      @@keithgroce9983 I've had the same desire to build a 28mm Ork "AirrKraft Karry-arrrgh" display made in the shape of a large metal "Zeppelin" that stows and launches skwandronz of Ork planes, DeffKoptas, ChinOrk Warkoptas, along with units of Stormboyz, and Komandos repelling from the bottom.
      A Stompa or scratch built Garguant as a conning tower and the whole thing bristling with huge Mek Gunz would make it look the part with Orky "know whatz" technology to keep it aloft, hovering over a battlefield.

    SpeedFreeks is a specialty boxed boardgame unto itself.
    Of course the models work for Orks in 40K.
    Aeronautical Imperialis is another specialty stand alone boardgame as well and the Ork fliers faction was amazing.
    40K Apocalypse is still an amazing game that played faster/simpler 40K games at 2000 pts or more (even 1000 to 1500 point games worked within it, too).

    • @B__C__
      @B__C__ 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would argue that Speed Freeks doesn't work for orks in 40K because the little buggies are scaled so small compared to the standard trukk or deffkilla wartrike that their crews look like grots. I mean the deff dread hangs way over it's base in practically every direction, but the buggies all look like dishes from an expensive French restaurant in that they more dish than meal.
      And of course you are forgetting the best game of (say it with me kids) _ALL TIME!_ GORKAMORKA!! For Gork's (or possibly Mork's) sake, how could this channel forget Gorkamorka!?

    • @GeneJordan
      @GeneJordan 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@B__C__ GorkaMorka is to this day an amazing game, but it suffered from the same issue of puny looking Orks driving puny looking vehicles, too.
      Even the current, staple, plastic GW Trukk model is way out of proportion to hold 12 Ork Boyz, especially with the base size upgrade.
      However, it's on par with Space Marine vehicles (cough, Rhino) that must use the same technology as Doctor Who's Tardis to fit a transported SM unit inside.
      The original Ork metal Warbuggy, Wartrakk, Warbikers, Nobz Bikes (with an Ork Driver and Nob), Cyboars Riders, Scorcha, and Deff Dread models were all far smaller in size than the current SpeedFreeks Buggies/Warbikes. The first plastic counterparts weren't much larger. Even the original plastic Battle Wagon wasn't much larger in scale to Ork Boyz on foot.
      As an avid Ork player and collector, I still love them all though.

    • @DaRedWunzGoFasta
      @DaRedWunzGoFasta  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @GeneJordan bingo! The Ork Trukk that was out during Gorkamorka could barely hold a single 25mm base in back. The drivers are scales smaller than current grots! But yes, I loved Gorkamorka and it is still viable today with modern models.

    • @B__C__
      @B__C__ 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@GeneJordan Oh, _I_ can fit 12 ork boyz (and crew) on a "modern" trukk. Orks don't have 'ape-hanger' arms for nuthin'. 😉
      The current trukk and the wartrike are the ork-scale gold-standard for me.
      Also, I wasn't really trying to argue that scale was any more of a concern for Gorkamorka, whose saving graces were of course that you could build your own trukks out of whatever, and you could only ever carry exactly what the model could carry (tiny bases included). You would think though that after all of the time between Gorkamorka, the creation of the "newer" trukk model and the Speed Freeks buggies that GW R&D might have invested in a 50-cent plastic school ruler with inches and centimeters on it.
      With all this scale stuff in mind I think I'll pull out my two Epic-scale (3cm-wide) Stompas to use in my 10th Edition game this weekend.
      _"WHAT!?_ They're GW models, it says so on the bottom. Now this one is going to do a strike attack. The _WAAAGH's!_ over so that's only six, 3+, Strength 24 attacks, for 10 damage a pop. Ready?"
      "Oh, I should probably figure out how many of the 22 orks made it out of the one you blew up first." 😜

      @DaRedWunzGoFasta  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @TomasQuinones great question! I'm not sure, as I never played Space Fleet, but they were quite a bit more in depth than all of the other fleet games I've played - Star Wars Starship Battles, Axis & Allies War at Sea, and X-Wing Armada. I loved the facings and movement rules! The torpedos/fighters were a bit clunky. It's been 15 years since I've played a game though

    I bet all GW specialist or spinoff games have a hard time getting traction when they have to compete with a juggernaut like 40k. But it’s always cool when a company can tries something new and different. However I personally think GW should stick to their cash cows and when you’re in for something different check out indie or smaller companies. That’s what I’m doing lately.

      @@DaRedWunzGoFasta The main giveaway is that when smaller companies or a similar indie game is released it will get more support from the developer. And if you support them with your wallet it will be sustainable for them as well.
      As an example, I back the kickstarter of TTCombat’s miniature game Half Tilt. It’s similar to the classic white dwarf game Full Tilt but played with halflings. GW would never resurrect such a niche and unknown game, but a spiritual successor is the way to go if you ask me. And there are countless others.
