Malaysia is damn expensive now, with hyperinflation. The prices you need to pay is very high, even after currencyconversion (X3). It’s only cheap if you live a very low quality lifestyle, and live in rural locations in pahang, perak, terenganu, etc.

It is all about relative cost. The video compares both countries and prices in Malaysia is very cheap relative to Singapore. Yes I would agree that for locals in Malaysia it is very expensive.

That's why many Malaysians work in Singapore for 3.5x the money then they go back to Johor to spend, buy big house, buy Tesla and buy quality imported goods. Thanks to Singapore just 1km away from Malaysia. God bless

Well compared and presented. Against certain items, Malaysia can be very cheap. I bought a certain top grade brand of toothpaste - made in Germany, it was Rm14.75 and the same item in Singapore costs S$8.95. Wow, that's almost 100% cheaper in Malaysia.

Wow that's really a great price in Malaysia. If converted back to USD, it is as u said, 100% cheaper. Buy 2 for the price of 1.

My dear friend, Malaysians salary and earnings are much lower than Singaporeans. If average Singaporean earn S$4k a month, can a malaysian earn RM14k a month with the same job? Its now RM3.5 to $1

Hi. I stayed in Singapore for 12 years and fondly remember crossing over to JB for more value for money shopping. Now considering moving to Malaysia (from Australia). I have a small baby too. Hence wondering which Malaysian cities offer good value for money while providing excellent educational opportunities too. Please suggest. Possibly a good topic for a video too :) Appreciate your Vlogs

Hi there! Thanks for watching our videos!
We did extensive videos on Penang cost of living and retirement as we really feel that Penang is the best state to live in. There are many international schools in Penang, a healthy expat community and of course, the best hawker food. You also have the sun, beach, sea and hills.
Feel free to watch all the Penang videos we have made so far and of the other states.

    Good comparison!
In summary: Am I right to say that it’s important to decide what food related items to purchase when you are residing in SG and when you are visiting Malaysia.:- that a Singaporean should purchase More locally SG produced items when in Singapore 🇸🇬 and less Sg imported goods and alternatively purchase More imported items when in Malaysia (Starbucks coffee) due to the strength of SG$ and one also ought to purchase More of the Malaysian locally produced items (house) when going to Malaysia due to the stronger currency exchange rate?

Thank you! We appreciate your feedback!
In essence, if one is very cost conscious, to make their money work hard for them, it does make more sense to purchase international brands in Malaysia due to the strong currency conversion for Singaporeans. Of course, that being said, Singaporeans have higher purchasing power in Singapore so they don't feel the pinch as much as Malaysians when buying international products eg Starbucks.
At the end of the day, cheap is relative. Expensive is also relative. Hence it is not fair to say that Malaysia is cheap and Singapore is expensive. We hope we got that message across in our video! ❤️
