Yesterday I ordered a part for my Dell Precision 5820 from your company via chat and it was a very nice and friendly ordering experience. The part is already on its way to The Netherlands. It was a pleasure ordering from you.

You can use the same carrier for your Gold CPUs. Thanks for watching!

Do you think it is possible to install a pair of Xeon Platinum 8124 in the DELL T7820?

      Hi @GiancarloDeMarcoTelese,
As these are 1st generation Intel Xeon Scalable CPUs they should work just fine. Although, I will mention that we have not validated this specific processor in a build. The 1st and 2nd generation Intel SP have the same socket, and there is no mention of specific CPUs in Dell's literature, just Cascade Lake or Skylake CPUs and the core count works too. Here is the spec sheet: www.itcreations.com/user-manuals/7820-tower/dell-precision-7820-tower-workstation-spec-sheet.pdf
Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!

I am installing 2 xeon 6138 in my 7920 tomorrow, but the PC unfortunately didn't come with the cpu carrier (the black plastic that is holding the CPUs at 4:58 mark). Is it ok for me to still install if without the part. I'm assuming the heatsink would hold it into place as long as I'm super careful when installing it....???

No. You don't need the plastic holder to install the CPU onto the socket but it does make it easier to install. Don't forget the thermal paste 😃. thanks for watching.

@@Itcreations-LA Thank you for the reply. I figured as much, therefore, I went ahead and installed them over the weekend. Applied a good amount of thermal paste, and both CPUs have been idling at around 35 to 40 ° C

thanks for sharing. i just ordered refurbished one single cpu 7820, looking forward to get it working, cheap but definitely solid option for my home development hardware, with potential to upgrade to cascade lake later on. I will use CPU in conjunction with two GPUS so i am wondering how DRAM speed affects that kind of data transfer, as my low budget approach left me with 2133 MHz option.

I’m getting one of these an upgrading then with an amd rx 570 but does the system come with a WiFi card? Or do I need to get one? The work station one that is. Can’t find anything elsewhere

Hi there HD TV! No, it does not come with a Wi Fi card. You will have to purchase that separately, Thanks for watching!

Thanks for these informations. After the bios update, does the system still support Skylake architecture CPUs or is it a one-way ticket to Cascade Lake?

@@alexn6595 Needing a higher base frequency, I managed to replace my two xeon silver 4210r with xeon gold 6146 without problem.

ive got a 7920 rackmount workstation which came with a single xeon bronze 3104 6 core processor... i bought two Intel Xeon Gold 6138 ES QL1L 1.8GHz 20 Core processors for it... the system will turn on and then before showing a post screen, turns itself off. Bios version is 2.7.7... you guys have any insight on what could be wrong?

The ES signifies "engineering sample"processors, which are not officially supported by the system. Those processors are for testing purposes only and we don’t recommend using ES or QS products in the production environment. See if you can return them based on that, then if you are still needing processors check out our website or EBAY store. Hope that helps, and thanks for watching!

Also, as cool as Intel Xeons are, I wish OEMs offered AMD Epyc or Threadripper in workstations.

Folks on r/hardware on Reddit say that EPYC is already seeing pretty wide deployment among hyperscale operators.
