There are more than enough jobs for 3DS. But remember, it's not about the software, it's about what you make with it.
I use different 3D packages depending on the job. Cinema 4D, Maya, Mudbox, Zbrush, etc all have specific things they do really well. The more tools in your tool belt, the better.
