The monarchy made a deal with the press to leave William and Haz alone completely whilst in education, I'm from Edinburgh. Your friend is right. St Andrews is a hard place to get to, I've a friend who stays there and said William was left alone.
It was said that our late Queen Elizabeth loved and recognised that Catherine loved William for his personality. If you look at them now, 20 years later, you can see they still have a loving relationship.

This video needs to be shared far and wide for people to understand how much of a fantasy 'The Crown' has become. I visited St Andrews many years ago and, trust me, it's a very long bus ride from anywhere so I'm glad it remained remote for William and Catherine to conduct their university lives away from the type of scrutiny they were subjected to in London. Thank you Kinsey and mystery guest for a very interesting half hour.
Yes, you get a train to Edinburgh, then a train to St Andrews then it's a very long walk from the station. It's remoteness and it's academuc excellence made it uniquely perfect for Prince William. The Scottish people are different than the English ( I'm British) in that they don't have that hideous class system and aren't into doffing caps or having an old boy's network like the toffs in England. Being English I can vouch for the fact that after that press conference on the first day we never saw him on any media
To both of you who have commented ...... It's a 13 mile bus journey from Dundee , which 5 buses an hour run , hardly " a very long bus journey " and there is NO train station in St Andrews so technically it is a long walk from the train station of Leuchars 6 miles away .
The privacy thing is an unwritten given. My husband and I met Harry when he was on a friends stag do in a small pub in Scotland. They arrived, had a great time, chatted to us-his security was there. Not one person in there phoned the press, posted on social media, took a photo….. he left and we all chatted and thought wow that was surreal and went on with life. His private life was private. We only know about nights out now through Harry homself. This was pre Meghan
That's great that happened in your situation. But there WAS a lot of publicity about his crazy nights out before Meghan. The party where he dressed up like a Nazi, an other party where he was partying in a pool of nude girls etc etc.
In general, young people are innocent and uncorrupted, they are interested in their own lives, they are not calculating or nosy and they are not small minded. Any healthy young college kids would have acted exactly as your guest described, i.e. her description is far more realistic and believable than the story told in The Crown. As for the smear of Carol Middleton, it's nonsense and reflects on the poor sense of values and characters of the show's writers rather than on those of Carol Middleton.
sorry, young people are not like that anymore IMO. You're correct about the writers though. Peter Morgan hates the Royal Family so will paint them in the worse light.
I’m happy to hear that William’s college years were that close to normal. Movies & fairy tales poison the well, well before we are old enough to know fact from fiction. Teen years and early adulthood are critical times for the human brain. And for the mind and soul. Small worlds and small circles at that age are everything. To Anonymous Source: The cocoon you helped provide to William allowed the metamorphosis into such a kickass king in waiting. Thank you. And thank God William was born first!
The only one who turned up with a camera crew to film William during his schooling was Prince Edward and his company. It did not go down well and he got the message from Charles and the Queen because of it.
We'll never know how much the order the two sons were born has affected them. Is it a coincidence that Elizabeth and Margaret displayed similar personalities? One's personality is not all down to that of course. But, it's well known that a child who gets all the attention often does very well. The child who knows she'll always be second best and gets much less to no attention does tend to act out and be dramatic.
@dod2304 What a silly comment. The youngest is usually spoilt...and ends up a brat. The firstborn has all the responsibility ..and parents lean on them .
I read a comment from a friend of Catherine’s who was with Catherine in Florence during her gap year studying art history. She said that Catherine had already chosen St Andrew’s even though she also got into Edinburgh as well. This was before the press announced that William was going to S Andrew’s. She said Catherine had recently broken up with a boyfriend and she talked about him.
Kinsey, You are also Gorgeous with this soft makeup and no false eyelashes! You‘re just a very pretty woman and don‘t need much to look glam! Love your podcast and your interviews. Have a wonderful New Year!!! ☺️🌹✨🥂
Kinsey you are gorgeous but I love when you glam up! You don't need to use makeup to be gorgeous but your on camera so I understand. It's fun to glam up with false eyelashes and your eyes are insanely beautiful when you do apply lashes. I remember you being live on Christo's show and you looked really tired but gorgeous as usual. You had your hair in a ponytail and I think Jammie! You looked adorable and I love that you were confident and comfortable appearing on the show. It was Coronation week I believe. Just dig your style and feel protective when others comment about your not needing make up. It's your life live it your way amazing girl!
… I didn‘t mean to imply that false eyelashes and more makeup looks bad on you, Kinsey! I said ALSO gorgeous with a soft look. Besides, it‘s not what you wear, but how you wear it, IMO. And you wear your looks with style. ☺️
I think false eyelashes look ridiculous on everyone who wears them. They scream fake, fake, fake. I suppose they might have their place for a theatre stage performance when the audience is far away. But for TV or movie work, with close ups, forget the fake lashes and just do a good swipe of mascara and call it a day.
I do think the Princess of Wales struggled with the attention when she and the Prince of Wales were dating in the years following University. I think that struggle BEFORE their engagement made her stronger and better able to cope once they were committed to each other. She grew into her role as the years have gone by with Prince William’s love and support.
Carol Middleton is a wonderful mother and it is obvious her love and care for her children would drive her decisions. I admire her so much AND even if she had engineered a meeting I would say hurrah! Catherine is the best person to have happened to the RF in decades. But no, I do not believe she plotted anything but happiness.
I like this comment because it is PLAUSIBLE ago me that Carole had some role in helping her daughter be placed at the right place at the right time. It’s also possible that Catherine herself Wanted to make that calculation. No guarantees that it would work. You can see by the continued closeness of the Middleton family of that children Trust their parents. The way Carole is portrayed in The Crown is bizarre because The Crown’s Catherine still trusts her mother even though she is somewhat emotionally abused and manipulated by her. It didn’t really make sense.
I wish/hope that lots of people see this video. I was especially glad to hear that The Crown's version of Carol Middleton was way off. It really sounds like an idyllic place to go to university and that it was really special for William and Catherine. I expect that they will one day be the first King and Queen to have met in college!
This is a fantastic scoop Kinsey. I am English and 20yr William's senior, for what that is worth. I mention it because I fully remember it being a serious term of agreement that Prince William would be left alone, and he definitely was. ....... to everyone's relief because we genuinely love him. I was NOT going to watch series 6 for a number of readons then " curiosity killed the cat" and I found myself watching it. Oh my goodness me ; the storyline of Kate and her Mother was ridiculously beyond the pale. It was laughable. I'm aware of poetic license, but good grief, this was outrageously implausible. Thankyou for soeaking up dear friend.
I blame Netflix for putting this dramatic series out for money with more subscribers however after that ridiculous MM and H garbage as fact was put out ….well they lost subscribers. Netflix was already loosing subscribers before the Crown … people are so naive or just plan ignorant to believe the Crown is the gospel which evidently another royal series with a real prince was a gold mine for them or So they thought. Look at the wasted money spent paying that ex working royals on podcasts and the documentary. Greed all around in my opinion.
Wow congrats on getting this amazing guest and the kind words she spoke about you being trustworthy was great. I really enjoyed her stories about how things really were at St. Andrews and that Catherine was a nice genuine person, the same person we see now. Truly loved this podcast! And I also love that LifeTime movie on Kate & William! Its a movie you can watch over and over.
Well this guest lady is a bit much. Understand about trustworthiness and all but is she really that paranoid ? There are 100s of students that was present while ppow were attending, she didnt have to say her name yet her info was nothing new. She wasn't even there when ppow attended. Bollocks! Like ppow gonna call u out that u knew they stood in line for a banana or something geez it's been 20+ yrs. Kinsey while much appreciated u have a guest that went to St Andrew's but pls bring a guest who isn't paranoid & spend 5 minutes explaining how this would be only time she would share, trust, etc, blah blah, paranoid . . It would have been enough u spend 10 minutes about what she confirmed as a summary. This was a low point of ur guest. Next time just share to your audience a summary if what's true or not via someone who attended St Andrew's. Not necessary to bring her in if she's soooo paranoid that she'll be identified. Blah blah.👎 It's not like MI5 or SS gonna track her down bc she was in line when ppow was purchasing sone food. Oh brother! 🙄
You need to understand the British system for applying to University. This would have been done through UCAS and so it’s highly unlikely she could have schemed her way in!
Catherine was originally going to Edinburgh and her mother was not happy when she changed to St Andrews, but she wanted to go on her Operation Raleigh expedition and Edinburgh wouldn't hold her place for the next year.
I know someone that went to Edinborough Uni to study medicine at the same time Catherine & William were at St Andrews. The 2 campuses had alot of social events together. My friend reports that both William and Kate were the nicest of people. My friend knew the Middletons as well because she grew up in the same village. The Middletons are a very nice family and well thought of in their community.
The same happens around Balmoral, in the local towns and villages, when the royal family are there. The Scottish people respect others, whether the royal family or celebrities like Billy Connolly who was often spotted out and about when I lived in Aberdeenshire, I am not Scottish. This respect was shown perfectly when we saw the Scots on their turned out horses, in their spotless tractors and those on foot lining the route to quietly show this. Like the Princess Royal I was deeply moved watching this.
Reading comments from others who were at St Andrew when William was there and comments from Brits about how the RF's privacy is respected by the general public together with agreements with the Press whilst royal children are in education etc (which, incidentally is strictly adhered to) it makes a complete nonsense of Meghan's claims her children would be constantly under the scrutiny of the Press and papped at every turn had they remained in the U.K. The irony being Harry knows this to be the truth but willingly went along with the deception. Yet again an example of Meghan feeding false information to her fellow Americans. Generally speaking the British public respect the right of the royals to a private life and especially so when it comes to the royal children and young adults. We know they are not celebrities. People will happily allow them to go about their business unmolested and would never approach them or speak to them unless invited to do so and that is how it should be.
Today with his children he has a similar type of deal with the press that Willam had in college. He did an interview and then was left alone. That deal still stands for his children when they go to school. If you notice when taking their children to school on the first day. They allow a few cameras, and thats it. If the press violates that, they will not be invited to future events.
What a great guest! It's nice to hear from someone who was there and she did really well at still respecting their privacy. Kinsey, I LOVE that Lifetime movie! Not gonna tell how many times I've watched it.
There was an agreement with the media to leave him alone at school and uni - the press were respectful because the RF make themselves available at specific times. If you try to stay too private as a public figure, you will get the opposite. He and Harry took a diving course as young adults/teens near where I lived at the time, and they were eating Macdonalds sitting on a kerb in the car park - no one bothered them. We were also aware they always had security!!
Oh gosh girl I agree with you on the lifetime movie of William and Kate. My heart skipped a few beats which ain't good for a 70 yr old woman. When I watch anything now I have my defibrillator near by. Lol. I really enjoyed this interview. You let the guest talk and had great questions ready. You know who could learn from you. I hope you and your family have a very blessed New Year.
I always liked your interviews. Your whit and how respectfull you are towards the people you interview and the stories you tell. It tells alot about the wonderful family you are surrounded with. ❤
You’re awesome in giving us this scoop with your special guest, Kinsey. I hope it spreads like crazy bc I cringe at the thought of those who take The Crowns version as true events. BTW, I too LOVED LifeTime’s William & Catherine’s uni story! They truly fell in deep love with each other and knew that if they didn’t decide to stay together and weather all that came at them then they would always have that emptiness in their hearts as they were always meant for each other.
Grew up in Palm Springs around big celebrities. We left them alone and gave them space. They got to shop and go about their business like regular people. Never had one complain about not being mobbed or treated special. The whole selfie/autograph mania is a new development.
Oh hell yes Kinsey Schofield, I love that Lifetime movie, too! I've seen it I think three times this last year...? It is so sweet and the lead actors for William & Catherine are darling. Awesome escapism. You are me kindred spirit on this Kinsey. Great podcast and thank you to your friend on spilling what actually happened instead of some of that ott nonsense The Crown likes to use in their creative license. Also, I've heard the way admissions work in the U.K. a student can't on whim suddenly change universities, esp universities that are in high demand and difficult to get into.
Wonderful interview! I thoroughly enjoyed your guest’s perspective on university life with Prince William and Princess Catherine. I think people have mistaken the scheming angle. That was Meghan Markle’s playbook, not Catherine and Carole’s.
As someone in one of the realms, I think most people in the UK, the realms, and the Commonwealth knew/know that there was an agreement that the media would leave the children alone until they had finished their schooling (including University). The public felt they should be left alone too, and still do to a large extent. I think the Crown worked on the assumption that American viewers are ignorant about the Monarchy and the British way of life and think the US audience is gullible enough to accept the fantasises they make up.
I recommend listening to the podcast entitled “The Crown Fact or Fiction” For Season six, after each (ridiculous) episode, I have listened to these podcasts. They are great. They get right to the heart of the lies!
I did not watch the Crown after the first couple of seasons which were great. But they re-dramatize rumors from back in the day and amplify them from thing is nobody has any way of knowing, except for the one or two people that were in the room. I didn’t want to watch as it got closer to current day as it was interesting to learn about some of the historical actual facts of the time around Queen Elizabeth’s early reign and before even. But that’s how I wanted to remember it. As it went on, it just got more trashy. Also, I was very fond of the first round of actors and absolutely adored Claire Foy. I didn’t love that whole change every year or two. I’m not sure if I watched 2 full years or 3 full years but I don’t think I made it to the fourth unless maybe one episode or something. Plus, I have not turned in the Netflix app on since HNM mockumentary.
@@rachmunshine9474 I loved Claire Foy as well and stopped watching after she was gone. I gave Olivia Colman a chance. But, lost interest. Actually, Olivia Colman is a brilliant actress but the story line didn't hold me.
Thank-you to you KInsey and your guest. That was a beautiful interview. I am so happy to know that William and Catherine were able to live a normal university life and be respected. I am sure being in the public eye at every turn is not easy. William and Catherine do a great job of handling it. Both William and Catherine seem like really nice people, wouldn't it be great to have a cup of tea with them at a cafe! LOL. 🫖☕☕☕☕🍰🍰🍰🍰
People who respect their own privacy are respected for their privacy and respect to others. Both William and Catherine didn't seek attention and I have to say that they were surrounded by good people indeed. ❤
Amazing Kinsey!! Thanks for adding something new & so interesting into the pot! There's so much recycled information out there day after day, so it's nice to hear something unique & new.
I was Will and Kate’s neighbor at St Andrew’s and I agree, I never saw any paparazzi and if a student asked for an autograph that would be looked down upon by all the other students. He seriously could walk around alone and no one bothered him. We were protective, he was one of us. He was just Wills, not Prince William. We did know he was with Kate when the rest of the world thought he dating blondes who the media said looked like his mother. I never even noticed his police except for their cars here and there. St A’s is a magical place, those of us who went there are so lucky. The thing that was funny was that the library and the union have been completely renovated since we were there. You could tell those scenes were shot in the university but they looked different and that threw me. Also, don’t feel bad for Will he had a close group of friends he was with a lot.
Great interview!! Your mystery guest is absolutely right, gentle if self-conscious avoidance is definitely the British way - we tea-drinkers are taught from birth that it's rude to stare! I went to a similar UK University (Durham), where minor lords and "Honourables", the children of prominent politicians, young sports stars and even a few former juvenile TV actors were known, given space and ABSOLUTELY NEVER approached. Fan-girling would've been uncool, embarrassing and UTTERLY UTTERLY common!!! We lesser mortals usually recognised the celebs but "went out of our way treat them normally", which is a bit of a contradiction; I totally understand that thing about joining the longer queue so as not to crowd PW or look like you were sucking up to him! Those who were genuine "rock stars" never even mentioned what was special about them (I was friends with one girl for a year before finding out she was an aristocrat!) I'm just so glad William was officially "ignored" at St Andrews and allowed to get on with his life. How typical that The Crown got it so wrong ...
Perhaps St.Andrews should leave a dignified comment, about how they value the privacy of all pupils there, within the building and in the surrounding grounds. To scotch this rubbish portrayal. And yes, poor Carol Middleton. But like the RF, theyre also dignified and would probably not touch any defamation accusations.
Hello Kinsey 👋🇦🇺thank you so much!!! This was such a lovely interview!! I think we all feel trust towards you that your friend feels!! Love from Oz!!💕🇦🇺💃
It's really speechless when people talk about Carol - princess Catharine mom like about some medium women who put a spell on William. Catharine wasn't only one beautiful girl at that college , she comes from commoner family not from aristocratic family an at that college was lot of beautiful girls who comes from aristocratic family. Why people stop to believe in love and in everything see complot and strategi? Do Carol as well is queen Leticia, mom who made plans how to marry king Philip of Spain and she was journalist, divorced, commoner and Untyroyalist?
The press allowed both William and Harry privacy while they were growing up. Also, after Princess Diana died, rules were put in place with media to avoid the paparazzi effect, so much so that, at least in England, the paparazzi were almost non existent. Which is why Harry and Meghan had a hard time getting footage of being chased by them, ie. A guy on a bike. LOL
I know the Royals are super wealthy and live a privileged life, but listening to this girl talk makes me feel somewhat sad for William. I'm couldn't be happier for William to have found his soul mate in Catherine. 🇨🇦
I'm a bit late to this video, but I wanted to give a thank you to your mystery guest for taking the time out of her day to give us her unique insight into her experience at St. Andrews while William and Catherine were there. I'm a 1st generation American and my parents are British. My father grew up at Kinloss on the military base in Scotland and I have family that live in Edinburgh and Aberdeen so growing up I visited often - including St. Andrews! The people there are amazing and truly respect each other and it does not surprise me that William and Catherine were left alone and treated normally. I'm also not surprised it was a bit awkward where people didn't want to make William feel uncomfortable; it's definitely part of the culture there.
One thing that I noticed The Crown presented correctly ... and that was that William is left-handed. Only left-handers would even care haha!
As a fellow lefty, I noticed that, too! Huzzah!
Maybe Rachel Ragland wrote that part for Netflix who regretted not transferring in those years.
sorry, young people are not like that anymore IMO.
You ain’t kiddin’!
Wholeheartedly agree.
I totally agree. Less makeup is better.
@dewarsbramangus I think so, too. 😉
I think false eyelashes look ridiculous on everyone who wears them.
Carol middleton is not god. What man proposes, god disposes. How could she have engineered other than give them a chance to meet each other, at most.
I would have liked it if she said something about classes and exams too. Oh well. Maybe next time.
A honest podcast, thanks for reinforcing the Crown is fiction. This podcast is done with integrity so a reliable source of information.
Peter Morgan despises the Royal Family so painting them in the worse light is an agenda !!
thank you, mystery guest
The fact that the interviewee was anonymous means she is not attention seeking. This is unlike Meghan who always wants to be the star of every show.
Love this. Thanks for saying Catherine.
I noticed she has started saying, “Catherine.” ❤
Yes, thanks for that. It’s such a beautiful name. ❤️✌️🇺🇸
Love the muted makeup, pretty Kinsey 🩷
I was going to say that! TH-cam’s motto used to be Broadcast Yourself. She’s perfect for this and perfect when glammed up for TV. ❤🎉
Catherine was originally going to Edinburgh and her mother was not happy when she changed to St Andrews, but she wanted to go on her Operation Raleigh expedition and Edinburgh wouldn't hold her place for the next year.
Thank you for this ! I felt bad with the way Catherine was showned.
…and her mother!! 🤦♀️🙄
I feel like it’s another attempt by Harry and TW’s people, to take a dig at Catherine. It is so pathetic and disgusting.
The irony? In how Meghan did scheme to land a Brit / Prince that no one talks about
I think we all know but that we are just completely done talking about those people. It’s been four years.
Anglesey in Wales was the same. We heard virtually nothing
Hello Kinsey and mystery guest, at that time, Catherine was always competitive and into sports…. So I agree that she was understated elegance…
I bow my head & thank God for Prince William & Princess Catherine. Besides You Lord, they give us peace & rest. Amen.
Beautiful comment
🙏💕🙏🇺🇸
Love you Kinsey ❤. You have such great guests and always ask all the right questions! Happy and prosperous new year to you and yours. 🎊
Agree🎉
No member of the Royal family are allowed give give anyone a autograph because of forgery of that members name .
Your channel is so interesting and informative. Thank you for your amazing content!
LOVE this Kinsley you're the best. Thanks mystery guest
That was a flipping good listen, and a great reality check. Huge respect to Carol Middleton for NOT being as The Crown portrayed ĥer.
Great Guest! So refreshing to hear the TRUTH!!!!!!
Thanks Kinsey, great podcast. Wonderful guest ❤
I always liked your interviews. Your whit and how respectfull you are towards the people you interview and the stories you tell. It tells alot about the wonderful family you are surrounded with. ❤
If Williams experience was anything like when at Balmoral, local people let them live their lives without bothering them and respected their privacy.
❤❤❤ this is why I love your take on what is going on because you really know people to get the inside scoop.
Great guest!
Thank you ❤
Grew up in Palm Springs around big celebrities. We left them alone and gave them space. They got to shop and go about their business like regular people. Never had one complain about not being mobbed or treated special. The whole selfie/autograph mania is a new development.
Wonderfull podcast ❤ and best wishes for the new year 🥳
Catherine’s mother being depicted as conniving in making sure Catherine attended the same school as William was horrible!
We love you Kinsey❤
Thank you for this interview! What a special time that must have been to be a student at that school.
Yes, the Lifetime film is WONDERFUL.
Love the episode! Happy New Year 🎊 🎉🥳❣️
❤️ Thanks, Kinsey! Happy New Year! Please, pass along my hopes that Cristo, also, has a, Happy New Year! Love you both! Patty fm Philly
Great interview it's nice to her the real truth.
Wonderful interview! I thoroughly enjoyed your guest’s perspective on university life with Prince William and Princess Catherine. I think people have mistaken the scheming angle. That was Meghan Markle’s playbook, not Catherine and Carole’s.
Royalty do not give autographs - period. This is something megain had to learn
This was so great. My son will be attending St Andrews in the fall and as an American I’m obsessed hearing about St A from alumni.
I’m an American St A alumni and it’s a magical place.
PS I was gonna say, however this podcast sounds interesting. 😂
@@rachmunshine9474 I loved Claire Foy as well and stopped watching after she was gone. I gave Olivia Colman a chance. But, lost interest. Actually, Olivia Colman is a brilliant actress but the story line didn't hold me.
Thanks for the great guest Kinsey! Your makeup today, btw, is stunning!!
Thank you, Kinsey, we love you 🙂 This was very interesting.
Love your more natural look. You are beautiful and classy
Amazing Kinsey!! Thanks for adding something new & so interesting into the pot! There's so much recycled information out there day after day, so it's nice to hear something unique & new.
That was a lovely podcast and your guest was so nice and I really enjoyed her insight into being at St Andrews. Happy New Year to you!
Just to say you sound like a lovely person 😊
Aw, shucks! @@patwilliams800
After the death of Diana the media were very respectful of the boys and they were to leave them alone at school as per arrangements with the Palace.
Remember people this was a show by netflix, you know that devil that meghan and harry sold their souls to, were you expecting anything better?
Wishing you a very Happy and prosperous New Year! Thank you for your excellent reporting and great podcasts🎉🎉🍾🥂🍸🍷🍹🍭🍬🎉🎆
Great insight, thank you ladies
Have to say, Kinsey, you look beautiful in this video. the lighter make-up allows your natural good looks to shine through.😀
I adore it that classmates are coming out about this garbage
Great job and have a wonderful new year
The Royal Family are not allowed to sign autographs for legal reasons, basically to avoid their signature being used unlawfully.
Thanks Kinsey always enjoy listening to you. Good interview. Have a happy, healthy 2024❤
I would not believe that happened. She’s very decent 🇨🇦
Loved this. Great to hear the real story. Please note that The University of St Andrews is not a college. Founded in 1413.
Such a great scoop!! Thank you and of course you’re friends with someone from St. Andrews. 🥂HNY
Ohhh I am i Love Catherine and Prince William Love them
Great interview Kinsey!!!!
LOL
GO KINSEY! GO CLASSMATE!!! Love you both!
I know the Royals are super wealthy and live a privileged life, but listening to this girl talk makes me feel somewhat sad for William. I'm couldn't be happier for William to have found his soul mate in Catherine. 🇨🇦
Thank you for that! You really do have the real scoop!
Thank you again Mystery Guest and thank you Kinsey for all you do! Cheers!
Kinsey , I hope you and all here have a Healthy and Happy New Year 🎆
Happy New Year Kinsey thank you for all your hard work this year have loved every one of your videos looking forward to seeing more in 2024 🎉🥂🇦🇺
This was very interesting and enjoyable. Talking about the Royal Family but not telling lies. Someone should take note
