How is there only 81 comments here? Man this is music is off the hook. This is this bands apex. Both John's and Adam Deitch. It does not get better then this. Full stop. Also Avi Bortnick is the moose on the loose. This band is driving here. You better believe it.
You better believe it. Sadly he has been replaced with someone not remotely at this level of play. This IMO is the bands best recorded performance by a long shot.
Just caught these guys a few hrs ago in a small hall in Chicago .. Fckkkng inCREDible!!! one of the funkiest things I have EVER heard.. Avi Bortnick is the secret weapon here, handling Rhythm guitar ( soooo coool) , samples & Laptop. This is a different kinda Scofield band, verrry funky & loose, groove oriented.. but just SOO damn well done. Sco continues to amaze!!
Im amazed at how this artist can change with change. He's better now than Ive ever seen him.A true musician, he keeps pushing forward. His line at around 18:30 is nuts.
Right, Sco puts the "jazz" guitar into a complete another envirement. Eclectro, acid-afrobeat-funk whatever, it's just damn awesome. Go ahead, John !!!
What a pleasure to listen to musicians who know what they're doing, have fun doing it and know how to share it with audience. Lots of life and pulse in this music, it's like a living and breathing organism
Thanks for sharing this brilliant performance. I can't get over how much I love Avi Bortnick's playing - feel, time, syncopation, he is SO on! The whole band blows me away!!!
I share your admiration of Avi Bortnick's guitar playing. One of the best things Scofield has done was hiring him as a band member. I'll have to check out some of Avi Bortnick's solo projects.... if he has any...(?) Definitely worth the search!
Glenn Michael Thompson I believe Avi Bortnick's writes most of the songs here. I've yet to see anything from this band that sounds as good as this show. I believe they went to another drummer which is too bad since the new drummer can't hold a candle to Adam Deitch. There is a much newer video of this band on youtube that was professionally done with multiple camera's etc. Yet, I keep going back to this show. This could be the bands apex. A must watch.
I saw the original Uberjam tour back in 2003, (or was it 2002?) in Tahoe City in the middle of a snowstorm; one of my top five concert experiences ever!
fakking love Sco and this band...one thing, though=if I were the drummer I would freak a bit having the bass man stare at me the entire time...yes, locked in or whatever, but you know?
This is a great vid - thanks so much for sharing this! I saw the same tour but the sound was really bad the night I saw them :( I will say that in your vid - maybe because of TH-cam encoding? - the bass is extremely lean compared to what Hess sounds like IRL. If there's any way you could work on the mastering a little more and get the bass right it would be a dream come true! In any case, thanks for sharing this great set. Michael
I think I already know the answer, but when you see a drummer with headphones on like this it means they're listening to a click track right? In-ear monitor systems wouldn't cover the entirety of both ears, not the ones I've seen anyway. And they're doing more than noise reduction by the looks of it because there's a chord attached. Just wondering. I know that some drummers DO play to a click in live scenarios, I've just never seen it (on tape or in person).
Word up, I would enjoy seeing more of Scofield enjoying Deitch's playing, like after Deitch's solo that starts at 31:50. Sco makes it obvious that he dug it at 32:30 but it's among the only times he appears on camera during the show.
Cucciolo Konoplyank: Didn't have time to take note when each tune starts, but that's what they play in order: 1 - Snake dance 2 - Every night is ladies night 3 - Ideofunk 4 - I brake for monster booty 5 - Boogie stupid 6 - Dub dub 7 - Endless summer 8 - Freaking disco/Endless summer
My dad went out and gigged THE SAME NIGHT his father died. You know why? Because for some people music IS their grieving process. I hope that I have a gig lined up the night I lose my father because that's what he would want me to do. You're giving Bill Hicks a bad name. Shame on you!
How dare you? Maybe Sco & his wife (who's his business partner & manger) decided that going on w/life was the best thing they could do. Would you expect someone w/an office job to not be at work weeks after similar events? Just b/c his job gives him joy, should he have stayed home & do penance for something that wasn't his fault? Also, he had a responsibility to his band & all the other people involved w/the tour. Bully for Sco. You? You're disgusting.

bless you and the Uberjammers everywhere
Adam Deitch is a master

Hi, mate! Thank you very much indeed for posting it!
I love Scofield and Deitch!
Sco's new album Uberjam Deux is so incredibly funky- I love it! Great video, excellent sound quality- thumbs way up! Thanks for sharing!
thank you
LISTEN!!!! The drummer Adam Deitch has a New Orleans background and is mixing live drums with a percussion track .Hence the headphones.
Right, Sco puts the "jazz" guitar into a complete another envirement. Eclectro, acid-afrobeat-funk whatever, it's just damn awesome. Go ahead, John !!!
great concert! Nice sound Thanks for sharing.
LOVE this line-up!
Only wish they would do a third album/tour. They have it going for sure.

Yes, some of Avi Bortnick's solo projects could be very interesting indeed!

HiPlains1 Yes the playing here is great! I'd like to watch the newer video with more cameras etc. Just to hear the difference.
The newer video is on you tube. Just Google it.

I LIKE this group ! And Adam Deitch is a very good drummer with a good groove !
thanks for the upload, beautiful!
So unbelievably excellent....
Scofield and the boys are so comfortable this whole set; nobody's trying to show off or take over.
their CD Up All Night was my first introduction to this lineup - delightful
god thank you for this.
I saw the original Uberjam tour back in 2003, (or was it 2002?) in Tahoe City in the middle of a snowstorm; one of my top five concert experiences ever!
I love Andy hess he's a great pocket player.. One of my faves. I saw him with Govt. Mule a few times back when......
Fenomenal!
fakking love Sco and this band...one thing, though=if I were the drummer I would freak a bit having the bass man stare at me the entire time...yes, locked in or whatever, but you know?
Avi is such a wizard!
nuts
Yep!
great
Living Legend.
Avi is funky as hell
Andy Hess 👍
I dig this healthy, expansive, simple funky stuff. Drummer seems to be a bit tired sometime, still, one of the best music available in this times.
Andy is so locked in on Deitch, how the drummer bass player relationship should be 😊🤘
John Scofield - Uberjam - Live@Paradox -Tilburg -The Netherlands -10 november 2013!
@
So Deep!
Wow!
Brilliant!
Single word says it best!
First nr sounds like a fela kuti song and omg what a drummer . Scofield is never boring
ye,bro!That's what I'm talking about...

Tasty Sco riffs at 11:13 and 11:15.
this is awesome sh*t ..but why is Sco's mike of camera...stoked yet little disappointed....wondering why no one else commented on it. regardless Thx

FUNK
Sco on a tele... o.O

1 - Snake dance
2 - Every night is ladies night
3 - Ideofunk
4 - I brake for monster booty
5 - Boogie stupid
6 - Dub dub
7 - Endless summer
8 - Freaking disco/Endless summer
Can't believe there are 14 haters in this world.......
I know. How can anyone hate on this.. This is Scolfied at his peak.
Full Aguilar Rig & I can't even hear the bass player? Something's not quite right with the mix.
No it was the recording unfortunately.
Scofield going afrobeat! :D
What are all those puffs of smoke I keep seeing? I think someone in the audience is puffing on a marijuana cigarette.
Daren or Joy Davidson goodness, I hope not!
What's wrong with that? It's a music festival... Different strokes for different folks
You sound like my boss daren
I wonder what that smoke is that rises from the audience every so often? Everybody looks like they're into health food...

@bill hicks
Judge much? Who are you to decide the grieving process of a complete stranger?
OTT
Cat stevens
arrangements are random, great band though
