I can already see the pilots of the A330 telling the ATC that they have an emergency and need to come back and land because of a bird strike, and the ATC responding "Aahhhh....no sir that was a single engine aircraft you collided with".
Wireline I've always assumed the surveyor at Birmingham airport was pissed! You're certainly not aware of it as a passenger (as they never get a forward view) but compare to the many examples of other runways found on here and I can think of no other international standard runway as bad

They do have lots of "lumps" when viewed in totality, but remember that a lot of big international airport runways are kilometres long, sohaving a few little bumps down the length is stil very flat. The perspective, looking down the runway, makes them look a lot shorter than they areand thus makes the bumps look steeper.

And this includes going up and down on the runway as well. Indeed, pilots have to keep in mind and an eye on the how "hilly" the strip ahead of them is and, if necessary, adjust their angle before touching down respectively. This is why Courchevel for example is such a difficult airfield for pilots to land at. Runways do even "wander", called magnetic alteration per annum. The ratio of change in per cent is given on the respective airport diagrams. That's why after a few years, the runway numbering has to be updated and new heading numbers to be painted on. That simple :).

Most runways really are very flat on the whole. You have to keep in mind that this kind of camera perspective magnifies any undulations.
