job to protect the binos but also consider Vortex warranty as a huge plus if something happens to them.
My thoughts exactly. My bino harness is for keeping my optics clean more than protected. I think a harness should be comfortable and lite. It only has to protect the binoculars until the end of the season and it's off to Vortex if repairs are needed.
Tried a lot of different ones, settled on the Marsupial and I’m not turning back. Have it set up just like yours, plus the holster and hand warmer muff. I’ve never had that problem with the magnets not catching on mine when opening.
Good video man. I liked the Kifaru as well. I run the smaller sized X op harness from Horn Hunter, for my Vortex 8x42s. Made in the USA and has been really good to me on Elk hunt in CO and for whitetails here back east. Quality, sleek harness. Sub $100 option for folks. ✌️🇺🇸
Have you had any experience with the marsupial no-mag enclosed bino harness? I'm just wondering how it compares to the magnetic one that everyone seems to have.
I haven't tried a whole lot, but i started with the vortex glass pac(shit), I've tried on the badlands and Alaskan. I ended up running the Kuiu its amazingly comfortable and I like customization, I also am kind of biased since I wear the kuiu verde camo already. I'd be curious to see what you thought of that one
I think You can go the same with FIELD QUIVERs. I got one from Kifaru and Marsupial and there are different filosophies, designs with them and curious how You feel them, if the same order of producers :)
Was cruising the harness market looking at kifaru getting that shipped up to Canada 🤨we get slapped by the time we pay exchange and shipping $310 plus taxes after it crosses the border
I had never even heard of stone glacier. My top 3 are Alaska Guide Creations Eberlestock And Marsupial Currently running an Alaska Guide Creations Ravus Bino harness. It’s been my favorite so far as far as comfort is concerned. Especially when I wear the hydration pack that connects to the Bino harness
On the kifaru with ur phone in that front pocket when u open the lid will the phone fit in there if u close the lid? What size Binos and what size phone?
Marsupial gear looks the business but, as an Australian, an American owned and American made company using a Kangaroo as their logo makes me feel weird…
Back from my first hunt.. it was a heck of an adventure! Excited to share with ya’ll.. coming into the Fall any vid ideas you’d like to see?

For low profile I have really liked the kuiu pro. I have looked at and tried on others but keep going back to my kuiu, maybe because im used to it.
Same. Love the Kuiu pro bino system
With the price of everything nowadays I’ll be resorting to Walmart bags as my chest pack

I love badlands. They're warranty is awesome. For someone just in the whitetail woods in the northeast, they're products work great

Never heard of stone glacier. Should have included Alaska Guide Creations since they are the original bino harness
T&K HuntingGear bino harness is my go to. I like I can add or subtract pockets. All the ones you show are awesome.

I just got a T&K bino harness in the mail the other day. Veteran owned and operated business. I haven’t gotten to shoot with it on yet.
Eberlestock has a really good bino harness too, for a little bit cheaper than the Marsupial. I’m planning on ordering one in the next month or so.
I had the Eberlestock Recon and loved it until the FHF FOB came out.
Marsupial made in the USA and lifetime warranty.
Shoulder straps that are wide help protect you during longer ware. That light one looked like it was cutting into your shoulder.
I prefer the mesh back on the Stone. It just makes it easier to take it on and off, plus it adds comfort.

I went with Alaskan guide the original made in USA. I love it looked at everyone of them.
How’s it working out for you? I’ve been seriously interested in their harnesses.
Only thing I don’t like is it opens towards your chest. That and I bought a vortex branded one because I didn’t know who made them.
And they tend to sit lower than I would like.
