@@jamesnock5572 Thank you. I've watched the first episode of series 3. It was bizarre - Hopper wondering how we was going to speak with Mike about his relationship with Eleven, despite in series 2 having had an impromptu heart-to-heart with her.
@@AutisticNotAlienI think about that ALL the time! My mother was one of them in the early 60’s at a very famous New York asylum, so they always freak me out especially. She’s told me so many stories from being there. She was put there after an assault and the subsequent trauma that followed and she was very very lucky not only to be there AFTER lobotomies were out of favor, but also to get out at all. Unfortunately at the time they were medicating everyone with Thorazine to the gills and many bad things happened while she was there. I guess I’m also lucky to be here at all- it was my fathers brother who assaulted her, they were childhood friends who lived three houses apart, and he was also fortunate enough to avoid serving in Vietnam-opting to serve 10 years in the reserves instead because at the time they had too many officers and they asked someone to volunteer to do that instead. I read all about it on my father’s high school alumni Facebook page after he died. I guess I’m supposed to be here, even though I feel like I don’t belong.
I haven't watched this series, I'll give it a try, but I generally don't watch horror movies/series, when I do, I can't sleep at all for a few nights, too many horrible things to think about... Hospitals in the past were an absolute nightmare, I often wonder what people will say about our hospitals in the future. Not so long ago, autistic people were still given electroshocks, at least in my country (which is still very late about autism compared to almost every other european countries...). And of course, before hospitals, they were burning witches just because some individuals were different. Vulnerable people have always been bullied, and probably always will, unfortunately... But you would be much better than these doctors at delivering diagnosis ! (I'm going to watch Teddy Scare, now)
I completely understand about there being too many horrible things to think about without watching horror films! Yet, Stranger Things isn't pure horror - it has strong 80s ET/Stand By Me vibes. The characters are so lovable. People were given electroshocks at the hospital/asylum I mentioned, and which is about five miles from where I'm sitting now. Enjoy Teddy Scare! I had so much fun making it, even though it's a bit of a mess!
'Music jumpscare' - yeah, sorry about that. I haven't watched the film yet, but I've watched a few reaction videos. I can't describe the feeling I have when I see that clip of 'Music' blinking and flicking her hands as she dances in multicolour. It's just a big bowl of wrong.
@@AutisticNotAlien No worries at all, I thought it was a funny little pop up. As far as I'm concerned, this film isn't worth my attention for the negative feelings it would cause. I've seen reviews, but I've never seen the film and I never will... probably...
One thing I look for in each new video is the “ever changing” stuffed animal sitting beside your guitar. I’m assuming these are all yours? I am a big stuffed animal fan, and have a collection myself. A collection that goes back to my babyhood, although I have been collecting them my whole life. I do have some self restraint. It’s not like I have a house full of them, but I find it almost impossible to let any of them go, because it would hurt their feelings. (It’s not like they talk to me. It’s sort of like…I know that they know …and they know that I know …that I would feel sad if they were ever dumped) Makes no sense, but there it is. So just in case you ever wonder if your followers appreciate the “stuffed animal du jour” in your presentation, I just want to say, “I Do!!”
Yay! You're the first person to comment on the teddy bears/toys in the background! They all belong to my son. His room is next to mine, and I usually choose a character at the last minute, though bearing in mind (pardon the pun) that it should be at least loosely connected to the theme of the video. "Stuffed animal du jour" - je l'aime!
Fascinating! I love museums & learning new things. I wish I could remember the name of the book I read where a character was put into an asylum for "hysteria" - the account of the treatment & conditions was horrifying. Even though it was fiction, the author had done a lot of research into asylums & why people were forced into them. They really were places to put people & forget about them - true oubliettes.
Places to put people in and forget about them...which is one reason why I liked making this video, because I got to mention four people to a whole new audience, one of whom was locked away for love. Tragic.
I'm sorry it's so short, though your comment has got me thinking about making a video entirely about asylums, so thank you for that! I went to the library yesterday to look in the local history section.
Have you seen Lost? I had watched it when it was on, but my life got crazy around season 4 but never finished it. So recently I did. It’s a great show, and definitely an underrated show in my opinion. I also loved Farscape and Firefly. A good horror comedy movie is Tucker and Dale Vs Evil and another is Shaun of the Dead. Can you tell my special interest is film and tv? I have suggestions for days, but these are a few of the ones that came to mind if you loved Stranger Things- also The Ghostbuster franchise (old and new) are also fun. Another of my lifetime special interests is medicine (as well as history), so asylums have always been a fascinating subject for me. American Horror Story Asylum is good as well as the one with Witches and the first one as well as the carnival one, if you like horror- the other series of that show though were pretty bad. Thanks for letting me expound upon some of my special interests! That’s always fun.
I haven't seen Lost, though I remember that it was very popular. I normally don't have the patience to follow a series. My daughter also got me interested in the 'new' Sherlock Holmes.
Galvanise means to shock or excite into action, so in the context of being in bed, it might not be entirely inappropriate...if you get what I mean. I can spell it out if you want but I might need to add a content warning.😀
That's kind of you to say, though I'm presenting a version of myself in the videos - a needy show-off. Most of the time, I'm a monotonous bore lost in my own head.

Thank you very much, Tim. Also, I appreciate your *fast* response!
I think it's fascinating to learn about what people did and what they were thinking. It's very sad and outrageous how they treated people back then.
Yes, and as someone else has said, how many undiagnosed autists were locked up for simply being different?
