What a coincidence!
Every restorator finds the parts in the backyard, like modern day relics :)
coincidence 😁
Turan Oguz: You haven’t been looking carefully enough at that bunch of weeds. We find plenty of old stuff thrown out decades ago.
Ya i found a small loan of a million dollars in a bush once.
You took all this time and effort to show a step-by-step then blew through the video without giving us the benefit of your explanations and materials used. I don't understand that. I would have loved to have seen this in real-time and heard why you did what you did. Your video could have been a reference suitable for downloading as a vital addition to anyone's library. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, it's just disappointing to not have the benefit of your explanation and experience. All the best - Luther
Its my first time doing it on video. Im not the best scenarist so thanks for ur opinion..
I thought the video was very well illustrated.
I agree . I don't understand why you heated it up with a torch and the use of use of used motor oil????? outside of that, it is nicely done, just some more expalination to some of your technique
@@stevenc6256 Steel / metal expands when heated. Cast it pitted everywhere. Cast expands when heated and the 'pores' open up a bit with expansion. While it is hot, applying oil to it thins down a bit, fills the pores, dries quicker and shrinks the cast iron and traps some of the oil in the pores. When the oil 'sets' when it cools, it can be buffed up. It helps protect from rust and looks nice when done.
Nothing like that old dirty motor oil smell every time you want to heat up the room, ahh, brings back memories.
I think the first hot burn should take care of that. Should be done outside.
Milan Radak: Joe said that it’s just for decoration.
Awe I was hoping to see it burning wood once more at the end :(
Me too
@@nonawatkins9151 sorry guys just decorations..maybe later i do restore another
I love this little coal burner ! Wish I could find one like this at a good price . "Deeds not words"
Nicely done. Metalworking is a great skill to have.
great job! I'm storing my cast iron stove. What blades/ wire brushes/ etc did you use?
Skilled job - nice to watch. Thanks for recording this. But puzzled at the flame gun & motor oil treatment - can you explain the rationale? Is 'used' of significance to the result, or was it what you happened to have available? - is the metal content of the used oil relevant, for eg? And was this stove for show or for use, and if for use, did it smoke/fume when in use, as it would have been hard for you to reach a higher temperature in pre-treatment with the flame gun than when fired up with a load of coal. Wouldn't iron paste have been easier blackening treatment? (iron paste=wax & carbon black, AFAIK).
he mentioned that it is only for decoration, and hence I think he did not really care about the usage of materials like " old motoroil".
Amazing work!! What kind of oil are you using? Is it motor oil that have been in a car?
ya,its just old motor engine oil..thanx for coment
that was awesome man. great job. looks brand new!
Thanks
Are you sure that's a wood stove? Or is it really a small coal heater? It appears the design would handle coal better than sticks of wood.
This was so helpful. Thank you for taking the time to do this. I am picking up an old stove this week and was trying to prepare and gather all the helpful hints I could find. This was the most thorough restoration. Outstanding
Wish u the best
I'll be getting one soon as well. Would love to hear how yours is coming along.
Great job I learned a few new tricks. Thanks
Joe, you have serious skills, I have learned a lot. Thank you for this video!
Getting ready to do one myself, soooo happy you put this out!
That is so beautiful what a lovely job you did with it
Maybe everyone knows but I don't....what are you putting on the metal and what are the various tools you're using..???
Beautiful restoration. I'm wondering about use after the old motor oil was applied. Did it smoke or stink?
Woow amazing very nice
That was definitely a diamond in the ruff. Nice find.
Didn't fancy welding up those cracks then? Half job at best -1.
Are you sure this isn't actually a coal stove? The small doors would seem to suggest that this is a coal stove. And it's size and shape as well, being tall and narrow.
Happy to be your 14th subscriber! Amazing and inspiring work!
Thanx bro
It looks like you had a lot of fun there, Joe. Nice piece!
what did you apply on the hindges? I slowed down the velocity to be able to really follow what you did 😄
A job well done Mister Joe. I did an old Franklin yesterday. Thank you for the tips.
Very nice .............Now slow the fuck down so we can see what you did properly
personally i would not be using the old motr oil as an effect, as when it is heated, carcinogens are released.
Notable restoration. A lovely stove. I subscribed.
Excellent work, a great piece saved! 👍
Great Work sir !!
Great video, could do without the fake bullshit at the beginning.
You can’t ever use it now I don’t think. The heat would make that oil stink really bad.
Ya, only decoration now 😊
New videos in progres dont let miss them .. PLEASE subscribe me if u like me videos.. thanks

Hi
Am from India 🇮🇳
Where can I get such stuff?
This is amazing! Can you share what you're putting on it? Steps to restore would be awesome. This is incredible! ❤❤❤❤ I'm getting a wood stove oven and it'll def need some work. I'm a total newbie but super excited. I'm just clueless where to begin.
We call it "Cast Iron Stove polish" here in New Zealand.
Should give a rough idea if you google it where you live if they call it something different.
well what kind of paint or chemicals did you use ????????
Joe, you clearly have a talent for restoration - really satisfying to watch - Thank you, you have one more subscriber.
Big thanks
Great job, I never thought it would look that great. And I never would've thought of using old engine oil for a finish. Outstanding.
So the motor oil is just a finish look?
Ken Lynn also probably just like curing a cast iron skillet, it will help prevent rust.
Hai fatto una opera d'arte !!! 🥰👍
What’s sort of wax are you putting on in the end?
Hi, its wasp wax
What a fantastic job you did! Thanks for sharing it
Love that he didn’t put that nasty ass heat paint !!!
Yes. But what is it he did use?
quickly becomes unwatchable. G'bye!
That's great but what is the chemical that you were putting on it?
МАСТЕР!
Love that you restored this. Beautiful. New sub
Very very big thanks to you 😊
Amazing video here!
Restoring an old stove myself and I want to oil it instead of painting as well. Was going to season it like a cast iron but after seeing this video I might do what you did. How is the motor oil holding up? Looks great
Never heard of this "ESA" brand of woodstove... Hmmm...
Very good restoration bro 👍👍👍👍👍
Thanx mate, next restoration coming soon :)
Now that was a great restoration!
Very nice work. But horrible music!
good work but i hate the music
Thans next video without music 😏
Why did you not use stove black??
Looks like the side tabs ether have holes on them or chunks missing entirely. It ended up alot better than when you started.
Wonder why you didn't use the traditional older product called "Stove Black"? It is still around after at least 150 years.
Cos i hav thisone home 😋
Mary Frederickson my thoughts exactly, brilliant stuff if a little messy to apply! Looks so much nicer than the modern trend for spray painting everything with heat resistant Matt black paint, stove black or grate polish as we call it in the UK leaves a lovely silvery grey finish.
Just got an old rusty stove for the mrs. This will help in my restoration project.
Great👍
Like the music 👍🏻 rare i say that!
I was feeling like I took a whip it watching this video lol
Really Nice great job but what about the chipped corner
thanx, that corner is problem,so i will not burn in it....
Nice.
Beautiful we need to bring back old things reuse
Hi joe so what's the benefits for using motor oil instead of paint? I used to paint my old tractors three piece linkage with motor oil to protect from rust but never thought of using it on a burner
Cheap and good loking for me
Fair play. Was wondering if there was any difference to using the oil instead of paint.
What's the effect of oil on warm body? Avoid rust?
Old look and oil smell 🤫
Nice czechoslovakia Stove
Annoying vibrating music
Great find joe 😂😂😂😂
Could do without the music
Nice. What a find and great finish.
Yo quiero una igual quedo ermosa
Que cosa más cuqui
great vid.....cool little stove...
What did you use to dark it?
May I ask what the black stuff is that you paint on after heating the cast iron with the torch?
motor oil
The motor oil that you applied - was that used motor oil?
ye
Love people like you, that see beauty in what other would consider trash. Thanks for sharing
Thanks u too 😊
Great for a night table
Looks EPA approved to me, haaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
Nice to watch but I was hoping for a explanation of what the liquids were you are using? Vegetable oil? Bacon fat? To season the cast iron? Subscribed..
Fantastic, brilliant
Very nice work. What did you wipe all over the stove at the end?
Beewax
So motor oil first then bees wax to polish it up a bit?
Great work, watched this twice already, picking up a stove this weekend.
Great video! My interest was piqued from the first second and to the very last moment!
Thanks 🙂
А на русском языке перевода нет ?
Я сожалею
Wonderful
Good job bro
Would of been nice to see it working :) good restoration though x
Thank you
Beautiful stove, I like it and good job.
Thanx man
Great find.
In my opinion it is better to hear the sounds of work instead of music.
I love old cast iron. A lot of work, but it was worth it - a beautiful result, congratulations.
I think this stove is useful to its owner after the third world war. But if you really use it, beautiful oil oxidation will burn when it is very hot.
Ajajjajab que masa!!!! El loco la mostraba al final.. muy buena capo.. quedo perfecta
gracias amigo
Very enjoyable to watch, a man who is clearly doing a thorough job of restoring an old stove. I'm interested in the lifespan of the protective oil coating and also how bad are the the fumes of it? Thank you.
thanx for your time to watching my video..Stove which im restoring I'll just be like decoration..but i thing first time fire it outside and u will se how bad smell its..i thing some years withstand
Restore with Joe Why didn't you use traditional "black lead" stove polish, which is actually a graphite paste these days? It makes cast iron look fantastic and provides some protection while being non toxic and it doesn't stink when hot.
Awesome find !
Excellent 👍
Wow what a find.
Music name ?
This was very satisfying and helpful. I will be restoring an old wood burning stove myself. Was just wondering what was in the bottle with the brush, before removing bolts or screws.
Muy buen trabajo
Watching you pull that from the weeds, all I could think was “snakes, spiders and bees.” Awesome job on the restoration and an awesome little find. I liked the soundtrack as well!
haha :D thanx
@@restorewithjoe1667 Weeds? Some of those "weeds" look like hops to me. Just thought it was kind of funny.
Beautiful!
