BROOO the bugged replay is a huge upset. I gained the lead early and had the experimental units go against me every round and STILL got the win. Shame the replay doesnt show it as it played out. Its interesting that somehow I lost when I didnt have the AI aggro? Very strange.
I ran this trying something different, which is why there was no chaff and some odd decisions. The rhinos essentially were my chaff, taking fire for a while letting everything else stay alive.
Developers, fix the replays!!

Yeah it seems like the "sim" isn't deterministic enough to work with their replay recording, they'll have to store a lot more data or fix the sim somehow ...

At least in that replay, you get a bit crushed between two enemies
I won a game where the final round was experimental fortresses against me and I had almost no chaff xD xD
but I did have elite leveled marksman spam with a balanced front line
I had recently a funny FFA with sniper Vulcans. I think i picked up two range upgrades from cards plus the tech and ended up with i think 185 range Vulcans. They had more range than the enemy Marksman XD
Having done a ton of testing with the typhoons in both the testing ground and actual battle; I have to say that homing missiles are often a must have. They don't do much to chaff obviously because chaff die in a single hit anyway. That's what the main gun's for. Though, they do have perfect accuracy and will never miss even if it's crawlers with 3 speed specialists and all their speed techs and gear. Homing Missile + anti-air tech makes for a great combo so your main guns can focus on air and keep the typhoons at range and the homing missiles actually have insane range, so the extra distance anti-air tech gives can make a huge difference in survivability in addition to air killing capability.
It's actually the mechanical rage that is typically the least helpful tech since it boosts attack damage instead of attack speed unlike other mech rages. The best use for mech rage is if you have a massive level advantage or if the opponent's chaff has level advantage making it hard to mow through so it's able to deal with them more efficiently. Typically when you do go mech rage you want to give your fangs mech rage as well so they can keep up, but on such a big map like the FFA map the fangs will still get outpaced, so it may have been a good idea that this guy was selling fangs.
The fact that you had two different results watching the same replay is an extra layer of weird on top of the replay being different from the actual game to begin with. What even is that?
Devs expected that their game is determinitstic and replaying same user actions (placing units, picking upgrades) will lead to the same result. But at least in FFA they screwed up and game plays out differently. There is no error detection in released game. Older games have dsync detection built in. If something is dsynced - replay (or multiplayer game) is stopped.
The thing about Typhoons is that their main abilities (shield and missile) are force multipliers, effectively doubling HP and dmg output, respectively, so they scale extremely well with levels. I try not to ever place lvl 1 Typhoons unless it is very early in the game. Another tip is to place them in vertical orientation so that 1. a single big area of effect shot (ie scorpion) doesnt take out both shields and 2. both shields must be breached before the front Typhoon takes damage
I like to think the mass Typhoons bugged the replay out with the spam of there bulled rain xD

Is there a bug that makes units invulnerable? I had a game where an enemy wraith took 1/4 bar worth of damage then it just seemed to be immortal. Proceeded to kill a dozen units focusing just the wraith and didn't take anymore damage.
it could be one of your buildings got destroyed whilst attacking it, which would have significantly debuffed your units attack for a while.

Isn't a recording actually a recording? How can you get differing results?
most games replays are not recordings, but rather literaly, that, replays. Recreations of a match by the game ai. Thus, there can be some wird interactions
Game recordings don’t actually work like that, they usually record the actions and decisions made in the game. And then literally has the game replay them, in these replays we are essentially watching 4 ais mimic the actions of the real players.
TBH I don’t know the specifics on Mechabellum replays, but it probably does something like that.

Having the replays be the AI mimicing the actions of the players also saves on disk space, as a video would be absolutely massive. Hense why replays tend to break between patches due to this
