      @BabyProXav I'm thinking about bying this thinkpad. I need laptop mostly for photoshop, design, some programming etc.. But what you think is it worth to purchase over Dell Latitude E5450 5th gen 14'. They're the same price where im buying, both 8 GB RAM, just the Thinkpad is ssd and Dell is hdd, both 12 mounts waranty. I can't decide which one to chose..

    • @nevsa
      @nevsa 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @BabyProXav That's why i would rather use ssd 'cuse it's faster, even if it's 180 GB in him Il find some extern box like u said if it wouldn't be enough for start.. Well, il get free instaled Windows 10 on him so that's good.. Thanks for advice, now i'm thinking more to buy it. I was sceptic cuse it's a little bit older machine but it's all gone now..

      Everything's good, and it seems that my non-touch display looks better than Lisa's touch screen. BTW, I installed a sata SSD, and with 4+8=12 GB of RAM, I can do light photo editing with Photoshop CC 2018 without any problems.

    • @M-Batman
      @M-Batman 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      周达 Dude that’s awesome , how is the battery life for you? I been contemplating buying one off of eBay ips screen , but not sure if is non-touch screen.

    • @周达-i1n
      @周达-i1n 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use the 6-cell external battery, and the machine can last for around 5 hours browsing the web, although the two batteries have lost some of their capacity over the years. I don't know if you could ask the seller to check the screen, and battery condition. I bought this laptop in China...

    • @周达-i1n

    I'm the rare user that wants this laptop for the TrackPoint, but it's true.... This Lenovo has a problem called the MacBook Air. For $1400 I can have a capable, durable laptop, or I can have a capable, durable laptop machined from a single ingot of alluminum.

    • @efstathioszavvos4878
      @efstathioszavvos4878 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you don't need the processing power, why don't you get a more affordable Thinkpad series like L who still have a good keyboard?

    • @niko-pp
      @niko-pp 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Efstathios Zavvos I was told only T and X series are worth

    • @efstathioszavvos4878
      @efstathioszavvos4878 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Niko Yes but actually only the T440p has much processing power. The rest of the series are good in build quality but are using underpowered processors, thus are as powerful as a Macbook Air or a Dell Latitude (not E series). I would suggest you search a bit more so you spare yourself some money. Latitudes are good in build quality as well. If you want it for casual use, browsing etc, I would suggest going for something more affordable. The good thing with these T and Xs though is you can get extended warranty. I wouldn't go overboard with these. An i5 and 8gb of ram are more than enough for casual use, so don't spend a fortune on it. Another nice and cheap series is the Flex but they only have 1yr warranty. Check the Lenovo Outlet also, as it has good deals. You may be able to get a T430 or T430s for example and extend its warranty with a fraction of the cost which is a much better machine than the T440s.

    • @Rossy1995
      @Rossy1995 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Efstathios Zavvos hi there, do you still think a T430 is enough? I need a laptop for programming on the go (c++, java) and I also have a powerful PC at home.

    • @efstathioszavvos4878
      @efstathioszavvos4878 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, but it depends on the nature of your work. Programming applications and programming and running simulations for example are two different things. I believe a powerful t430 should be more than enough for on the go programming. It will definitely be more powerful than any U underpowered processor.

    I'm deciding between this and the U530. Lenovo is selling both with i7 and 8GB RAM for around $800. The main differences are that the U530 has touch and a sleeker design, but the T440 is more rugged, has better battery life, and better color. What do you recommend?

  • @talkingoyster

    I just bought one of these, it arrived with a big white blob in the middle of the screen. I sent it back and have received a replacement with no problems. However within a day white blobs have appeared on the monitor again. They seem to be consistant with pressure marks, but in the day I've had it, it has been sat on a desk and just been opened and closed a couple of times and I've noticed anothe white blob at the bottom of this monitor as well. Not sure whether I can be bothered to send it back again. I don't think Lisa is correct in saying it's rugged as this seems to be a common issue in this and other similar ThinkPad models, so watch out for that. I think it's only an issue with certain types of panel, so does depend on that, but from various forum posts I've seen it seems to be a common issue. It seems in some cases it's covered by warranty, in others it's classed as damage.

How can I use the tracking point+ physical button combo from now one? BTW, the new X1 carbon lacks physical functional buttons is also a very bad news for all programmers. the USB port on the right side (when looking at the screen) is not 3.0 but USB 2 from what I can determine. The ones on the other side are in fact USB 3.0

    OMG nice design for a 2014 "Ultrabook"... looks like it has 10 years or more
    I really hope they don't ruin Motorola :( just compare the Moto X with this "Ultrabook"

    I just picked up a t430, depending on who you talk to the last of the real thinkpads. It has an i5 3370m, 8gb of ram and a 260 Intel based SSD. It's also the high res model with Nvidia nvs 5400m and it's in great shape. I am not one for the Chicklet keyboard but that can be swapped, but my main purpose is to run Mint Linux on it. Works as one might expect out of the box. Even Optimus kind of works. Combine this with a series 3 docking station and I have few complaints. But I remember a few years ago our work got a few of these t440s in to try out over our Dell latitude e series, after using the t430, I see many the points of many die hards. On the flipside it's still much better then the Thinkpad edge series. They remind me of a slightly beefed up Ideapad. I like Lenovo, but the modern Thinkpad isn't an IBM!

    Lisa great job as always--you always manage to hit all the meaningful points and present in such a professional, upbeat manner . . . thank you! Lisa--are you going to review the T440P? I realize it is similar to the T440S, but is the optional discrete graphics card in "P" and other characteristics worth the additional size? Thoughts? Also, would you have any thoughts on benefits of waiting for Broadwell at this point--I currently have a T61 that's showing its age? Thank you Lisa!

    I'll be honest with you Lisa I have already seen this video and all other Lenovo review videos of yours more than several times already, for the past week. Wondering when can I afford this kind of laptop, which is awesome btw and I really love it's boxy Business design, as oppose to it's competitors products with ugly slant design which I really hate.
