    Mr. Doane, I am an adult in my third year of studying the cello. Could you please produce a video on Unit 2 of your cello ergonomics: Left hand warm ups. It would be very helpfull when studying your exercices. Best wishes

    I so appreciate these techniques. They are sometimes not addressed on the tips and tricks to playing even on simple notes or bowing

    I found motion of spiral (tai chi) in your bowing. I will try it. I spent 8 year for tai chi.
    Many thanks.

    That is a beautiful cello, could tell just by looking that it would sound amazing and it does. Played beautifully too.

    Terrific video for any cellist of any standard. And yet... Even with the best technique, the perfect angles, the most fluid motion, the most relaxed hand actions and the most pricy equipment, this damn instrument will STILL produce bum notes! Perhaps a healthy, philosophical attitude to 'perfection' is just as essential as a perfect technique for cellists haha

    I love your videos!!! can you tell me what the pointer finger position thingy on your bow is? I have been looking for something like that since I broke my pointer finger years ago and have a difficult time with it's possition

    This is great, thanks. One thing that isn't mentioned is that the pattern is dependent upon the bowing direction -- so crossing from G string to D using a down-bow is anticlockwise, however, the same crossing with an up-bow is clockwise. Or am I mistaken?

    I love the sound of your strings. I have spent several hundred dollars on new strings that I do not like and I can't seem to find what I like. What are you using? To me the strings sound how I like

      @ChubsEverlasting yeh tone of strings usually compliment the wood. so if its dark get bright strings or whatever really. so any types of string.

    So my orchestra is playing Vivaldi's Summer Presto, which wouldn't be too difficult if the speed didn't require what the other cellos in my section are calling the "circle bow-hand" - where you literally use only the flexibility of your wrist to move the bow. I'm getting better at this but I still can't really do string crossing using only my wrist - any suggestions?

      @Akeruyri 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Probably not relevant now but play on the upper part of the bow

    In halo's main theme song, the cello has a very difficult part where we have to play the C string, skip the G string and play the D string. This all goes really fast, and I'm not sure how to play fast while skipping a string. I can't play it fast without playing the G string with the D string. Can anyone help?

      Kawaii Potato like in shifts, you cant really avoid everything that exists between two notes. just try to make it inaudible, make sure your bow does not really moves LR when you change strings. you should change your arm position instead of trying to do that with your wirst or your shoulder. do that without any audible notes and move your weight. then play it with rhythmical stops: tatata-stop-change string-stop-taaaa.
      and play popper nr.1, of course :))

      I don't know the score, but if it's really hard to cross there, couldn't you use a high position on the G string instead, even if just as a stepping stone?

    Last part from Bach does not sound good. "Jumpy" is not the right technique for that! Supposed to be smoother....i dont think cello crossings are taught right in this video..
