- How to reset the "Service Clock" back to its default setting after a Vehicle Service.
UK Model Vehicle: Tips for the home mechanic
Mercedes Benz Sprinter - 311 CDI 2004 Model 2.2 Turbo Diesel
Figures in UK Miles - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
After looking at four or five other "professional videos” yours was the only one that worked .... Thank you
I just tried my 2001 311 and it worked a treat, what a diamond geezer you are sir!
Spot on!! Bought our van with -99999 on service clock (so called mechanic had serviced but "wasn't able" to reset), now reset to 20000 :)
Nice one :-)
Very helpful, I reset the service on my 313cdi. Thanks for sharing. I did have a service and the non merc garage didn't know how to reset the clock lol.
GOOD VIDEO - WELL EXPLAINED - THANKS A LOT MATE FOR UR VID !!!!!
Very useful and easy to understand.
10/10

Thanks for good info
Thank you as per your instructions bang on
this is a gold mine you are a star. nice one m8.
Worked, thanks!!!
Took me a couple of attempts but it did work. Thanks for your video.
Nice one. Thank you.
Thank you :-)
Thank you, much appreciated!😊
Thank you. :-)
works great!! thanks
Something I've always liked about British market cars is that the measurements are shown in MPH and km/h.
my 313 cdi 471000 kilometers no engine problems ever! i got sprintshift and changed the clutch 1 time at 465000 i love this car!
Yes they sure are brilliant vehicles, and made to go the distance. I love mine too :-)
На таком езжу 2 года, машина бомба, лучше не придумали еще 👍👍👍
Зохраб Мамедов 👍
Зохраб Мамедов можете объяснить что он показывал Я что-то не понял Заранее спасибо
Muy util!!! funciona perfecto!
well done, the video really helps.
Thank you
293 thousand miles!
Wow, that's good going.
hey Paul! ; this will be of great helpfull for some Sprinter owner :-) thank you but i do not have the service clock on mine :-)))
have a nice week end!
I agree, you are. But that's what I've always liked about England, and the U.K. We use litres to measure how much is in a bottle. We also use pints.
Hi Paul nice to do this kind of video P
Top lad and cheers
@scarletshaz there is a t27 torx bit on the side of the steering lock module,if u put the key fob into the ignition barel u will hear the module click when its doing this gently hit with a small hammer until it releases then turn the torx bolt counter clockwise, this will release the lock module, allowing you to drive with no steering lock
muchas gracias me funciono el video 👍👍👍
Much Good Karma too you for your service too others Paul! You are vast and generous in your knowledge of Sprinters and Benz in general! Know anything about 02' XC70's? : )
@7784Patrick Thanks Patrick, just one of those little things that lots of Sprinter owners don't know how to do.
Until now that is...!!
Paul :-)
OOOh there's exciting Paul, didn't understand a bloody thing, but very exciting....:o) Bob
Good tutorial - it's a similar process for the Vito and Viano
Some serious mileage - mostly motorway I assume? My mate is running 210k on a 2007 Caddy!
big milege!!! i remember looking at one of our country trunkers when it was in our yard for service and it was only 2008 and had 500.000km on the clock!!!!!
Thank you paul
Spot on mate thank you
Thank you :-)
Спасибо полезное видео)))
Do you have a video demonstrating the oil change procedure on the Sprintshift transmission on these models. I have to service a mates vehicle shortly. I am sure it is very straight forward like most gearboxes.
Much easier explanation than in the book mate.
Great video as ever.
The miles on yours is similar to mine.
How many was on her when you swapped?
Any major problems?
Around 300 thousand, the rear axle dif bearings had to be replaced, and the cylinder head gasket had to be replaced, otherwise all was good.
We use liters for lots of things. A litre of milk, a 5.7 litre V8 engine, for alot of things. I usually spell liter differently than most people. Instead of "liter" I spell it "litre". I can't remember what started me doing that.
what i mean is i can see the littlest tools over the number but the number show up negative. a week a go was -600 and today is -700, my question is if you know if this is a count down to service or is already past the time to do it ?
@donohoeirl Thanks, yes most of my mileage is all motorway. Its very rare I have to do local stop / start driving or "Multi Drop" as we say. I hate that kind of work. Give me long distance any day. Most of my miles were done covering Scottish runs on a daily basis.
210,000km is about 130,000 miles so not too bad on a three year motor. I was doing about 129,000km per year at one stage.
You need a Citroen Dispatch. The garage resets the service indicator when they service it. Only had the first service mind. Might get rid of it before it loses too much value and buy a different van this year though, it's showing nearly 12.000 miles now and the doors dont close as smoothly as they did when it was new...
@birdman404 Wow!! That's over 310,000 miles in two years. That's going some!!!
Even in my Peak I've only ever covered around 80,000 miles in a year ( Thats about 129,000km ) and that was because I was doing Scottish runs every day.
@Bevoin1970 Thanks for explaining that one Paul, I'm now up to speed for my next enthralling journey...buttons, flashing lights, computers...what's this world of ours coming to...:o)....Bob
Спасибо 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
@JONTEJOY I know exactly what you mean, the Sprinter isn't so bad, quite easy in fact, but it is a real nuisance having to go around changing all the clocks.
This service clock is quite easy once you know how. The manuel doesn't tell you.
Information only for mechanics... ha ha
Thanks Jonas :-)
Thankios.
Perefect perfect 100% first time
Thanxx
Dont forget that most motorists that have only been driving for about 10 years dont even know what a gallon is. I'll tell you what it was. 35p to fill up the tank on my FS1E.
@scarletshaz All that sounds just plain crazy, like you say Progress!!
Wasn't so long ago when all you needed was a supply of diesel, and a decent battery to start the motor up. Ah the good old days... ha ha
@robmasterman Ha Ha.. I suspect you wouldn't seeing as you don't have a Sprinter Mr Bob.
It's one of those little things, usually only Mercedes mechanics would know.
The counter counts down from 20,000 miles in my case, to zero. This is when you should have a service. It will go to minus figures but when it does it makes a beep noise each time the engine is started up, can be annoying.
Im often asked if I know how to reset. I thought the video would answer that Q
Thanks Bob, today ur wiser :-)
Cool
@Bevoin1970 I prefer the nationwide drops myself, the multi-drop in the cities can be a nightmare - especially in something as big as a Sprinter. I feel sorry for the lads in LGV's doing multi-drops - that'd take a few years off your life with stress!
I would like to ask a question. I have not ever return to the clock, and now writes about it - 150000. The issue is that? Continuous indicator lights alone without pressing the button twice. I can not check out the display, so I can not follow the process exactly as shown. Did you know in this case what should I do? Thank you for your time. (Sorry for my English)
@togreektown Ha Ha... I didn't, you should see the outtakes!! LOL
Thanks Wayne :-)
Класс 👍 спасибо большое
hello, I wonder if this trick works in a mercedes sprinter 315CDI? Thank you.
@kkhan42 Me too, I only ever used genuine parts for brakes. I have never tested other makes so I can't answer that Q
I do belive you get what you pay for though, and sometimes cheap is not always best in that you could end up buying two lots of cheap pads as opposed to one set of good pads or genuine parts.
If you intend keeping your van for a long time yet go for the genuine parts, i reckon it would be better for you in the long run. If you intend selling in the near future, then go cheap. :-)
Not sure, I know it doesn't work on my van, there is a sequence to setting the clock on newer Sprinters, but Im told it depends what dash is fitted? strange I know, but it must be something to do with what clocks are fitted in reality. I know it doesn't work on my van, because I've tried it. :-)
Спасибо мне помогло
Здраствите помогите мне я не понел как он сделал
@matt4270 Im not that clever.. ha ha. All I know is what I have picked up over the years as a Mercedes Sprinter owner / driver.
Sorry I don't have a clue about XC70's... Wish I could help you out!!
Thanks :-)
Отлично
Thats because we are reluctant to go completely Metric over here...ha ha
We still mix Imperial and Metric where it suits us, for instance we still drink "Pints" of beer as opposed to Litres, well asking for a litre of beer just doesn't sound right. I know, we are an odd bunch in England... lol
Yes
@scarletshaz That sounds like management material there... ha ha
@bobski1976 LOL glad to help :-)
Спасибо
I think it's great! Why should we go completely metric just because the rest of the world does? We also use metrics where we see fit. Like my mum's Subaru Outback has a 3 litre boxer engine, or my Toyota Corolla has a 1.6 litre inline 4 engine.
@robmasterman Ha Ha... I know what you mean Bob, however Im glad to say there is still plenty of room left for those big mechanical beasts we call Trains.
Oh! and all the other machinery and big stuff that interests us blokes... ha ha.
@modemeyes Thanks :-)
is the mercedes sprinter your own?
donde consigo un velocimetro de estos
@donohoeirl Ha ha.. not half. Just the thought of it would fill me with dread!!
@johnwood57 Yep!! Easy Peasy... and say say all of us.
Thanks John, very useful info should you ever buy yourself a Sprinter... ha ha
When i look at my numbers it show up as a negative, why is that? What should i do to fix it?
+Carla Diez it just means you have gone past the mileage for your service, it's no big deal, service it and reset as described above.
No sorry I don't, Sprintshift boxes are not so common unlike the manual box. Im guessing it would be like any gearbox, where somewhere low down will be a bolt that needs removing to drain off old oil. Sorry I cant be more help. Good luck :-)
Hi my brother, I have a problem with the meter. The meter is broken and does not work. Where is the problem? What is the solution? Thank you very much
I think you need to seek an auto electrician
@@Bevoin1970 thank you m'y frund
@DIANEK1960 I bet you wondered how on earth you ever got by without knowing such details? LOL :-)
and that's all there is to it LOL......John
@kkhan42 Bulb must have gone..!! :-)
@truckernacion Thanks Alberto, not much use to you my friend Im afraid... ha ha.
I can't remember where I first saw British spelling, or when. I know that it was long before I first visited England.
Some americans spell it this way, due to a protest by a Noah Webster in the 1700s, if you can believe that. You probably saw it spelled that way once and it stuck. Most of us have our own spelling peculiarities.
You may need to get a Mercedes mechanic with a laptop to reset the clock for you in this case. You may have stored faults now. Sorry I cant offer more advice, Im not a mechanic, just an owner driver.
amigo una p regunta tengo una sprinter 313 y tengo un problema que pasa de 2000.rpm tengo un error P2007 tu puedes aydarme con este problema
I'm sorry I have no idea on that. Sorry.
How often did you change the oil on the old Sprinter, and did you use Merc oil?
+philzambo I used to change my oil every ten thousand miles, and no I didn't use Merc oil, just semi synthetic 10-40 stuff if I remember correctly.
Bevoin1970 Thanks for the reply Paul. I did mine today at 10K, How's the new van working out, how many miles have you put on it?
+philzambo all good thanks, she currently sits at 394k
como cambiar la hora?
Simplemente presione el botón Menú hasta que las horas y los minutos parpadeen y luego cambie el que desee usando los botones + y -
So... how about an 03?
I have no clue how to highlight the service clock...
Ok, I think I got it.
hum. thanks anyway :)

Opt out of the European Union?
If it can be pulled off, fine. But why would anyone want to be part of the EU in the first place. It seems to me that all it brought was financial trouble. That sounds like a good reason to opt out of the EU.
@liam6202 I wish I was Liam :)
