Edward's and Wagner were AWOL. Big Z is totally lost on defense. Kentucky's 7 footers look like it's their first year of playing basketball.

BBN, have you noticed the Kentucky Wildcats have been dominated by its opponents best player ALL year. Calapari and staff NEVER prepares or design defensive sets to stop the best players on the other teams.
Kentucky has NOT stopped the other teams best player(s) the entire season. Texas AM has two players (Taylor, Radford) that Kentucky COULD NOT contain. Both games the same two players dominated Kentucky's entire team. Folks, that is poor coaching preparation.
To know Taylor and Radford are the go to players for Texas AM and still allow them to dominate the game (both) is poor coaching.
Calapari's coaching style is obsolete. The Cats beat Tennessee last week on will and determination, (guts/heart) NOT due to great coaching. (their choice)

Mitch barnhart Better be prepared to fire cal if we get a early exit in the NCAA tournament. The mediocrity is just ridiculous for what his contract is. Way extremely too much talent to have the record and early exits he's had. People might say sec tournament doesn't matter but in my opinion it does why is the standard being set lower and lower every season.Just ridiculous that every record cal is getting is the one's that are horrifying. Mitch better man up by holding cal and his staff accountable. Too many people have said that the program is unacceptable where it's at. It just simply can't be ignored anymore!

In all honesty don't you think Cal would be better if he recruited lower tier players someone that you know will be around for 3 yrs or more? I have never seen a team make it far with a lot of youth, teams have got to have players with seniority leadership, if not then you fumble your way through things and figure it out the hard way Kentucky is figuring it out the hard way. A team that hits 2 threes a game hits 13 and the second half they ran down and hit a layup unguarded EVERY play.
It’s the new norm for UK. Stack the roster, get sent home early. When your coach says it don’t matter why would anyone expect effort. This defense is no better than it was in January. Glad i changed my mind about going to the tourney, it’s just becoming automatic that UK will be sent home early. They will next week too.
How can you win a GAME, let alone a Tournament, when the Coach doesn't even want to be there? Coach Cal effectively GAVE PERMISSION to his players TO LOSE and squashed all the momentum built up over the last couple of weeks. He has betrayed his players, the fans, and the program for how many "pieces of silver" we pay him a year (8.6mil to be exact)? You can't just turn winning on and off. It’s doesn’t matter who Cal subs in they do not defend , you can shuffle whoever you want but none of these guys are even mediocre defenders not even close and the very worst part is our best offensive players are the worst defenders on our team . Even when we are at our best we play no defense at all 0 effort and they look so lost on the defensive end of the floor.

Coach Cal needed to go 4 years ago. All he talks about is these kids and their families, first round draft picks, blah, blah, blah.. How about the fans for once, we are always last with him and Im sick of it... He cant coach. Period. If so, we would have something that is called defense. I have never seen a game as bad as this one where on rebounds you could literally watch the texas a+m player put 2 hands on our players back and actually push them under the rim to get a rebound.

Dribble drive is a failure in college basketball.
He's been doing that for years...even when UK was more successful he was doing it. Look at how he coached a guy like KAT....he hated he and guys like Cousins taking outside shots when they could....because apparently he thought the NBA was still some kind of kick it inside gladiator battle between big men. Lol. It's why Skal was such a bust when he came there. Cal wanted him to be a back to the basket, physical big man and he was more like a big Euro type player. It's the same thing on defense with zone.....Cal has never developed a decent zone defense because it's not a popular (in the early days it wasn't a legal defense) defense in the NBA, so Calipari figures it wouldn't serve players well when they got into the NBA....which leads us to the point: Cal's job is to win games AT UK....not be the best NBA feeder system he can be. The NBA can teach new players the defense it wants them to play. Plus, it's not like most of those guys wouldn't be drafted anyways.....NBA drafts on potential...they would be fine. It's just Cal being stubborn and lazy.

Your are correct. To win in the tournament, YOU MUST RUN offensive sets to get good looks. There is always at least one game where you have to get 3 or 4 baskets in a row. Too much pressure to just through the ball out there and say go make a play, while 4 other players stand around. Playing random will get this team sent home early again. Its a shame. So much offensive talent, but no system to take advantage of the talent. This is NOT the NBA!!

This team will go down as the “Let Down Cats”, isn’t it great to be able to hide behind the “we’re a young team” when you’re the one recruiting, but that’s always been Cal’s real game! Recruit the best with the KENTUCKY banner, brag how many go into the NBA “Because they won’t win titles at UK”, wash and repeat! It’s his business model and always has been! It’s the Cal Ponzi scheme. We had 7 National Championship before Calipari. I wanted Reed Sheppard to stay a couple more years but now I hope he goes into the NBA and cash out while he can, he’ll only loose value if he stays here.
Matt nails it. It is so frustrating to watch Cal's teams of late. I don't even look forward to watching them anymore knowing what we're going to see. No defense, blocking out, rebounding and a starting line-up that puts them in a hole 75% of the time. And the SEC refs obviously hate Cal or hate the Ky basketball program. Three 7 footers, none of which can play? It seems to me that things changed after Cal got his latest contract renewal. I no longer listen to the pro-Ky hype. It's just not true. Cal does have some favorable attributes but coaching games is not one of them. I'd be willing to bet that Tyler Ulis would be a better game coach.
I don't want to hear Texas A&M was a bad match up for us. I don't want to hear there aren't a whole lot teams like them. I guess if we lose in the NCAA tournament we can fall back on they were a bad match up for us excuse. There is no excuse for getting swept by Texas A&M none. Can't guard the dribble yeah couldn't guard the dribble last year either when we got our brains beat in by Missouri and Gonzaga. Calipari had a year to fix that and has failed. Let Gonzaga beat us in Rupp. In actually Kentucky basketball if a team is blown out by a team the year before like Gonzaga did in 2022-2023 to us we remember remember and beat the brakes off of them when they come to our house even if their really good. Sure this team could make a run, but how likely is it? If we don't make the final 4 I want Calipari gone. Please tell me Michigan or Ohio St. want him and will pay his buyout, because if he doesn't get to the final 4 this year he is never getting there again it's over.
Play Tre at the 5 and don’t play ANY 7 footers. They are non existent in the paint defensively. Go small ball. Won’t happen though. Cal is too stubborn
Each year cal continues to demostrate that he can recruit good players...but lacks the ability to develop and motivate them.

There's a logical reason for playing the lineup that we start - it's called recruiting. Cal's mindset is that he can't keep bringing in top recruits if they see that top recruits from year's past don't get enough playing time. He might be right, but it shows where his focus his.
Typical John Calipari, he don’t care about the regular season, he don’t care about the SEC tournament and we play like it. Like usual. You were spot on 100% tense, just like the last 7 years.

Only reason they won championships is because they had all star players. Nothing to do with coaching. Great players will make a coach look good. We just don't have those players especially on the defense side of it.

I appreciate what cal has done for uk. And I appreciate him actually modernizing the offense and willing to change. But he really needs a solid tourney this year man. Like you can’t say sec tourney doesn’t matter and then lose early in ncaa every year. If he doesn’t have a solid tourney run. The division between him and the fans is going to be hmmm idk lol maybe unfixable. I just don’t see how he can survive a bad tourney. Coach Cal was the speaker at our High School graduation. Hopkins Academy Hadley Massachusetts, 1991 he was the Umass Amherst BBall head coach, they had a great year 93 94 was awesome...but a coach is a coach, you dont lose what you know about how to win, chemistry sometimes cant be repeated...
The lack of post season success is a kick to the gut. Gotta make a deep run in the big dance or Cal has to consider retiring.

The AD let the women's coach go, maybe the wrong coach? No defense against a team that sucks at 3's, turnovers, no points off the rebounds, and crappy coaching.
I will never buy a Ticet to a SEC Championship with Cal as Head Coach. He is vocal about not taking the SEC Championship serious and it shows. Why would you take off work, Spend thousands of Dollars to go see UK Compete but they once again make early exit! I personally have been very vocal about this starting lineup going to bite them in March. Like Matt said why start who you never play again until the start of the second half... Its sad, the fans know put the best players on the court from the start. We go down 10 nearly each game from the start to have Reed and Rob come in to play catch up... Its Sad. This game is the game that bites you. UK could never get that momentum back after going down because A&M stayed motivated. Would this been the outcome if Reed and Rob started and UK is the team that goes up 8-1? I think not. It would have taken A&M out of the game and the UK Fans would have been behind this team from the rip! This loss is again 100% on Cal.
Lets talk Zone. Cal even said he wish he had done more zone. UK did zone twice to my knowledge this game and they look like trash. Why? These kids knew how to play zone in HS but now look like they have never seen it. Reed Shepard was fun to watch in zone defense in HS but now he looks lost a lot. Use it or lose it! Coaching ISSUE!
Reed Sheppard is the best Shooter on the team when he wants to be. Why is he not taking shots? Watching its pretty clear to me. The team doesn't look for him to make shots! If Rob has the ball he looks for the shot for himself first, then thinks drive it. Reed will be open the majority of the time and Rob doesnt look at him once. Justin and DJ both do the same!
Cal makes me wish I was a fan of another team.
As a Louisville fan,...I know how you feel, but look, UK is like the Roman Empire of College Basketball.
Recruiting is great, but look what we did in '13. Our squad didn't have any 5 star players, our bench was thin, our SG snaps his leg in half.
However, Pitino had the guys molded into a machine.

Bradshaw had 2 mins. Z 17 mins and only 2 rebounds 2 turnovers. Not everything on Z. Other players didn’t come to play. But the rotation was questionable.
I watched the game again and replayed all the foul calls in slow motion. Texas A&M played great. I don't know if they could play any better! But the game was officiated one sided with calls in favor of Texas A&M with so many phantom fouls called on UK players especially on Antonio Reeves that had him sitting on the bench for 21 minutes of the game .. . Officials Doug Shows and Olandis Poole have a history of making calls that are in no way favorable to UK.. Bad officiating tarnishes the game of basketball..

To Cal's defense, he can't make layups for the team. They missed way too many bunnies! They missed about 7 layups. Unacceptable. The Help defense is crap. They don't know how to rotate defensively.

Kentucky has great players, but an over-paid, bloviating coach. A&M swept them and score 24 points over their average. They probably will not make it through next weekend.

Why is no one asking about Dillinghams turnovers? He is a tremendous shooter,but he continually tries to drive the ball up the middle only to mishandle it or have it stolen or blocked.
He's a feast or famine player....great talent, but he's going to push it whether he has it that night or not.....and it's going to lead to nights like last night.....aside from the turnovers his box score doesn't look bad....but it was all hero ball....basically him getting his points in desperation time....but not allowing an actual offense to start running. He's also as bad at defense as any of the guards.

Back to the preseason rank. All hype. Calipari made his ideal program. All about the pros he makes. Every aspect is one and done now. Including wins when it matters.
We did take the lead briefly at 16-15 and we're up 20-16 before the wheels fell off.
I’m absolutely sick of Cal setting the wrong kind of records. I love this team but let’s be honest, we have zero chance of winning the title. I feel like if we don’t make it to the elite 8 then Cal will permanently lose this fanbase. Barnfart needs to demand more out of Cal or pay the buyout and move on. BBN deserves better.

Honestly the startine lineup looked as good as everyones dream team. This is only an exhibition for Cal to get ready for the only tournament he cares about. As soon as times got tough the players adopted his mentality. I dont know why people are acting like they thought he cared. Only two times A&M scored above 90 all season was both games against Kentucky 95 and 97 points. Facts are important. Cats used to own this tourney, making the wrong kind of SEC history these last 4-5 years

I had a bad feeling about it when Tennessee and S.C. both lost. I see Auburn winning the SEC this year. MAYBE Florida.
I’ve been saying for years Calipari was hired to Win Championships - So far he’s won 2 SEC and ONE NCAA Championships.
He’s turned UK into the laughing stock of the SEC and NCAA by running his NBA 1 & Done Revolving Door Prep Camp.
Recruits now come to UK to fulfill the NBA’s One Year college requirement and hopefully become a First Round Draft Pick.
Cal must be forced to stop this and require players to stay 4 years or not attend OR Retire and UK find someone who will actually coach.
I think some of these one and dones need need to stay and practice and learn
I dont always agree with Matt, today I couldn’t agree more! As hard as it was to watch as poor as the defense was IMO we lost the game im the first 4 minutes. Its march, start you best 5 like the rest of the basketball teams on earth or else we run the risk of playing from behind, clearly that preseure impacted play more in a tournament setting!! That said Cal will make the right move!! Cals not perfect but he is our guy so until he’s not i got his back, this should be the motivation they need to lock in and play their best
There’s nothing wrong with the talent. It’s got to be the coaching.
I think what bothers me the most is that Cal is quite outspoken about his feelings on the SEC Tournament. This simply has to be in the minds of the players. Yes, it would be fantastic to have our CATS win the NCAA Championship each year however, being TOP DOG (CAT) in the SEC is what fans really appreciate (hopefully on a yearly basis0. at least that's my stand. Also, until Cal starts playing a little zone. well, ??? College basketball IS NOT the NBA!
