🤗😅😂
PSA: Sally’s has the Ouidad one for $18..as opposed to $24 at Ulta.. and it’s buy 2 get 1 free right now. They also have the kinky curly come clean and that one is buy 2 get 1 free too
@Sally's Yaaay!!!💯👍👍👍
Wish I would live in the US😂
I use on Wednesday my Cantu cleansing shampoo and a hydrating shampoo from GLYNT. On Sunday I use a dualsenses scalp specialist deep clarifying shampoo from Goldwell for 9,99 €. Or a seasalt rosemary scalp scrub. Depends on my mood. Works very well also. Some recommended products, I cannot purchase, because they are not to find in Germany. Or I find them somewhere out in the World wide Web, but then the delivery costs are too high. So I need to help myself🤷🏽♀️
iNo you are not talking to much ,you are giving great info which is greatly appreciated and also i find your voice very soothing ❤
Thank you so much for these videos! I did my first clarify and deep conditioning session yesterday. I didn’t realize how badly I needed it until I finished the process. I used the Pantene you recommended for clarifying and it was so nostalgic. Thank you for all you do to educate us wavy/curly ladies. My hair has changed by leaps and bounds since starting on this journey in August. ❤
I’m grateful that I can depend on you for good info. Bless you. 😀
I had no idea polyquats needed something specific to remove! This may be my problem! 😱 Thank you so much! Praying KC doesn’t discontinue because it’s my favorite! I have to try the come clean now!
My stylist told me any decent shampoo can strip hair of product residue and any buildup. The trick is to leave the 2nd wash when shampooing on the hair for 10 minutes before rinsing. Thoughts Courtney?
He also said that to penetrate the hair when conditioning, to condition three times, letting it sit for several minutes before rinsing and reapplying. Repeat 2x times.
I can attest the triple conditioning works. I do the triple condition almost all the time and especially when deep conditioning.
I highly recommend Acure Clarifying Shampoo. For a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, try Acure Ultra Hydrating line. The conditioner has crazy slip.
You are amazing! Thank you.
The best clarifying shampoo I’ve found is Prell. Extremely effective, inexpensive, and smells great.
Hey Courtney…the Kinky Curly Knot Today shampoo is chelating with Phytic Acid. And Phytic Acid only has to be like .05% of the formula. Good news!!
I always double cleanse even when my hair isn’t extremely dirty lol. My hair stays cleaner longer properly because I spend extra time massaging oil off my scalp. I really enjoy Redken’s volume injection shampoo and conditioner to clarify and reset my hair. It’s not curly girl friendly but for me it’s amazing. I also really love Pantene’s volume shampoo I discovered because of you Courtney. It’s also very affordable.
I have been recently using the Olaplex No. 4C Bond Maintenance Clarifying Shampoo and really like it. It is pricey, but you only need a very small amount as it is super concentrated. It is chelating and clarifying, really recommend this one.
*Hard Water* . I use the Ion brand (sold at Sally) shampoo and conditioner once a month. I also have the Pacifica Rosemary Purify in my arsenal at all times. I do not find either product to be stripping with a double cleanse, which I always do. If I don't do a deep condition on those wash days, a leave-in is a must, which I am not religious about using on an ordinary wash day. I do not heat style (only diffusing to 80%) or color my hair. I have fine, low density hair and it screams for moisture. I use hair masks as conditioner on wash days. If I don't, I end up Meh wavy.
I have the Living Proof Clarifying Detox one. Its pricey, but I splurged on it because we have insanely hard water here in SW Ohio (and we have well water). It works ridiculously well! My hair is so healthy wnd happy after using that and my deep conditioner.
I've been really curious about that shampoo! What does it smell like?
@@clairebonnstetter5722 kinda like cucumber? Lol it's more of a fresh smell than floral
@@DaraS84 Thanks!
I use Malibu c and ouia clarifying shampoos. I like them both. Ouia is expensive but Ulta had a buy one get one free travel size options on sale. For $15, I got 6 ounces of product, just a few ounces less than the $32 priced one. The bumble and bumble Sunday shampoo, Courtney mentioned, is on sale until feb 17. Buy one travel size ($16) get one free at Ulta.
I've been using the super cheap V05 clarifying shampoo from Dollar Tree. I use it every other month since I don't use product every wash day. I do love to double wash my hair though. I feel like the first wash removes the dirt/pollen and the second wash removes the oils. I have to wash my hair more frequently if I only do a single wash.
Thank you for the info. I personally like to use Avalon Organics Clarifying Lemon right now as my clarifying shampoo. It has some sulfates, but I can't really tell if it is chelating or not. We have super hard water here and that would probably be something I need once in a while. Maybe I should try the Ouidad Water Works.
I appreciate you and your 🧠 due to use of too many proteins in ingredients versus protein mimickers. I have made myself allergic to all and it’s taken over four years to figure this out and still searching and trying to learn basic of ingredient’s besides how it is formulated. From what I know. I haven’t used any proteins in any of my products. I was told by Main Bio In 2020 that I can shampoo or conditioner with a protein but cannot leave in any stylers. Just this past year I’m starting to add it in shampoo. So it’s so hard to find products beside all the curl talk of you have to keep balanced. I call B/S on that. So I appreciate you and hope to hear more on ingredients labels.
I was able to get the Kinky Curly shampoo at our local Sally's Beauty. Also the leave in featured in your last video.
I just love Olaplex 4C. It clarifies and chellates. It's really worth the investment.
Thank you for this video! I have the ouidad water works and really like it. From your description, does it not remove polyquats?
Kinky Curly Come Clean turned into my favorite after Neutrogena discontinued the best clarifying shampoo ever. Kinky Curly is becoming harder to find….also worried about its future 😮
Can you review Odelle’s clarifying shampoo and tell us whether it’s actually clarifying
Great video!! But I've heard you say a few times now that the Pantene shampoo you use to clarify has an ingredient that wont make it turn into mold or fungus. Which products mold over time? Do you have a video to answer the question that I missed? Sorry if you have a video on this but I'm fairly new to your channel.
And if you don't mind answering a somewhat personal question. What's your background? You have soooo much information!! Were/Are you a teacher? Im loving your channel! Keep up the great work!
A tip from another oily one..
Neutrogena T/Sal Therapeutic Shampoo.
The only down side is that it takes time. It’s not a put in & immediately rinse out. Nope.
When I use it, I put it in, do the rest of my shower, full shave (not just armpits) wash body & face, brush teeth. Then rinse out & condition as normal.
It doesn’t leave my hair feeling DRY like the dandruff shampoo from shea moisture with the Salicylic Acid. And my hair actually gets oily slower too.
It’s the best I’ve ever used.
I just used the Malibu C hardwater wellness shampoo, & got super results (with a double cleanse). I used the Not Your Mother's 3-in-1 Conditioner as a follow-up, leaving it on while I did my other showering stuff, then rinsed it out completely. Ended up with smooth, shiny, lightweight, bouncy waves & curls. Very good reset indeed!
That is an excellent hard water, shampoo option!
I use the Malibu C Hard Water Wellness since we have extra hard water where I live, followed by a deep conditioner
What's your opinion on Innersence detox products? Do they work well for hard water?
I actually have the opposite problem. We have incredibly soft water. When I moved from a region with medium hard water to an area with very soft water, it took me almost 2 months for my hair not to look absolutely awful anymore. I was pretty desperate but then I switched to a shampoo with C14-C16 on a regular basis (2-3 times a week). It is the only thing that actually cleans my scalp.
What shampoo did you switch to?
Is there a shampoo that will chelate hard water build up and clarify product build up?
I've never seen the Kinky Curly shampoo at any Target, even a few years ago. However, I purchased it as part of a bundle with the conditioner and Curl Custard on Amazon. It's also available at Whole Foods (which is the only place I've seen it in a store).
*BTW, the whole line is amazing on my highlighted curly hair!
It doesn't strip your color?
I really want to try the Ouidad one but the ingredients say that it has Polyquaternium-59 and Polyquaternium-10, do they cause buildup?
I have the Ouai clarifying shampoo and Ion chelating shampoo. I live in an area with hard water so I find myself clarifying every other wash at least. I also double cleanse even with a clarifying or chelating shampoo.
I love love BB Sunday shampoo, but it is not exactly color safe. It will remove color gloss. Learned that the hard way when my highlights went brassy. But my hair curls on another level after using it
Hey Courtney ❤️
Love your channel. Disregard the rest of this post, I found it 😆🤦♀️. Sorry, p.s. You are super inspiring ❤️!
I purchased the curly hair guide ($32) but only the hair type guide was downloaded and opened. Everything else is just a "text" with no pdf's. I can screen shot it if you would like. Sorry to post this here but didn't see how else to contact you. I would really love to have the rest of the packet but I don't want to repurchase to see downloads again. Please help 🙏
I use a shampoo called Faith In Nature (fragrance free) for clarifying. I was wondering if you could tell me what type of build up it is good for?
This was such a necessary video as it gave me a better understanding of the types of buildup and the best products for removing them. I was in protein overload recently so I clarified with the Herbal essences tealightfully clean shampoo which did a great job. The kinky curly shampoo is in my rotation and I love the orange scent
For hard water buildup, my current faves are the Ouai detox shampoo and the Olaplex 4C clarifying shampoo. They both have protein, so.if I'm in protein overload that's when I'll reach for kinky curly.
Looking forward to part 2!
Ive enjoyed the ion hard water shampoo from sally beauty. Its been wonderful, it makes me hair feel clean but not stripped. And we have insanely hard water, im surprised we dont have stalactites growing from out shower heads
What happened to suave clarifying shampoo?
I use on Wednesday my Cantu cleansing shampoo and a hydrating shampoo from GLYNT. On Sunday I use a dualsenses scalp specialist deep clarifying shampoo from Goldwell for 9,99 €. Or a seasalt rosemary scalp scrub. Depends on my mood. Works very well also. Some recommended products, I cannot purchase, because they are not to find in Germany. Or I find them somewhere out in the World wide Web, but then the delivery costs are too high. So I need to help myself🤷🏽♀️
Is there a "catch all" clarifying shampoo?
The impossible feat for me is trying to find something clarifying and color safe. I have grays that I cover once a month with demi permanent at the roots and after clarifying, it's gone.
Same! I'm trying to find try color safe one too. Tried Colo Wow shampoo says it removes residue and be color safe but i think it remove my demi-permanent color. I save it for wash right before salon
@@amyday2236 Yes, that's kind of what I do as well, but I feel like my curls could benefit from more clarifying. Thank you for letting me know about that shampoo! It's so frustrating when you find something that claims it's color safe and really isn't.
Hi Courtney! Thanks so much for this video, I am still trying to figure out how often I should clarify, so this really helped a lot! I just want to ask you something. Do you also use a clarifying shampoo after you use oil on your scalp as a prepoo? Or just a normal lowpoo? And if you use a lowpoo do you shampoo twice then? Thanks so much!🌻🌻
I use oil on my hair as a pre-poo every time before I wash regardless of whether or not I am clarifying and deep conditioning or it’s a regular wash day with a low poo
@@SwavyCurlyCourtney thanks so much Courtney!🌹
EVERPURE
Sulfate-Free Clarifying Shampoo with Antioxidants I going to go try it is color safe
The shampoo was amazing is made my waves and curly come out very pretty 😊 it helps
I have a question. Is there any clarifying shampoo without sulfates? I'm highly allergic to sulfa in any form . My whole head itches and I have to take benadryl to make it stop & re-wash with a sulfate free shampoo.
The kinky curly come clean, is sulfate free
Did you say you are going to clarify how to clarify?😆
Kinky Curly has changed its ingredients, and added some new ones.
Interesting!
04:07 I learned in the hard way about clay and scalp.
oh no!!!! I'm so sorry to hear that!
And i use treseme clarifying shampoo for days i need do a restart to my scalp.
I like dan pharm anti dandruff shampoo it's gentle but after using my scalp feel so clean.
I always ask myself how your waves would look like without using that tons of conditioner and so on. For me your hair looks so overconditioned or overmoisturised and I wonder about the amount you put on your shorter hair.
I really don't want to take you down, it's just the thoughts that I have.
What about your family’s meals? Or are you serving FACTOR to everyone? What about when you want to/need to eat without pre-pkg items?… I hope you’ll consider seeing an RD (registered dietitian is important; not just nutritionist) for personal advice, as needed. 😊
My family actually really finds the factor meals tasty! Sometimes we eat these together as a family, but usually this is my lunch during the work week while my husband’s at work and my kiddos are in school. Really they just supplement my diet. It makes sure that I eat a well balanced meal even when I’m busy.
