    I love your videos and they have helped me win many battles, and I would like to tell you my Sealion/German opening strategy that is able to work alongside a successful Barbarossa, and have won five global games with.
    Turn 1:
    Buy an airbase in Denmark, a destroyer and transports in 112. I attack France, Attack and retreat from Normandy so it's unoccupied, that way Italy can take the three IPCs free, and have an Atlantic port. I then attack southern France so Germany has the Med port, weaken Yugoslavia for Italy, and take out 110 with two subs, the battleship, and planes. I then take out 111 with a cruiser, planes, and a sub. After that, I take 106 with two subs, get Norway and leave Bulgaria for Italy. By building ships on 112 and an airbase, I can defend them with up to six scrambled planes instead of a navy, and it also allows you to navally invade Novgorod, Ninetsia, or Archangel on turn two, something I find can really mess with the USSR player's head and helps on Barbarossa, especially if you can land air units, and/or use Norway troops there, or by blitzing to Novosibirsk, denying 9 IPCs a turn.
    Turn 2:
    Buy Luftwaffe replacements, some small naval units like a sub and a destroyer, and fast ground units. Declare war on the USSR, and attempt Sealion now if the UK defenses will allow for it to reasonably happen, use all planes, land units, and bombardments available. If Sealion won't work, navally invade the USSR like I mentioned above, or even bring troops from France to the front lines against the USSR. If Sealion does work, which it normally does from my games, You have an easy path to victory by conquering the UK and USSR, it usually works as the UK player tends to be unsure if I'm Sealioning or just invading the USSR, and an aggressive Italy will put pressure on them to build in Africa, making their defense even weaker.
    After failing with this strategy due to English defenses, I was wondering how strategically sound you believe this opening actually is, so I would like it if you gave me some feedback.
    Pros:
    Cheap, versatile units, and the ability to invade the USSR if unable to do the actual Sealion operation.
    Cons:
    Can be a little weak offensively, larger Luftwaffe losses than with conventional Sealions.
    Once again, thank you so much for your Axis & Allies Knowledge and awesome videos,
    - Ron

    I just did a sealion yesterday, turn 1 fleet(carrier/sub/destroyer), turn 2 dropped 9 transports, turn 3 landed 20 troops and all my planes in london. UK thought he had me blocked by putting a destroyer in 112, experienced player so i didnt correct him then i knocked the destroyer out with italian strat bomber and sacked london turn 3, US wasn't at war as we were trying calcutta crush with japan, goal was to sack london and calcutta both on turn 3 before US was in the war. Was our first time playing YG's VP system. pretty cool :)

      Thanks Tef. Another community of 24,000 people south of here was evacuated last night when the fire jumped the highway and limited their options of getting out. They decided to evacuate now rather than wait until it was too late. Unfortunately this is becoming more and more frequent with each passing year as our planet heats up and extreme weather conditions more unpredictable. 2 years ago a forest fire came within just a couple of miles of my cabin at the lake. There is nothing you can do when Mother Nature bears down on you like that. Luckily the wind changed direction in time and the fire diverted to another direction until the rains came. It's easy to see the impact that it has on people in the news, but when it gets that close you can see the true impact when you see the animals fleeing past you as fast as they can.

    I like your emphasis on Sea Zone 113. My worst ever moment in Axis and Allies Global 1940 was successfully Sea Lioning only to leave sea zone 113 open for an empty Germany and I forget how but my opponent landed a single infantry in Germany and ruined me.

  • @Psalm144.1

    Some of my best Sea Lions I've pulled off have been with a 6 artillery / 2 infantry purchase. I was able to retreat the Bismark to SZ 112 and only left behind a UK wounded battleship which either died on G2 or tried to flee to Iceland. Sometimes a ground purchase gives a UK player a false sense of security and he didn't place 6/1 on London. Also, other factors go into like the mentioned Bismark and having won the SZ106 battle. I bombed him and dropped transports on G2 plus 1 destroyer. Then I attacked on G3 and placed a carrier in SZ110 in the channnel to protect the transports. But yes, you're right there is a scramble threat so I did have dedicate 2 fighters to a potential sea battle.I think an all ground purchase is ok for Sea Lion still because Russia comes real strong and it's hard to push back an agressive Russian player stacked on E. Poland.

    • @primroselane1
      @primroselane1  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are many different ways to accomplish Sealion. Given the extra French money on turn 2 you could purchase just about anything on turn 1 and still be able to pull it off. I have often thought about buying ground units on turn 1 just to mess with the UK player too.

  • @fenring0

    Great 'movie' 😉. No seriously, I watched it all, also the part in 42:30 where the UK transport 'hits'. But I can imagine there would be at least one slip of the tongue in a 2h video. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Myself, I am wondering if a 2 strat bomber purchase 1st round would be a good buy for Sea Lion. If it seems like a go, they could bomb the facility turn 2 for instance. If Sea Lion is of the table, they are still a great asset to Barbarossa or the Med. Greetings from a big fan of your video material

    • @primroselane1
      @primroselane1  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Barry. Any type of aircraft purchase for the Germans on the first turn is a good one because of the fact that they can be used in both the assault on London and the Eastern Front. Ironically, I had thought about doing a "Dark Skies" video when I got up this morning where you purchase a shit ton of Strat Bombers for the Germans. I decided that I needed to do more research first though because I had never used the strategy myself and wanted to learn more about it first.

    • @Psalm144.1
      @Psalm144.1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm interested to see your Dark Skies video; recently a better player did it against me. His G1 purchase was 6 art /2 inf, G2-G3 was typical mech/tanks. G4 + he started purchasing 3-5 bombers per turn with a few ground about 3-4 mech per turn. It was devastating when he got up to about 15 bombers. I never saw anything like that before.

      You can find them here;

      Make sure if you get some that they are 1/72 scale. That is the size for A&A. They are not created equally either, some brands are better than others. Stay away from the Airfix brand if you can. I started with those ones and have since replaced most of them.

    If it's that critical to save your ground units in your G1 battle for France, then why go after S France at all. It seems to me that you'd want the overwhelming force to take Paris with overwhelming forces and thus save more precious arm and inf......leave S France and Normandy for Italy.
    Just my take.

    Nice video, one question though. Do the facilities maintain the damage from bombing raid? The industrial complex had three damage left and the airfield was fully damaged at six if I recall correctly. cheers

    • @primroselane1
      @primroselane1  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good question. The airbase would continue to have the maximum 6 damage against it. The factory would also continue to have the 2 damage against it. However, if that factory had more than 6 damage against it that damage would be automatically reduced to 6 because a complex can't have more than twice the damage as the number of units that it can produce ( 6 for minor, 20 for major). So in this case if the UK didn't pay down any of the 13 damage then it would have been reduced to 6 upon capture.
      One more note that is somewhat relevant, if the Allies recapture London then the factory does not automatically revert to a major complex. It will remain a minor unless the UK decides to pay the money to improve it to a major complex.

    I think buying an aircraft carrier as Germany is the equivalent of a basketball player buying a football, it’s completely useless for what you have to do. I mean, Germany is literally 1 territory away from London via the English Channel, there’s no point in buying an aircraft carrier unless you where going to bomb America, and if that WAS the case, wouldn’t you have taken London or Moscow already? And if you hadn’t, then wasting your money on bombing America is just a waste of time and a stupid idea if you hadn’t cleaned up your still undefeated opponents in Europe.
