    I'd suggest a spare pair of socks, and a compact umbrella. You seem to have more than enough for everything else.
    I've only seen a compact umbrella in a couple of other videos, the latest was an ex Australian SAS soldier, so I was happy to see someone like that confirm my opinion.
    It's for all weathers, upside down for water collection, concealment, and just having something to shield you from the wind when you stop for a break, it doesn't take much room but makes a big difference. Highly underrated and overlooked item.

      I keep one in the truck up on the backseat. That's one thing about me is I don't limit myself to just what's in the bag. I have the idea of taking additional things or leaving unneeded things in the truck if I need to leave it. I'll be doing an update soon. Thanks brother

      I can do that, I'm a huge fan of maxpedition stuff. This time of year until New years keep an eye on their site and Amazon. They usually run good deals I got a bogo 2-3 years ago on 2 backpacks. I like this style cause it's sort of gray man if you want but has extra ability. They're fairly expensive but nowhere near as much as some can get these are in a nice midrange price

    As an ex-big city person I thought you might want to know that if your goal is to get home with your 'get home bag' you might want to consider that Maxpedition bags like most brands communicate things to other people about you. If you're outdoorsy and you use it in a non emergency situation I get it. It's de rigueur. In an emergency though...it says to some people your income level, your propensity for self defense and that its probably stocked with a lot of doodads and bits and bobs other people like too. A decently rugged Jansport reads normal person possibly carrying a book, a pullover sweat shirt and a water bottle. Just saying, you don't want to telegraph who you are to bad people in bad situations. Same with a knife on the bag. It says to bad people they may have to escalate violence to get what they want whereas something more concealed gives you an advantage even if you look like a target (which mostly comes down to the demeanor of looking like you belong where you are) My two cents. That and a metrocard get you on the subway.

    • @Dr.Prepper1
      @Dr.Prepper1  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey brother thanks for the input and info. I use to live in Brooklyn and South Florida so I'm familiar with being in a city which helped me make my kit. I'm not sure if you heard it in the video or not but I keep a regular Jansport backpack inside of a duffle bag for that exact reason. If I'm ever somewhere I feel like my maxpedition bag will stick out I can switch out. I keep an extra duffle empty in with that big duffel too. I like having options and backups 😂 thanks for being here brother I appreciate you.
      PS luckily I live in a small town surrounded by tons of small towns in North Central PA so I'm good anywhere within 60-80 miles of here with my normal bag. But if I ever travel outside of here I have that Jansport plus I'd make other accomodations if I new I was going outside my normal zone

      Couldn't agree more. My bag is a black and white plastic toiletry bag with a handle on top. It is ALWAYS with me; either in my caravan, or in my handbag or in my backpack. Sure, it weighs 1.5kg but what woman's handbag doesn't?

    • @ArcherInTraining2
      @ArcherInTraining2 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree but as much as I like these bags and little load outs I know that 80% of people with these bags will lose it or get seriously hurt to the point it doesn't matter that they have this kit because they aren't going anywhere. There are not many likely situations that will go down where people will be attacking and robbing eachother and if they are no amount of training or anything will be able to prepare you for that amount of chaos. My uncle calls it "The Drown" people get tunnel visioned in these situations and you are more likely to tunnel vision if you are a trained person trying to make a plan in a bad situation. People get drowned out by the action and then boom a rock to the head or a bat to the knee or a bullet to the hip or shoulder and your down out and being trampled if you're unlucky.

    Alot of these companies making folding saws have adopted the tricut tooth that silky uses, I still think silky is the premium option however the others are really catching up and cut pretty good anymore. The corona razor tooth folding saw is really effective, its like a cross between a silky and a bahco laplander. It has the excellent tooth design of the silky with the toughness of the laplander and its like half the price of the silky, I definitely recommend it as my budget minded option to people, especially those that may be newer to such a tool. It also comes in two different sizes to fit your needs, just make sure you get the newer version that FULLY covers the teeth when closed up otherwise it WILL bite lol. Nice kit thanks for showing! 👍

    • @Dr.Prepper1
      @Dr.Prepper1  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's an awesome piece of information, I've heard of the Coronas but never checked one out. Out I have used some different silky saws and I do really like them very well made, I haven't been able to bring myself to buy one, I've always figured the fiskars one that I have and then I have a backup one in the bed of my truck plus a large tomahawk machete and throughout the winter a chainsaw is all in my truck. I figure I can cover pretty much whatever I need with those items. I may have to check out the Corona, believe it or not though, the fiskars saw that I use is pretty damn good, especially for the cost, as far as comparing it to some of the upper echelon of folding saws, it might not quite have the bite that some of them do or the longer lasting sharpness, but I think it would hold its own for the most part, the great thing is though we have options and we have good options and quite a few of them are at a good price, thanks brother!

    As an amateur backpacker, i find less is more for me and my current endurance level.
    My GHB is the equivalent of a day hikers bag with some emergency gear if i got stuck out over night a couple days.
    40lbs and 8 miles in after a hill or mountain crossing where i live or go and id be parking it for a day or more and feel like you can make a whole BOB into that weight

    • @Dr.Prepper1
      @Dr.Prepper1  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's an understandable sentiment, but my theory is don't plan your bag out like that, my theory is put as much in your bag and your vehicle as you can, that is useful and that you know how to use and so on, if the time comes that you ever need that bag, you can at that point dictate what you take and what you leave. What you leave? Also, if you take the bag and go on foot if there comes a time you have to ditch a few items or what have you? You can make a little cash somewhere that you remember. Leave the items and continue on but don't fail yourself before you even start by not having all the necessary items that you could have because you want to maintain being lightweight. Just my opinion of course

    • @Dr.Prepper1
      @Dr.Prepper1  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Basically keep as much useful gear in the bag and your vehicle as you can then depending on the environment, the season and all the other details that could dictate what you may need can be decided on at that given point, but if you are trying to stay lightweight and you don't have this you don't have that because of trying to stay light it might be something you regret, I would rather have it and not need it then need it and not have it, you can always leave it in the vehicle, lock the vehicle and seal it up. Up or like I said if you end up leaving the vehicle with the items and there comes a point where you need to lighten the load you can do so

    • @mandaloresmercy
      @mandaloresmercy 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Dr.Prepper1 I definitely leave more in my truck that I could add if I thought I might need it and have the time. But at that point it means my truck is not operational or roads are completely blocked and I'm on foot.
      And the bag must be grab and go instantly if I'm pressured to take off quickly. If I have time to add or take out, great but I don't want to count on that.
      I highly encourage a test with your gear. Often lightly used knowing it works and how to use it is better than new. Also see how much ground you can cover in a day with a 15-20lb pack vs 50+lbs. For me I know it'll at least half my pace or worse when my goal is to get home and cover ground in as short a time as possible

    How far are you planning to have to travel with this?
    I didn’t see any layers or clean socks but 27 different knives and fire starters (exaggerating…. But only slightly and I think you get my point).
    Also the el cheapo ponchos, at least the ones I used, lasted about 3 min when we tried to use them.
    More weight = less speed.

      This bag is geared towards about 10-15 miles even a little more. Throughout the video, In the pinned comment and I think the description - I have a list of things that I have in my truck that are not pictured in this video. I talk about having insulated carhartts overalls-carhart jacket, extra socks, 2 heavy duty tarps, empty duffle empty backpack, boots and much more - in order to make an additional kit or add too and take away based on weather/season. I have a full size truck with a cap so I am able to carry a lot. Thanks for the lookout and watching brother
      My bag and truck are never done either, it's always evolving. I'm constantly working on them trying to make the best out of it that I can

    Put a plastic garbage bag inside the backpack. And stuff your items inside the garbage bag. It will conform to your backpack.

      I have a 3 day supply just for going to and from work, my fiance has an identical maxpedition backpack kitted out. I carry extra backpacks and duffle bags in my vehicle that can be kitted out from within my truck, I keep items for my kids in there as well as are other vehicle. My setups not perfect but I don't have endless amounts of money to dump in to what I'd like. Typically my fiance works with me which is a big plus a lot of the time. I'm always working on things never settling or saying it's finished. Thanks for being here brother.
      If we go further then 20-30 min from home, I bring an additional bag with me geared more towards food and feel good items

    This bag is way over kill to be a GHB. Half of this stuff is not needed to get home. If we carried all the "just in case" crap for things we might run into we might as well drive a dump truck loaded.
    Our host mentions here carrying stuff for the wife too.
    Let's us know she doesn't have her own bag and needs one.
    The kids depending on age the same. If this type thing is a life style then it must be taught to the whole family. Also this bag is loaded to the top. No room for anything found along the way. Just as an example, how many lights does this guy have in there again?????
    How many knives? How many ways to start fires? A AK cleaning kit??? Thought this was a GHB? A zipo just incase he runs into fluid? No snacks. No spare socks and undies?

      Bro I tell you everything not found in the bag during the start of the video, and in the pinned comment 😂 I store extra backpacks and duffle bags in my truck along with food snacks clothes and a plethora of other items.

    Nearly 10min in and you still haven’t opened the bag. Then you open it, everything is new not even used or tested, then you pull out the classic pos finger saw??? Not trying to be mean, but you need to rethink this for a realistic scenario. PS, wtf do you need a trowel for when your trying to get home. Geez.

    • @Dr.Prepper1
      @Dr.Prepper1  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for the constructive criticism, but every single thing in the bag has been used with the exception of the water filtration units and that is for specific reasons, I run a knife and EDC Channel as well and a lot of this stuff gets testing on that channel, I also explain in the video that when and if the time comes I ever need this bag. I can pick and choose what I take with me in the bag, and what I don't need can stay in the truck, I also have other gear/items in the front of my truck as well as under the cap in the bed of the truck that can be used. What hasn't been used is my question. I've used all the tools, all my knives, all the Ferro rods. The shit that needs to be tested has been used. I've taken this exact bag on several mile long hikes up and down the mountains here in PA. The fact of the matter is nobody will know exactly what they need because nobody can predict the situation that they could be in, so I would rather cover as many bases as I can then limit myself to thinking I will only need "these items", that is just asinine and my opinion.

      @@Dr.Prepper1 Well let me save you the trouble. Ditch the finger saw and trowel. If you need to take a shit, do your business and keep moving. Stick with your saws for wood cutting.

    • @Dr.Prepper1
      @Dr.Prepper1  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@timmoore6656 I tend to agree, that saw is all but junk, I have used it and it will do very minimal but it sort of works, the trowel is aluminum and very light, both the items of discussion are lightweight and take up little to no room and be easily ditched if need be, they can also double as other items other than their intended uses, they might not be the most premium or ideal items, which is why I have an e-tool under the back seat and I have a fiskars saw, I also keep a SOG full-size tomahawk, and a battery powered chainsaw from DeWalt in the back of my truck. My truck so I have my bases covered regardless of whether or not that one ounce rope saw is in my bag or not. It's really irrelevant to be honest with you
