I would recommend looking into a good headlamp, flashlights are awesome but they take away the use of one hand, a good headlamp will allow you to use both hands while giving you good light.

I read this and thought about it for a second. This is a war bag , last thing I want is a light on my head that says blow my head off. If I were on the other side of your head lamp I would aim a couple inches below it and that's that. I'll stick with my weapon light and a hand held

Thanks for this video. I'll be getting one of the 511 packs... not just for the features you illustrated, but also because you did way more than the average "bug out bag" presenter... you actually showed how to deploy your setup, rather than just its contents. That's 100% better, or more, than just a "here's what I've got in my bag" sort of video. (Of course, you also chose excellent gear - some of which I hadn't thought of or seen before.) I also appreciate that while you covered carrying a firearm concealed, you didn't feel the need to parade your gun for us... that makes the viewer think about how their own weapon would fit into your loadout, rather than getting distracted wondering if your gun is better than theirs, so something else equally ridiculous. Well done.

I think it's funny how guys are all too concerned about looking non conspicuous, ie a gray man, but also wear American apparel with form fitting shirts to show off the guns. I know if I see a 30 year old, or older, guy with an athletic build wearing a backpack, I am gonna assume he has a weapon and supplies in it. Not saying I will target these guys, just saying they should be looked out for. When SHTF, just remember that the same guy trying to protect and provide for his family could be the same guy that becomes a bandit.

My dad was a career criminal, and he's been in and out of the penitentiary all his life (he's passed now). When I was a kid he would tell me stories of the inmates being taken out to "Pea Farms" in MS to harvest peas, and he and his friend Slim planned to escape into the woods surrounding the farm (no fences) one day. His plan was simple: first steal a couple shakers of black pepper during breakfast, second, work the field closest to the tree-line, third, when the lunch bells sounds and 100 hungry men start racing for the chow line then run the other way into the woods, finally, a few feet into the tree-line, dump the pepper, so when the bloodhounds hit it their sense of smell is toast for a while, then you're home free. So, Pepper Spray, probably 101 uses that!

The bag that I use with the setup that you have is the maxpedition prepared citizen, from their urban greyman line of bags, it's very rugged with lots of room and organization, but it looks like a plain ordinary backpack.... Very inconspicuous.

Good stuff but I do have a recommendation. All that equipment other than the shoes looks brand new and very desirable to someone with nothing. Dirty it up a bit. Also grab a shopping cart and load it up with a bunch of shit looking like a bum. Dress up and play the part Slowly work your way home. J.m.o. Cutting through fences in someone's back yard might draw unwanted attention from the land owner.

Well thought out bag, would be curious on what changes you would make and if you would use same bag for a non-lethal version. With no gun, would you add an additional weapon, would you keep the plate and if you didn’t, with extra weight you have available now what would you add. Anyways, great bag and well thought out.

One suggestion: stage your tourniquets (one is none…), don’t just loosen it up. Prep it for use so if/when you ever need it, it can be deployed as quickly as possible and can much more easily be put on one handed.

Also, helping other people with common maintenance (just swapped out kitchen faucet yesterday) is something I've done most of my life. It's good to know there are more of us out there, that when the smoke clears, we can start over and teach some skills to others.

Good video! Some I’ve added to my urban supplement kit (I live in a rural environment, but travel to bigger cities from time to time) is a set of lock picks and decoders. Not only can you gain access to look for resources, but you can tuck yourself in behind a locked door for some rest or to regroup. And likely if someone tries coming in, they’ll try breaking through the door or whatever giving you time to hide or arm yourself

Nice video. Another thing to consider is keeping your feet dry in bad weather. Waterproof socks are nice, but if you don't have them you can carry a few plastic shopping bags (without holes) and a couple of pairs of dry socks. Just put the bags on over the socks you have on then put a pair of spare socks on over the bags. Your shoes should be able to fit over that. When your feet get sweaty, just swap out the socks. Also a decent headlight could be had for about $20 and it will keep your hands free.

    Get home bag
    Car bag
    EDC bag
    EFR bag
    So many scenario permutations...
I'm at work and need to get home ASAP SHTF time, but my EFR bag is elsewhere; all I have is the bag that's with me, it's a jack of all trades master of none crossover covering all the afore-mentioned acronyms....
That's "my" personal EDC bag challenge.
But your EFR bag ticks a lot of boxes in this regard.
Side note... My hiking bag has easily morfed into a 110 litre survival bag just in case Putin goes completely bonkers and turns Londonigrad into a car park for his besties...
Keep up the good work, Sir.
    Tony (UK)

I'm not into all the Mall Ninja gear (especially when it's not earth-tone in color), but in my case, traveling to various events as a preparedness gear retailer, my entire vehicle is basically one giant get-home vehicle. Ironically, for my own personal contingency pack, I use a Marine Corps surplus parasitic / sustainment bag (from their previous ruck sack system). It's just one big pouch with a flat compartment in it with a separate hydration pouch, but they're indestructible. I have several of them, since the cheapest price I paid for them was $15.00.
I like those little tripwire alarms, for securing a mobile perimeter. Kevlar thread is a good thing.

An extremely well put together kit, even if it is by a Marine 😂only kidding, I was a Corpsman…by the way, we lost your shot record. The one thing I didn’t see but what about stuffing an extra pair of socks in your shoes? This was an extremely well thought out pack and you did an excellent job of explaining everything. I really appreciate what you’re doing and I’m looking forward to watching more of your videos. Keep up the good work and thank you for sharing your knowledge. Semper Fi.

Thanks for your service brother....And for your video as well......
My only focus will be on your pepper spray: I have used Sabre, that exact spray you are carrying, in actual defensive situations. I swear by it. And will not carry any other brand. Side note.....it works on dogs too! Personal experience! But, I do carry a canister of dog stop spray. Redundancy is key.

Having the armor plate inside the bag is a good option. Just make sure the plate is riding as high in the bag as possible. If it is sunk to the bottom, it wont be much protection where it is most needed.

Great system. People think even in WROL that they will not be some law enforcement and that you can just walk around with an AR in your hands. Your system allows some one to use just the right amont of escalation to complete your mission. Well thought out. Thanks for sharing.

Please explain to me why so many bags (get home bag, EDC bag, truck bag, bug out bag, fighting bag) seems a bit unnecessary and redundant. I feel like unless there is a natural disaster you have more security and provisions at home. And even then it would be hard to defend by yourself. So you have one clear objective get home safe

Why a steel plate for armor. It’s not NIJ certified being steel armor can’t be certified do to the different Rockwell hardness levels.
2-if you come across anyone with a rifle that shoots 5.56 out of a 20inch or longer barrel it’s going to penetrate 9 out of 10 times.
3- if that “armor” is penetrated are you ready to peel that shredded steel out of your wound?

Travel only at night between 2am - 4:30am if you venture out to get supplies you will be gone until those hours so prepare accordingly with an already prepared meal and the appropriate clothing.....do your business but hunker down and only move between those hours.
Discipline is the key to safety and keep noise to a minimum

Hey mate I’ve really enjoyed this video, there was a lot of awesome ideas that I can see you have thought out very well. Sadly I live in NZ and the rules around firearms and incapacitating devices ie pepper gel/spray are very strict so there no chance I could comfortably own any of those items, even carrying a knife can be illegal unless you have good reasons too, thanks again for this video and keep up the good work bro 🤙

Most people romanticize fights, when in a reality, a good scrap will hurt one's hands. Great idea on gloves, protect hands to keep pushing after throwing hands.

Bro, I JUST found your channel this week. We are kindred spirits and around the corner from eachother! What's your pobox? I got some cigars I can send your way. I'm a cav guy so cigars and whisky were my thing but I'll add some crayons to win you over to my team 😉.

Well done my friend. Thanku for sharing ur thots on this often overlooked topic ( that applies to the majority of Americans IMO ). Very well packed fight bag too. I like that u have at least 3 levels of protection to address various levels of threat. Keep up the great work. We need guys & gals like yourself to help us get better prepared in a very practical sense. 👍👍

The boots aren’t glamourous but they are broken in for you specifically. Well thought out and anything you might not have thought of will be minor and you’ll improvise a solution. Keep moving is key and I think you have your bases covered. I thought you were going to wear it like a traditional backpack but having it up front definite allows ease of access.

Nice kit, only a couple things I’d add would be a little bit more ammo, an extra TQ, a trash bag, and a map of all of Texas. As a fellow Texas we have a big state if you get caught out of Dallas you can take backroads via detailed state map to get back to Dallas. Maybe even one set of spare batteries for the flashlight and your phone.

How does one person stay ready with multiple bags and setups from day to day? I feel like the answer is to be mindful of where/when each bag may be needed and have them already packed and stored in appropriate areas. That's my guess though. How would you recommend I utilize multiple themes/setups all at the same time?

  • @StarDarkAshes

The one thing that I was thinking that most people don’t have in that type of kit and I was going to say some thing if you hadn’t mentioned it was bolt cutters, because if you were in a situation where you were cornered, and somebody was after you and you were in an area where the reason you were cornered, was because of fencing, if you had some small bolt cutters with you, you could cut through the fencing, super fast and get out if for some reason you couldn’t jump over it. Obviously, it’s one of those things that probably would never use but if you want a comprehensive kit, it would probably be a good thing to have. And you could also use them as a bludgeoning device if you had to in a fight. The mini bolt cutters from Knipex or some thing I’ve been wanting to get. There’s just so many things to buy so it’s one of those things that it’s hard to get yourself to buy it if you think you’re probably never going to use it. But bolt cutters could come in handy anyways a few times in life if you’re not in an industry where you need such a thing every day.

I was trained too stop and search anyone carrying any type of bag period. Its better to go slick or appear to have nothing than to have a big bag on your back because all of this gear will be considered contraband or war fighting gear and will be seized and you will be detained.
Rely heavily on pre - positioned gear or caches .
Be invisible everywhere you go, stay small, fast , light, and mobile.
Get yourself fit and in good shape.
Get yourself a bomb proof shelter system against the elements dress for cold even if your in warm climate.
Dress in layers of clothing with a wind and water proof layer.
