As an American (who, incidently, currently lives about 3 hours from CotA) I think the V8SCs will get a good crowd here. There's a pretty hard-core bunch that loves this series, and the CotA round is already being promoted pretty decently.
Eastern Creek, aka Sydney Motorsport Park were offered to host a V8 Supercar round in 2013 and the ARDC turned it down. The decision not to race at the creek was made by the track owners and not V8SC
Well, even if the Texas race next year falls flat on its face (which it won't), you know it'll have better attendance than this. What's the paying attendance for all three races, like 31 people combined?
So it's V8SC's fault that the owner sold the circuit to a property developer? And what is the alternative to this weekends 3 races? Doing chores around the house?
Hey, you're talking about Abu Dhabi now. Check out the Arab drifting to get an idea of the landscape. You've got wide strips of tarmac in the middle of great big dust bowls. You don't even get a half dead cactus there! And, you're right, the whole thing is a great big money-spinner backed by some blinged-out sheik with outrageously more money than brains. We buy their oil, they buy our V8 Supercar races and to hell with the spectators. Money, money, money!
The v8's are dead these days Anyway, When you got people like Matt White & Channel 7 Everywhere it just kills it for me. Adds every 5 Laps Like i said matt white talking about stuff he doesn't have a clue about. And it's all about Channel , 7 this and 7 that. Take it back to Channel 10 and maybe i could watch a full race.
Because they are a "support series" to F1 this year, whereas in years past they were a stand-alone event. And as a support series they only get so much time on track before the F1 circus takes over. It was a terrible decision by V8SC to get into bed with F1 and have it be a points-paying "event."
i hope the v8 organisers take a good long look at this round and see just how disapointed the aussie race fans are about this round ,it neds to be droped ,who wins not us assies cause we all cant get there to suport it
Jamie seems bored by the V8's now... there's several teams in the DTM that are looking for a driver for 2013. Let's seem himign up and see what he has to offer when he steps up in Europe id hhe dares. I smell dead meat.
an absoulte joke. The qualifying system is crap, because if u screw up the last 2 laps ur weekend is over. 12 LAPS please!!!! c'mon only half an hour of racing, and no under lights racing, Scrap this event!!!! If this is gonna happen at texas next year, the international v8 supercar presence is dead!!!
It is, not like those Herman Tilke designed racetracks like this Abu dhabi piece of crap... Oran Park and eastern creek were tracks for real drivers, with elevations changes, bumps, on-camber and off camber corners, grass or dirt in the runoffs... Is such a shame that Motorsports is even more run by money than the show or Fans
wow look at the croud! oh wait, it's just a speck of dust on my screen. scrap this stupid round and bring the V8s to a venue that actually deserves and respects our sport!
yer i recon! It's just a publicity stunt done by the idiotic Cochrane! I'm glad we are rid of him after this year! he has just ruined the sport for the fans over the recent years
Would love to see the Supercars back at Abu Dhabi. What a venue.

Would love to see them in UK
Yep, upgraded but V8's wont race there, check 2013 V8's calendar. It will hold pre season tests, but not any race.
how come last year they raced 43 laps, and this year only 12?
Swap this place for Silverstone in the UK!
the decision to host the V8's with F1 was made by the Yas Marina circuit owners
we have this track but no oran park?wth V8 !!

Brands hatch, or Silverstone would be Epic for V8 supercars, good call

Eastern Creek (or Sydney Motorsport Park) anyone?
Am I the only one that found these rounds exciting, it was a better finnish to the Bathurst 1000 we had couple weeks back.

Why not use the support to the F1 round in Melbourne as a round instead of this round you would get more of a crowd at least
good race
i was thinking the exact same thing haha
Feel so sorry for Premat there
Race 794 and 795
take it to knockhill scotland

And now they want to get rid of eastern creek aswell

Ah cheers. I would assume if you got a F1 ticket you'd also be able to see the V8 supercars to? Regardless, shame about the tiny crowed.
Us Brits would like a round...if that's ok with you
lets see how an ex DTM driver goes in these cars, or thats right we already got one! and hes coming last almost every single round ;-)

What a joke, keep the V8's in Australia and NZ where the fans actually care about it!

Judging by all this, things seem destined to only get worse for Ford, how annoying.
