Great review and nice footage 👍 Just a few things I noticed which didn’t seem right... the T5 1TB hold nearly an hour of 12bit raw 4K so I fairly sure the 2TB recording ProRes Raw would be much more than an hour? Also you mentioned using Premiere or Final Cut for the cDNG raw, but Davinci Resolve is definitely the way to go for handling the cDNG workflow, Premiere and Final Cut don’t work with the raw video (for example Premiere can import it as a sequence but you’re then just grading an 8bit video not the original 12 bit format). After Effects or Lightroom give the option to apply Adobe Raw corrections to the sequence before importing but Resolve is a full raw workflow end to end for cDNG. For short projects I actually just edit the raw clips direct from the T5 SSD and Resolve handles it easy on a 2016 MacBook Pro 👍
Hi, gotta question, if u want to put manual lens on the FP, is there a 'release / shoot without lens' option u have to enable just like on Sonys or Fujis? Thanks
Well its not so accurate. For example: At 2:25 Electronic Image stabilization DOES work in 4k (not "only in FHD"). Its limitations are that it only works for MOV (not RAW) and it can not work side-by-side with OIS in the lens (you'll need to turn the OIS off in the lens when apply EIS in the camera).
We should be aiming to get the shot or t least most of it in camera Tbh. Raw is photo and video is good but it shouldn't be pretty much shooting for post
Log is a profile, not a codec! You said shooting log is good but not the same as raw. A lot of misinformation in this review. I would be keen to know how we see what we are actually filming on the screen in real time without a log profile? Having a. Baked in image is super deceiving. Does having profile off effectively give a flat image to work with? (Albeit not log) thanks
they did not, and are still working on the full frame foveon. However, it is not a sensor that is well suited for video, that is why they use a Sony sensor for this one.
Steve Mers I was able to handle changes in color temp very easily within premieres color panel. But no, I wasn’t able to control by kelvin specifically. Just had to use the scopes.
When shooting RAW, did the in-body histogram (or the Atomos one) show the REC709’s dynamic range or the HDR? I’m asking because I heard some users reported that histogram shows clipping point in highlight two stops before the actual loss in detail. It’d be a nightmare exposing like so. Great video btw PS: firmware 2.0 released the dual ISO support. Do you think dynamic range has improved?
infshv It’s okay. Not anywhere close to what Sony and Canon can do, but it gets the job done. I wouldn’t recommend this camera for sports, action or wildlife where tracking is crucial.
infshv honestly I found it a bit difficult to grab focus using AF but I never use AF for video so it’s very possible there was something I was missing!
Great video, except for one thing-the clips at the end were supposed to show how much extra latitude there is, but they didn’t, since the before shots were exposed properly (other than WB in the one clip). It would have been nice to show at least one clip that was way under and brought back, and another way over brought down. That would actually provide useful info. 🙂
Calling it the "smallest full-frame camera in the world" is a misnomer. He literally has to hold the rig on his shoulders because of all the attached accessories. I don't doubt the camera's abilities. I just wonder how many people will use just the body and a lens.
But it is the smallest FF camera in the world. I switch between setups of rigged on tripod or go mobile with the body only for photography. Just because the camera is flexible into becoming fully rigged doesn't mean it's not the smallest FF.
Carl Stawicki you could easily still use the camera in its smallest form! It’s built out like that to give it the same capabilities as a larger cinema camera package.
I’m loving this camera!

Thanks for sharing the info.
Its a gem

Woh interesting that you mentioned the build in image stabilization. So many other reviews say it doesnt have any. Am i misunderstanding something?

Nice 👍
Can it shoot 1080p 120fps RAW at CD mode?
How much time can I record to a 500gb ssd while shooting 4k 10 bit CDNG?

wow that looks so compact and 4:2:2 8 Bit cool

Does the Sigma Fp have unlimited recording when filming.
Or is there a 30 minute time limit in each off its formats
No limits. It records for as long as you have enough disk space.
when did sigma give up on foveon sensors??
they did not, and are still working on the full frame foveon. However, it is not a sensor that is well suited for video, that is why they use a Sony sensor for this one.
Yeah except changing color temp isn't even supported by ProRes Raw. It says so on Apple's website.

great images!> What lens was this? Also, can the 60 fps done at 4k Raw at 10/8 bit? or exclusively HD?

How does the AF perform on firmware 2.0?

The V.2 AF is still pretty awful, but the camera is great.
