before our 0-8 hoodoo, we were 13-1 over port. also we were 0-7 against the pies in 2012, came to them in the prelim and got em comfortably. might be one of those years, we did beat giants for the first time in finals. will have to see on friday night hoping for a good game of footy. people still underrating the cats for some reason. they are a finals team and will not go down easy. lions need to kick straight, they have one of the best lists in the comp. my tips are cats and swans, good vid jesse
I’ve tipped Geelong. I am a Geelong fan so obviously bias, but I’m not completely set on Brisbane. They also haven’t bested Geelong in Victoria since 04, whether or not that is a lack of matches played (seem to always play them in Brisbane), I’m not sure. But I will appreciate that when Brisbane are hot, there isn’t a lot of things you can do to stop it. I’ve tipped port purely on history. I don’t believe they will win but I made the same mistake tipping the hawks last week. 7 years is a long time without a win so honestly could go either way. Totally agree, Geelong playing only interstate teams at the MCG when they’ve recently this season been quite strong there. They look in top form, if we play the same way we have been recently, I have no doubt we’ll win the Premiership.
Swans and lions are my tip. Really think the Swans are just the far superior midfield in comparison to Port and there's just more polish and poise in the bigger moments. Lions I think will have a better rebounding unit to the Cats own and it's honestly going to be such a grind for either side. Lions have no choice but to convert. They've faced stronger sides in the past at the MCG and won so I don't see how this can't be the same.
I remember another Rioli stat, something about how when a team adds a Rioli to their list they win a flag within 2 seasons. I remember quoting this ahead of the 2018 GF, 2 years after we drafted Willie. He joined Port two years ago...

It gets complicated who you want to win as it's likely your team is gone by the preliminary finals. But I'm probably being a little petty and thinking if Port Adelaide wins the flag West Coast is still in front 4 to 2 and suddenly it looks pretty cool if he becomes Eagles coach.
Brisbane have a lot of big bodies which is a bit of a worry but their ball use is poor and they have a lot of turnover merchants, if the cats bring the pressure like they did against port they will be far too strong. The cats small forwards are hugely underrated, they are elite users of the ball under pressure and all cover a lot of ground. Port Adelaide will likely struggle due to too many important outs. I don't rate Sydney but It'll likely be a repeat of 2022.

You have two low-scoring teams playing each other while be boring and frustrating, but close; and you have two high-scoring teams playing each other will be exhilarating and close (this would've been the best GF!). Whoever wins either, you will have a low-scoring team vs a high-scoring team which makes it a one-sided GF.
