As someone who pretty much swears by "the Walmart Special", I'm rooting for the $25 budget. I probably spend far less than 90% of anglers, and use much lighter tackle, but have still managed to catch huge fish like trophy winter steelheads and my PB 4' channel cat.
How'd he get a hook and sinker, though? Those don't come in single packs, and you're probably looking at $5 right there. Some cheating going on lol

For real lol Dude kept jumping on front and sniping Noah's spots. But Noah did cheat and didn't include the hook and sinker into the budget. I'd have gone with either a Booyah Pond Magic spinner bait or a 3 pack of the Storm LiveEye swim baits - that'd still fit the budget (I swear by "the Walmart Special" and probably spend 1/100th of what most anglers do.

Just something cool the orange rod for 45 with for the 25 budget I own that same one and it's actually pretty good and fun to use. It's begginer friendly but for bass nightmare.

Noah should have gone with the Big Bite craw, and the yum dinger. Big bite craw is the best value lure period.
Booyah Pond Magic spinner bait in white and chartreuse, and Storm LiveEye swim bait - I'd go with either, but with the Storms you get a 3 pack for under $5 in case you snag or break off on a giant, and that'd actually fit the $25 budget (Noah cheated and didn't include the hook and sinker into the budget lol).

All I need is a Zebco 33 on a small pond to beat a bait caster! But you should always change the line it come with!
But it comes with 8-10 lb mono or fluoro Spider line - I've never broken a fish off. I swear by those reels lol I buy three a year for my rods; instead of buying line and spooling the same one, I don't have to worry about the gears stripping and just get a clean new one on there. I do like to put a 20-30' high vis leader on with a 10' or so clear mono leader on that for whacky rigs, though.
Budget guy cheated on this challenge, though - he didn't include the hook and sinker into the budget, which would have eaten up at least $5 right there.
@@hanburgundy4317 I have used both line on open face or bait caster. It great! But a 33 in small stain pond with new Cajun red fishing line 7 foot pole I can make longer cast then my bake house or my open face for some reason! Easy to change form soft plastic and average small crankbaits. I used 8 or 10lbs line and dropped shots as well! Big bait I use my bait caster!

I have the Cajun on my old Shakespeare Firebird, atm - some of the 33's come with it. Love that line.
Happy fishing - whack em! It's legit colder than Antarctica up here, right now, though, so until ice out I can only go for trout in the creek!
@@hanburgundy4317 As a child I lived in Michigan! Too cold for me but I could at least fish the Au Sable, Minister River for trout and the Higgins and Burt when it cold. Now I am in Alabama where it do get that cold and the mosquitoes work for the blood bank! 🤣

I feel like after getting a $25 rod, you don't get any more significant benefits than buying a $100 rod or $200. Assume you have $50 equipment, upgrading to $200 might give you maybe 10% more performance for 300% extra in price. It's really not worth it. Plus I doubt it has anything to do with reel or rod much compared to the fisherman. If you are good then you're good with almost anything. If you don't know what hooks or lures and techniques to use then it doesn't matter if you have a $1000 rod/reel.
