I did the same to my strawberries but I left them in place. Next year I will uproot them an clean all the brown completely out.
Someone said I couldn’t do that. I told them I have been doing it this way for the last five year. It works. Get more and more strawberries each year.
Awesome! I see some home canning on the horizon with all those strawberry plants. What a treat!!! 🍓🍓🍓
We love strawberries! We eat them fresh and frozen in smoothies.
Thank you for making your videos, I am a hands on, visual learner and the more examples I watch, the better I understand what I have to do, i don’t know why but I can read the book all day long and it just doesn’t compute in my head🤦♀️, I know I’m not the only one who is like this, so thank you for the many videos, even if they are repeated, the slight differences really help us. Cindy
You are very welcome Cindy. If you keep watching, I'll keep putting up new videos.
Thank you for sharing the Mittleider method. I recently learned about this method and purchased the book and the micronutrients. I hope they help me have a better year gardening. Last year was my first year gardening. Mostly a big failure, but I sure did learn a lot! I’m hoping this year goes better as I learn about this method and try to implement it. I hope you continue to share more videos about this method with us.
I love seeing things happen! yum!
Thank you for the detail instructions. It was very helpful. First time to plant ever. I’m going ti buy your nutrient pack. Really, i’m very appreciate for the planting guidance from both you and your wife. God bless y’all.
By the way, I’m planting in. Chesapeake Va
Thank you for commenting. This will work great in VA. Enjoy the great garden!
Getting the containers ready for the apartment this week. 🙏 Brand new at this and kind of wishing I could get all the info from the book by osmosis 🤗 Not how it works, I know... 😊 We have storms coming in today. Blessings to both of you and thank you.🕊
Awesome Marie. Good for you for taking action.
Thank you for all of your help.
Man this is a great channel

Thank you. Take care.
You two rock
We have supper sandy soil here, would I only need to add sawdust then, or homemade wood chips that have been composting for a year?
I'm starting some seeds today! I can't get any coarse sand and saw dust today, so can I just use Jiffy's seed starting mix that I have on hand but then follow the Mittleider instructions? The Jiffy mix has peat moss, vermiculite, and coconut coir in it and of course I'll add the pre plant mix to that to start my seeds in. Will that work?
I made this mix up a few years ago, and it got terribly clumped. It's very dry and hot where I live in the summer, and I kept the bucket closed and stored in the garage. Any suggestions?
Hello April. Yes, on the instruction sheet I recommend adding 1/2 pound of perlite to the 30 lb mix. I then keep it in a cool, dry space. That has worked well for me. Perlite is the trick and keeping it in a cool place, with the lid sealed on your bucket.
Nice I just dont have a green thumb
You will instantly if you follow the simple step-by-step method in the Mittleider gardening course book. That is all I do. Nothing special.
Not yet with practice you will. I know you'll be great.
This is my first year after the last time 30 years ago when I was a teen. Now my hubby and I are excited and trying to do it all right the first time around. We have lots of farmers 10 miles away we see frequently and help us. Hubby is excited because he loves fresh vegetables and I love it because I grew up eating it being self sufficient and it helps us save money. Our farmers also barter.
Off topic, in Southern Tx. We knew about straw insulation to keep pumpkin and melon over winter. But, during the week found the missing pumpkin! It sounds alright, but had turned green. Not moldy. Am concerned, as it was likely frozen several days at least 3x. Can it be used for seed? Not sure if possibly safe for the pets. Answers anyone? Blessings and thank you, in advance.
How would you apply your nutrient mix to a sq foot garden? I bought some then decided on sq foot garden.
Thank you for asking. The instructions on how to apply to square feet are on the instruction page that comes with the package. "Sprinkle 4 cups per 100 sq. ft. (10x10).
Isn't it time to rotate the strawberries?
With the Mittleider gardening method there is no need to rotate any plants or crops. I've visited a Mittleider garden that has never been rotated in 25 years. The reason is we don't stress the soil because we provide the plant nutrients, the soil doesn't.
@@LDSPrepper that actually is quite impressive! Thanks so much! God bless you and your garden. 🍓🙏
Amazing
do you have any videos on how to plant asparagus?
I haven't planted asparagus but am really considering doing that this year. I just don't know if I want to wait 2 years for my first harvest.
I have asparagus growing in PA 6a indoors and they sprouted within 4 weeks but this is normal. I use grow lights sterilized the soil and keep an eye on the plants. I don’t expect to harvest for 2 years because we are bartering for fresh while we grow ours over that time. It would be worth the wait in the end because once planted and grows it will grow for 30 years.
