"Easy Money" - Writen and arranged by Benny Carter
Recorded live at Vienne, France 1997
I have always been grateful that Grover Mitchell restored a good number of Benny Carter arrangements to the regular Basie book like "Easy Money", from "The Legend", Roulette Records,1960.

Thank you for this lovely comment, Grover was my dad!🙏🏽🙏🏽
@@gailobrien9380 Hi, Gail! I only have lovely things to say about your dad. Best Regards, Malcolm MacDonald (a.k.a. Ghairraigh)
Benny Carter, born 1907, was 90 years old when he performed with the orchestra in 1997. I hope I have that much life in me when I'm 90 years old.
This kind of music helps keep you alive. I'm 81 and I still run and play.
Jazz is American classical music. It just is. Thank you Benny Carter, Count Basie and this band that he inspired, Louis, and so many others.
I miss you dad!❤️❤️
95 years well availed - what a legacy this man left
Mmm....!!!! That is music!
Great benny
Opening a tune with string bass has always interested me (surprise?) because it establishes the rhythm and helps the band to start out swinging. It can be overdone, I'm sure but when it starts with a solid beat it works well.
Live from Wien (Vienna) 1997
Vienne is a town in France, on the Rhone river. It hosts a jazz festival every summer and has for at least 40 years back. (I saw a 'Jazz a Vienne' poster on the wall of a Paris subway in an old (1960s) Audrey Hepburn movie).
According to the caption, that is where this was recorded.
Great version. When was this done? Late '90s? Early 200s?
1997
Someone has the arrangament?
