Our favorite Japanese destroyer that adopted Russian vodka and also took on Godzilla!

A quick side note: Another difference between the subclasses is the weapon mounts. The First 10 "Fubuki" type ships had the Type A Twin mount, which had 50 degrees of elevation and a max rate of fire of 5 rpm. The "Ayanami" and "Akatsuki" subclasses carried their weapons in the Type B Twin mounts with increased elevation to 75 degrees, and a higher rate of fire could reportedly be reached (around 10 rpm, with variations according to crew training and fatigue)
This made them marginally acceptable against slow-flying targets early in the war (Some reports indicate that rate of elevation could exceed that of the 5"/38!), but they were hampered by an extremely low rate of train at only ~5 degrees per second, making them nearly table to engage fast-moving targets. Combined with the lack of integrated AA Fire control and they were near enough useless by 1943-44 in an air defense role.

I do like hearing about Japanese ships especially one's that may not be known more than other's.

A bit like Lützow/Deutschland. This ship missed all the major battles due to "strategic" damage keeping her in repair, enabling her to survive the war.

Unlucky enough to get hit by torpedoes and mines, yet lucky enough to survive those mishaps, miss out on battles that would have probably sunk her, and end up with the Soviets. Hibiki sure has some weird luck.

It's customary to "Bow" in Japan... but I think she may have taken that too far

A Japanese visitor who had been fishing remonstrated with me for pronouncing Yozuri, yozuri.
He couldn't speak English, and I can't speak Japanese, but he transmitted to me that it's pronounced Yo Zuri. Two syllables.
His sister worked in the Yo Zuri factory.

it survived yet only because they had no choice but to keep fixing her…other nations would have either scrapped her or converted her to a high speed transport
