- We have stayed at many Secrets and competing brand Adults Only properties in the Riviera Maya Cancun Area over the past 15 years. We were excited to finally visit the flagship Maroma resort and find out for ourselves if the resort stands up to all the high praise. You will pay a bit of a premium price, but in return get fantastic service, food, and accommodations. Is it one of our favorites, watch and find out?

Just returned from there for a 60th birthday surprise bash gift from my wife, with 11 of our good friends. We loved the resort and everything about it. Our only complaint would be that other than the main bar and the Sports bar, the other pool side bars closed at 6:30. My wife and I will definitely be going back.

Did you stay preferred club? Was it worth it?
I’m trying to decide between Secrets The Vine and Secrets Maroma. Would you see that there were any particular Major standouts between the 2 as it relates to service, food and entertainment.
there is this really in depth video by a channel called passport pages where she ranks all the secrets resorts, I believe she had secrets Maroma at #2 after secrets Akumal. her channel is dedicated to all inclusive resorts. You might want to check it out

@@ethan7062 The resort itself and the staff are amazing. The VERY obnoxious new system of forcing you to see a sales presentation before they take you to your room was the thing that ruined our time there. If I were you I might choose a NON Hyatt property. Apparently, this is a new thing and WOW the high-pressured sales pitch, the phone calls at 7am to remind us of our "meeting" and not being able to go to our room, see the ocean and eat and have a cocktail until we agreed to it after a 9 hour flight time is allowed by the Hyatt deal with this travel vacation club.

Great video! I do have a question. Is the Preferred club worth the extra cost? My wife and I are not drinker's so I'm on the fence if it's worth the extra cost. Please let me know your thoughts
Are there any types of water sports such as small sailboat or jet skis available? What about masks or fins for snorkeling?
I've read that you can get in trouble for bringing a drone into Mexico. I'd love to take one on my upcoming trip, but I don't see how I can do it. Did you just pack it, or...?
Excellent hotel, do they charge you a deposit when you check in?
No Deposit is required; however, they will need a credit card to have on file for the resort.

Both are very awesome. The beach at Maroma is much nicer, plus the distance from the airport to the resort is about 15 minutes. Playa Mujeres, with traffic, could take an hour or so. Excellence Playa Mujeres is a notch about the Secrets properties and is worth a look too.
In debut over secrets maroma and secrets Akumal… do you prefer one over another?
Have you been to the Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya resort? It’s very comparable to this one. Wondering which is better.
Yes, we have stayed at the Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya, I like the rooms better at Secrets, plus the beach is a step up from the Valentin. That said, we do want to go back to give the Valentin another visit as we really enjoyed it.
What month did go? I'm hearing that the beach has a LOT of seaweed on them from June-August now over the last few years
Seaweed is always worse in the hotter months like June - August. We have been a few times this Fall and the sea weed has not been bad at all.
How many restaurants are open each night? Is there a set schedule for each one ? Or is it random each week? Also, is there music that plays there when at the pool and such? Any nightlife?
They do rotate a few restaurants, but would only have perhaps one closed on a given night.
What are the differences between having the preferred club and not having it? My girlfriend and i booked a room without the preferred club and are wondering if we still have unlimited access to all the main restaurants and bars.
Really not too much. They do have a preferred club pool, preferred club area at the beach, and reserved seating at shows; but overall not necessary to have a great time.
How tight are the dining venue evening dress codes? Could a man get by with dark jeans with no rips? Or khakis? Casual elegant is a new term for me.
Yeah you would be fine! Pants and a button up! It's not super strict
Being adult only is it a party resort until late nights/early mornings?
Not at all, probably more crazy and party like during the days. Evenings are chill and quiet.

Akumal is really nice but I would recommend Moroma!
