Strile slip earthquakes do not generate a tsunami because the movement is side to side, but the type of earthquake was not known initially. Subduction zone eathquakes thrust the earth up and that is what generates the strknest earthquakes and tsunamis.

@@bradwillis6591 I used to think like both of these sides but i think both viewpoints here just have a misunderstanding of philosophy. Need to actually study it more instead of making false correlations and listening to church or anti-church people. For most western religions life is more of a test. "God's mercy" wouldn't mean you don't die or suffer in this life. Your prayer didn't save someone while someone else's prayer failed another. If you study these works outside of church culture and religious debates, their philosophy makes more sense. If you don't believe in God or an afterlife then death and suffering is the worst thing in mortal life but it's paramount in most deity religious beliefs that being forsaken by god or gods and punishment in after life is the worst.
Not even from the huge 9.2 Alaskan quake in 1964. I remember we went out to ocean beach in San Francisco just down from the Cliff House and right across from Playland at the beach because a tsunami alert was in effect from the 9.2 quake that happened in the waters just off the Alaska coast, but nothing ever reached down to ocean beach in San Francisco. 👍🌉
In 2011 after the Tohoku earthquake in Japan a tsunami eventually reached Crescent City. It was large by any means, but it did wreck the docks along the coast of the town.
All I'm going to say is, it's never good to wish death upon someone. I remember Cardi B and many other wishing catastrophe on red states. Never do that. Blue state, red state, we are all vulnerable to a catastrophic scenario like this one. I just hope, first, it doesn't happen, and second, that people receive the help that will be needed if it happens.
🙋♀️ Hey! A person with common sense! We should definitely not wish destruction on each other no matter what our differing beliefs are. I'm not sure why that is a hard concept for some. I feel like those faults in California have been gearing up for a while now.
Love everything about this...logic AND empathy?! Thank you both for putting your enlightening comments up. Seems like in a world with so much to bear (that we pretty much have to struggle through) fighting fire with fire only creates more fire. Ideally, if people would do all the stuff we *talk about doing, we could at least survive and deal with the controllable, and maybe be stronger for things like this, that just happen. (In my opinion that I realize nobody asked for) Thank you again for such level headed and respectful comments. Stuff like this is a nice distraction from crushing depression and anxiety. Makes me wish for a quick aneurysm a little less. 😊❤
10.0 has never been recorded ever. 7 isn't tiny either. These numbers are measured on a logarithmic scale not arithmetically - 7.0 is 10x amplified vs a 6.0 and 100x amplified vs a 5.0
It's not the size of the quake it's the motion of the ocean 😂 really it's the type of quake. Was it a back and forth plate slip or a drop or a collision of plates. This actually might be the prequel to a much more violent quake. Depending on the movement that caused this one. Friends in the area say this was a gentle rocking motion compared to previous ones that felt like the house fell or dropped. The dropping ones are the bad ones.

Sonoma county here. Love Garberville!
@@doodlepops707 i miss garberville

Heading to the coast to check out the wave 🌊
I did not feel the earthquake at the California/Oregon border but did take photos and a video of the tsunami event. Wish there was a way to upload them but I suppose having an option like that would be opening up a pandora's box.
there was no tsunami event. it was a false alarm. whatever you saw was unrelated.
Be calm, calm down just relax and calm down
People need to get to safety, yes, it cud be nothing, but we don’t know that. Don’t take the risk
@@ecurewitzcud is something a cow chews smh.
Water is very calm today
Be safe yah all California/ Oregon 🙏
This was a magnitude 2 earthquake that identifies as a magnitude 7.
as someone that experienced it im gonna have to HARD disagree. this was a huge earthquake
Thai reminds me of the 2018 7.1-7.2 quake one Alaska, also many don’t know but Alaska has way more strong earthquake and frequent earthquakes as long as 2 active volcanoes I can se from my house and many faults miles from where I live
I didn't know Bush Jr. became a TV presenter.😮
Eureka!
Bonjour. 7 Magnitude is very strong quake
I live in California, where all just fine. Just yes stay away from the coast water.
The US is testing it's new hyersonic missle .
Me 10 blocks away from SF coastal water
Stay safe, go to higher ground! Away from water.
Stay safe baby 🙏
Please be careful.
Too bad the epicenter wasn't Mar-A-Lardon!
I was sailing down the west coast of the US and was right over the epicenter, was wild
Stay safe from England 🏴
This earthquake was guided angelically to relieve stress in places where high pressure built up in the tectonic plates
The tsunamis that struck Crescent City was from a earthquake in Alaska.
A lot of infrastructure has since been installed but the docks and commercial fishing infrastructure will certainly be damaged.
I remember walking through Crescent City a couple of days after the tsunamis. I was very impressed at the damage generated by the waves of ocean that slid onto the land, removing buildings and countless cars and trucks, leaving them in piles.
I'm 38 in CA Earthquakes are overrated. There wasn't a good one since I was a kid. Everything else is nonsense, including this. And there's never been a tsunami hit. I'm more worried about overseas war and taxes. And Where does trying to have neutral bathrooms
just because you didn't feel it doesn't mean it was nonsense ☠ my parents were alive for the big ones in the 80s and 90s and my mom was genuinely more scared in this one than she was when she was alone in an earthquake at age 14
I live in Humboldt's micropolitain. That was an interesting experience; it was this weird juxtaposition of slight panic in some people and just 'business as usual' for most others.
The warning was already lifted
What they're not telling you is tsunami is gonna bring in Godzilla!
Q feo ojala no ocurra situaciones graves Dios guarde a los E U🙏desde Bogota😯
Get your longboard out and charge it!
Big wave surfing!
No worries! Trump will issue a 300% tariff on tsunamis!
Work on life, not comedy. You're failing both. Start by getting one.

Your a terrible comedian
not surprising!!! the orange man is a uneducated piece of shit!!! you people fell for him now unfortunately we are all going to suffer from your stupidity!!!!

sorry to disappoint you, if you are going to look on his record, he is totally NOT good on vetting, parsing, selecting on these type of incidence.... just saying..hehehe
If you think god has mercy on innocent people, you haven't been paying to attention to literally all of human history

Has there ever been a big tsunami in Cali coast history
Not even from the huge 9.2 Alaskan quake in 1964. I remember we went out to ocean beach in San Francisco just down from the Cliff House and right across from Playland at the beach because a tsunami alert was in effect from the 9.2 quake that happened in the waters just off the Alaska coast, but nothing ever reached down to ocean beach in San Francisco. 👍🌉
In 2011 after the Tohoku earthquake in Japan a tsunami eventually reached Crescent City. It was large by any means, but it did wreck the docks along the coast of the town.
@@michaeldeierhoi4096 they also found a boat from Japan that belonged to the row team of some univ. HSUs row team repaired and returned it.
only in Washington State. They found old trees smashed and buried 100 feet underground within 3 miles of the ocean.
@@michaeldeierhoi4096 In SF in 2011, there was a 3 foot tsunami wave. Santa Cruz got hit harder and many boats were smashed up.
(In my opinion that I realize nobody asked for)
Thank you again for such level headed and respectful comments. Stuff like this is a nice distraction from crushing depression and anxiety. Makes me wish for a quick aneurysm a little less. 😊❤
Reinforce that city the best you can you gotta stay safe
And the orange man is looking to disband NOAH. A very important warning system. Just ridiculous.

But it was a actual earthquake.
"I tell ya this girl I use to date was big & fat. She jumped on a weight scale and a card came out that said, one at a time" 👌
I felt that...
That's a tiny tiny quake , we need 10.0 to barely make good news
@@zstarsurfer He sounds confused because he can't decide if he is alpha or delta!? 😅😂
@InStevenWeTrust mohenjo daro was destroyed with 10+ earthquake according to archeological findings but these teachings are kept aways from the west for some reason
California is not a place to be today. And we are here 🤦🏼
Sacramento here, near-ish to the earthquake in Cobb. Felt nothing.
