I appreciate how you implement the idea of "don't take more than you need" that says a lot about you as a person itself, much respect to you and happy foraging 👍.

Thank you Chanko, conservation is of paramount importance. In Wales the licensed commercial Cockle fishery works on the premise that a third of the resource is for the birds,a third is for species reproduction and the remaining third can be harvested ,Kind regards Craig.

What I love about most foragers is that they will put back the little ones to keep the population going and this man even puts back rocks into the same parts(water underneath for them to hide). It's amazing how much knowledge can be learnt, I hope one day I can have the privilege of learning from a gentleman like this. Reminds me of my farm upbringing, self sufficient and creative.

That is a fantastic comment MR99BIGMOE.I would emphasise that I am fortunate enough to have the knowledge of over 150 miles of coastline, which include various habitat types including sandy beaches, rocky shores ,estuaries ,sand dunes, salt marsh, mud flats etc .I will commence making a business out of my passion for the marine environment in the near future. It will involve taking groups of up to a maximum of 12 people. It will be focused on education and having a good time in the open air.If the foraging is sufficient to cook a small meal on one log to enable my customers to have a small sample (without having an adverse effect on the local ecosystem) ,then I see no problem .Many thanks for a great question. My website is "Coastalforaging.co.uk " kind regards Craig.

What are the size limits when foraging the beach in Wales? Here in Australia for instance, many species of crab can not be kept if they are under a certain size or are females.

Hi Jono ,thank you for your interest, there are many size limits and personal daily weight limits for conservation reasons here in Wales, this is all available online e,g, Lobsters with eggs(in berry) need to be returned .Kind regards Craig

The only way we can tell is by the regular testing of the water by our environmental protection agency ,who will alert the public by many different means. I can't recall an incident here, regards Craig

You are humble, like my mentor Jim Muninck
He once told me you can know every plant on earth
Then, when your taking a seminar out, a small child will point to something and ask what it is
You respond, “I have no idea”
I love and respect that man so much
You are so much like him
Please live 10000 years and educate us
