I agree with you 100%. I am from Liberia and we face the same challenges. I am investing in Agriculture in Liberia. We do Palm oil, rice and vegetables. We started small but we are expanding. I currently have 8 fulltime employees. I still live in the U.S. for now. Our goal is to become the premier food producers in the Mano River Union. The biggest challenge is the dishonesty of our people. The other challenge is financing. Nevertheless my project continues. I posted a few videos on TH-cam to document our progress. 2020 will be a big year.

The hate and tribalism issue for those whose parent are not originally from Sierra Leone is real sometimes especially for the fullanies. In fact you
don't have to be born in Sierra Leone to be accepted. A Guinean or Nigerian or Ghanaian or any other African diaporeans should be fully accepted if he or she want to live in the country. Africa is one people. We still have a long way to go before our minds are united as one. This is why we need a leader for the youths. I am Maya.

@@abdulaijalloh3476 Playing the victim I see. I wonder what do they say about you. I have fula in law family, and they are doing quite well for themselves - FYI. One of them is actually the minister of education (Alhpa Timbo). Not only that but they have been prominent people in our society for quite sometime now. Also, there're many other fulas I know who are doing relatively well for themselves in Salone. So, you might want to garner a collective introspect of what is happening in Salone before you start pointing fingers on tribal issues merely.

    • @abdulaijalloh3476
      @abdulaijalloh3476 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@mohmhk I know exactly what you are talking about. But let's face the truth, there are many Sierra Leoneans onto this day that are very teibalistic and think that the fulla tribe are foreigners, even we who are born there. Our parents are Africans too. This struggle is real sometimes. I remember when I went to Sierra Leone independence party in 2017 and I tried to talk to a fellow Sierra Leonean sister and she said, you fulla man don't talk to me. This sort of issues still exists in our country. Wode Maya don't know this issue exists in our country but let me say this, Sierra Leone and Guinea Conakry, are some of the worst teibalistic countries in Africa. This is fact according to research in Africa. I love my country but let's don't hide the truth. Even the current first lady faced lots of issues when president Bio just took power, because of her origin. Tribalism is real in Sierra Leone and this has to stop brothers and sisters. We are all Africans and Africa is one.

As long as we in the diaspora continue to work as individuals when it comes to investing in Africa, it will take many years before we will see change. Please believe us when we say the majority of us are not rich. We live on credit which has the appearance that we are wealthy. However, I do believe if we establish Africa Investment Clubs in every state in the diaspora, we can put our money together and contribute collectively to make a difference sooner than later. Thank you 🙏🏾 for being vulnerable enough to show your true feelings for this country. I pray God gives us all the knowledge and tools to assemble and do justice for Africa....Ashe’

Thank you for sharing your true feelings. You are absolutely right Maya ! We as a people have to stand up inside ourselves and do better. Just think about it. I’m an AFRICAN born in America, my family Survived slavery and that’s a beautiful thing to have over come that but at what cost ? It’s like we left our brothers and sisters and we never came back to share the knowledge or wealth. Growing up here I was never told to explore Africa or invest or help our brothers and sisters. Not until I started watching your channel I NOW understand how much I’m missing out on. How blessed we are to have Mama Africa and she’s still standing and waiting with open arms. You make me want to explore and come back to share what I have learned in these 37years of life. I now know there is a great need and I am sad to. Sad that it’s taken so long for us to consider coming back to help and develop our continent. Sad that I live in a nation that made an effort to keep me unaware and Ignorant, we are brainwashed here for there purpose.
We are here working and build their Nation. Making their CEO’s rich. We have learned from the oppressor how to live in his nation and shoot for the so called American Dream. It was never for us. Most black Americans live paycheck to paycheck and that’s it. If I lost my job tomorrow I could not do anything other then go live with my parents and try and start over. They keep the wealth from us because they are scared that if we are Financially independent we can now think and build just like them.
Where I live in Houston their are so many Africans that say that they never want to go back because it’s to hard to live back home or the people are so poor and have nothing and when you have a little more then them, you tend to have to watch your stuff. Yet here I am wishing I had a connection to a home now after watching every One of your videos! Wishing I had a language to call my own. We should be a shame to run and leave by choice. We don’t have a vision to be whole and as One. To us American ! It’s time. It’s time to taking sew skills and our blessing back even if you only go once or twice a year just to connect and make some kind of business connect. We have to help solve the problem. It’s a lot on our shoulders but we have to get free of the debt here in this country and once we are free of loans then we can help build home.

I know this comment is from 3 years back but I love it. Its beautiful and well said.
I’m Sierra-Leonean but born and raised in Germany. So I feel you but when I had the understanding to truly find home, I at least had a family and country to turn to. What you described, was exactly what I was thinking specially during the viral times of Black Lives Matter. That system was not build for black people. I know it’s not easy for you guys but it’s time, go and find your home.
When you really understand where you come from, you will always be proud from the inside and nobody will ever be able to put you down.
Africa was not, is not and will never be what the white man want us to think.

Music is a very powerful catalyst for social change. We have afrobeats drumming it way into aIrwaves all around the world! That's how big our influence is! It is a New Day for Africa.

    SORRY FOR LONG COMMENT!
I really appreciate your honesty. I recently learned that my ancestors were from Sierra Leone. I was excited to return to my ancestral home as I began to research the history and country. BUT I, have to be honest I was truly heartbroken at the state of the people, the country, and the government, ect. The senseless poverty. Plus the vast contrast between the wealth and living conditions of the foriegn occupants and indigenous people of the land. It was as if Sierra Leone was the slum of Africa and set up much like Europe (with the have and the have nots). I also feel that all the historical information is short, lacking and/or fall in the area of being truly depressing or negative. To top it off it seem to be still plagued with political dictatorship, greed and genocide through manufactured decease and chemical extermination experiments on the people by foreign nations. All that being said. For an African of the diaspora to just move to Africa in search of freedom and opportunity is a big leap of faith. But for us to even consider moving from one horrible evil slave system of suffering to an even worse situation is very unlikely. I wouldn't consider South Africa for the same reason and it's infrastructure is far more stable. But the government is still to questionable and there is far far to much non African wealth, power and business ownership. I have been watching you and Trudy videos very closely since you arrived hoping to have my mind changed in maybe reconsidering relocating in Seirra Leone. But could quickly tell through the lack of content, and videos you guys have done that things arent going well and even you are finding it difficult to ignore the horrible state of the country. It's sad because my people have such a beautiful spirit. I do plan to invest once I build a foundation for my family. But can't put my families future, and life savings into a failing, currupt infrastructure that exploits its own people and resources. That wont help anyone. I don't mean to be all negative but this is the truth from my perspective.

What is simply means is this, if he is in their shoes with money they have acquired over time, he will rather come home and build the country instead of staying abroad and turn their home country into another slave camp.
This is a POSITIVE CRITICISM and don't see it as an attack but a challenge.

The government need to put in place some regulations preventing foreigners owning large percentage businesses like other Africans country. We will not stop investing our little change back home for those of us who are trying our best to do something back home. So all of that tourist money is barely going to the native Jamaicans smh. I come from a city in the states that has a very large Jamaican population and Jamaicans have businesses all throughout that city so I don't understand how this could be happening in their home country. Hey! I'm a Sierra Leonean living in exile and I actually went back to invest and had to forfeit in loses in around 30k. Generally speaking, let's just say there is a negative and a positive side of business' outcome, and unfortunately for me I ended up having to endure the negative side of things. I also know quite few of us who have went back to take on this venture just to lose in the end. My friend, I know your heart's in the right place but we as sierra Leoneans have way bigger problems than merely opening mini supermarkets and resorts close to our beaches. We have an education and cultural problem, just like many, if not all black nations. An immaterial process within us has to happen before any real progress is achieved. Until then nothing is going to change. We will continue to circle around bragging about how beautiful our lands are and how much resources we supposedly have.

so many Sierra Leoneans want to come back home and invest but going through the process is fustrating, people in authority past and present Government discourage the average Sierra Leonean because of Bribes by the foreigners. Foreigners have more privilege in Sierra Leone that's the main reason

I think speaking from experience I don't think people do not want to go back and invest, but I think investment takes time. You can't be living in the west and think that you will be doing business with our families out there, because they will destroyed it and I am a victim of that. But again that is course by the misconception our people have about the west thinking that things are so easy that we get money easily. I in particular have tried to educate my family about the hustle we go through every day in the west in order to send something to start a business or even paying school fees for some, but some of them listening and not working with it and some of them just think you are too greedy or you talk too much. Well I have the intention to go back and invest in agriculture by God's grace, but first have to finish building. That way I do not have to stay in my family house or in a rented house, because if am coming to farm have to be there for good and involve in it. I might be over the topic but that's my take. Thank you Wode Maya for your kindle observation and thank you for venting out your anger/concern. I will definitely share this in all the group that am part of.👍👍

This is sooo true. They will be destroying instead of helping you. They think here in the west you dont even have to work, you get free money. I think one of the great problems is the mindset of the people. And many of them are very lazy. They think: i have sombody in the west, so when i need something i will call that person for help. Forgetting that , that person has his or her own bills and so on to pay. The farms are wasting, many dont want to do farm work.....i am soo sick and tired of that kind of mentality. I could go on and on.....love you guys

When I was in Sierra Leone my family was into agriculture so when I came to the US I make sure to save up enough money to send them to buy a plot of land to continue doing agriculture, but they use the money for God knows what. some of us here are trying our best but our people over there need to change the mentality it’s not easy to make money anywhere in the world they think we get it so easy here. I still wanna do Argo culture this time around I’m trying to prepare myself enough to go over there to over-see the projects.
