    I bought the game in August and got it a few days ago, I am really enjoying it solo and I'd like to try it with other players. I think they got the Dark Souls spirit right this time, it's fun and easy to learn and play (but still difficult if you have bad luck or make noob mistakes). I recommend this purchase to Dark Souls fans for sure.

    Looking forward to try this game love the video game series.
    Thanks guys! Finally found reviewers that like the same kind of games I do. I have bough 5 games because of your reviews and so far the five are amazing (Fantasy Realms, Bunny kingdoms, Whistle Stop, Clank In Space and Tiny Epic Quest).

    At about 13:00 did anyone notice the card has the wrong name? That item is called "Human Dregs." Steamforged -_-

    Great review. I hope the mini boardgame gets some more love and gets better with expansions. Hopefully steamforged is commited to release updated versions of their rulebooks. To be fair. Minis and ccg'ish rules usually needs to be in version 3.5 before they are awsome.

    This review made me decide to open this game instead of selling off. Was very disappointed with the boardgame, here's hoping the card game is a winner

      mussolini headkick so how was it?

    • @mussoliniheadkick
      @mussoliniheadkick 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      CettoTheCesco Much better than the boardgame. The grind isn't tedious, the deckbuilding is good and the boss fights are fun. Hard to win, but that's what you expect from the DS series.
      The rulebook is terrible though, which is a shame. The components are really good and expansions in future is very possible.
      Doesn't have a tonne of replayability, but played infrequently this is a good game.

    I remember awhile back commenting on this game on another video thinking Nah, boring.
    It actually looks interesting now I've watched this video.
    Wish list maybe.

    I have a rules question. During the Player Activations the book states you can swap between characters freely. Does this only refer to turn order? Or are the turns more fluid?
    A: P1 Must take entire turn then P2.
    or
    B: P1 Can attack then P2 attack then P1 move.

    • @gamegoblins2682
      @gamegoblins2682 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only time you can freely exchange cards is at a Bonfire.

    • @jtucker87
      @jtucker87 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I never mentioned cards. I was referring to turn order.

    • @rayc7914
      @rayc7914 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      attacking and movement can only be done once per turn for every character in which if 2 characters want to swap places, both have to use their movement. These aside, turn order is completely optional and is decided by the players etc. B that you mentioned.

    question here. If you have a 2 stamina card but the action required for a card is only 1 stamina, can you still make the action or you need the exact number of stamina?
    Thanks!

    • @soddof7972
      @soddof7972 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Guillaume Guimond-Croteau yes you can but in essence you are "overpaying" to use the action.

  • @DonnydeOlim

    I like this game... I really do, BUT I have played alone a few times, and I always reached a point where one character just don't do anything at all (usually the Wizard).
    Because I'm alone, it's not such a big deal, because I do everything else with all the other characters, but if I was playing with a group of friends, I think that character's player will not enjoy too much the game. So... maybe the problem is about how the basic deck is constructed and/or evolved in time. Any advice?

    • @rayc7914
      @rayc7914 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you only consider your character attacking as doing something, then theres no solution becuz randomization is needed. its not like there's 10 kings of spades in a poker deck. If everyone's player can attack every turn then it becomes a routine and theres no variation in the game, thus the game has no replay value. If there's a group of friends you would need to discuss the tactics anyway thus I dont see a player not doing anything at all. Just my opinion >

    A huge gameplay element in Dark Souls is having one chance to reclaim lost souls if you die. Is that implemented here? Also you only lose souls when you die in the video game, not equipment or treasure.

    • @Calixtus
      @Calixtus 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you complete an Encounter, the Souls and Treasures gained go into a Loot Pile. Once you complete a further Encounter, a new Loot Pile is created, while the previous Loot Pile is transferred into your Inventory.

    • @philipjohnson935
      @philipjohnson935 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The answer to your question is: no. If you die you cannot reclaim what you lost in any scenario

    Steamforged screwed up the board game massively in my view. As a huge DS video game fan, it was a huge disappointment, sold off my pledge after 3 plays. Don't think i'll trust them again with this IP. I'll give it a try if someone else i know has it, or at a convention as a demo. But they will be hard pressed for me to spend money on any of their products again. Great video as always though guys.

      How did they screw it up? Hard mode: make no mention of the delayed DLC

    • @Neadric
      @Neadric 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      in my opinion the random loot system is what kills it. We farm and farm souls, only to go back to town and flip the top card, and oh look it's a downgrade or item no one can use yet. Really drags the game out a bit, and does not feel like the video game at all. Sure there are house rules, but i shouldn't have to house rule the game :)

    • @ramenlewdles1998
      @ramenlewdles1998 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Neadric If it werent for the random loot system youd literally just roll the game though, its easy to know what weapons are good so the moment you know which weapon is good youd just always buy that one and then steamroll the game every time

    • @Neadric
      @Neadric 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      true enough, i understand it from a balance perspective, but other dungeon crawls have done better loot systems. have it with tiered loot as in, level 1 loot available until you beat the mini boss (with higher level stuff possible from chests) and level two after the first boss, and so on, with like 5-10 items publicly view able at the "vendor" so at least you know your choices instead of playing the slot machine loot every time. Obviously these are just examples, and i don't claim to be a game designer, but when everything else about the game feels like "Dark Souls" the loot system feels out of place thematically, because in all the games when you went back to town and spoke to a vendor, they didn't have random items every time.
      And as i'm sure you know from playing the video game, you can have the best items in the world, and still get wrecked by everything in that game. Which i think is what the dice are supposed to simulate me thinks. They clearly poured a lot of thought into everything else in the game, the "big stack of random cards" feels like an after thought.
      Looking through their forums when it first released, there were countless posts on house ruling the loot system to make it palatable, and make the game not a 3 hour grind session.
      but that's just me, if you enjoy the game great, and i REALLY do hope that i'm wrong about the card game. I tried really hard to enjoy the board game (partially since i backed it) and just could not enjoy it in it's current state without house rules.

    Looking at all the cards in this game, it looks more like “Dark Souls 3 the Card Game” than “Dark Souls the Card Game” since there is more in it from the third game. That’s a bit disappointing since the title suggests the first Dark Souls game, which is the one in the series I prefer over 3.

  • @DCAMM720

    Eh, guessing this will suck as much as the board game. Seems to have okay production value but the game is just bland.

    • @Reakt00r
      @Reakt00r 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Honestly, it just botters me that both the Dark Souls board game and this one just have ''okay'' production value, I personally expect more with such an IP.
