    “I feel like the wavy hair people are the most misguided”
    As a wavy haired girl, this statement is very true 😂. Never curly enough, never straight enough, always mixing and matching products and wasting money cause they either make hair too frizzy or too heavy 🎉

    i honestly hate the fact that on youtube, there isn't much representation on wavy hair girls. like 2b hair. my hair isn't curly but it's just so hard to find a hair routine for my hair and it's just hard finding someone to relate to. it's like either you have stick straight hair, or you have 3c hair, and that doesn't even help me. but thanks Marie for representing us!!

      Yes!! My hair is pretty wavy and gets huge when I brush it (and straightening it lasts 10 min) but don't have ringlets and it's hard to create definition; it usually just looks messy. Curly girl method has helped my hair and a lot of ways because I use the infrequent washing and deep conditioning practices I learned from that and my hair is way more healthy, but it doesn't help as much when it comes to styling

    So glad to see more type 2 videos for wavy hair. I've been seeing more of these types of videos on youtube finally. For the longest time it was so hard to find anyone with wavy hair on TH-cam mentioning their natural air dry routines. If you looked up wavy hair, it would be a video on how to get waves through heat styling by using curling irons and such. I think we sometimes look to type 3 hair, because that is what is shown a lot on youtube and we would love to have that or at least hair that is more defined. And yes, it's totally true that hair products that work on other hair types don't always work well on wavy hair. We also don't have straight hair, so we need special help too! Hopefully we'll see more products catering to our hair type in the future, because I know we are not the only ones out there with our frizzy sometimes unmanageable hair!

      PERIOD!!! I’m so happy you found me love!! And I can’t wait to keep learning more about the wavy hair experience so I can share all I know with y’all ❤️❤️❤️ (also, yes, I’ve seen one product here and there catered to wavies, but I hope it becomes more of a norm)

    THIS WAS SO HELPFUL!!! I especially loved tip number 4. I get so frustrated with my hair sometimes because it’s medium-high porosity and super fine so I haven’t figured out how to define the waves without weighing them down. It was refreshing to hear that having looser waves can still be beautiful (and you rocked all those hair textures you showed)

    no one ever taught me how to care for my hair. I am 40 now and even though I am a trained hairstylist I am still searching for a good routine for my hair. I always thought I couldn't wear my hair air dried cuz it just looked so bad and frizzy. People telling me I needed to brush my hair but it only making me look like a puffed up poodle. Thanks for the advice. I would say my hair is 2b to 2c, some strands might even be 3a. I for sure have to make the porosity test. recently started using hair oil too but felt it's too much in dry hair, so I will try using it in my leave in mask. Thanks a lot girl

    I'm curious what kind of haircut you ask for when you go to the salon? Because layers did me so dirty growing up before I ever had a clue what to do with my hair but now that I'm learning more about my hair type (which is incredibly similar to yours) and how to style it I'm curious if maybe layers might be the way to go for me. But it seems so abstract! Short layers, face framing layers, long layers, etc.
    Also your channel is a gift and thank you so much for it.

    • @NemesisMarie
      @NemesisMarie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi luv! I always go to a curl specialist and ask for a cut to help me with volume, so she usually does framing pieces in the front (kinda like curtain bangs), short layers in the front, and longer layers in the back. It gives me a rounded look when you look at my hair from behind. As long as you go to a curl professional, and you explain to them what your goals are, they’ll layer your hair accordingly.

    UGH I FUCKING LOVE YOU SM, growing up my hair was super curly, and my mom has like type 3 hair so i always had the idea that bc she was my mom that i'd have her hair type, as i grew older the little ringlets lost its definition and i was left with a poofy frizzy mess, i was still convinced it was curly but just not healthy and didn't really know how to care for it, up until recently i realized that my hair is not curly at all, it's wavy and it rlly hurt me bc it's the last thing i have going for me that ties me to my cultural identity as a white passing latina so it was rlly hard accepting it sdjkfhjskdf. i was lost on what to do with it because it wasn't straight but it wasn't curly either, only very occasionally on days it dries right was it semi curly but other days i just got poofy beach waves at most like how you said. this helped me understand my hair better and ugh just thank you so so much, i now at least have an idea on what to do with my hair and can now work on accepting it and loving it after years of hating it, ily

      Hi there! Really? You mind sharing more info on this?

    • @victoriasolorzano9928
      @victoriasolorzano9928 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes babe! I’ve heard Manes by Mell bust that myth. I guess the strand test just isn’t accurate enough to test your hair’s porosity. It’s best to test your porosity by seeing how your hair dries without product or seeing how your hair soaks up water. If your hair dries quickly without product then you have high porosity vs. if your hair dries slowly without product then it’s low porosity. If your hair quickly gets saturated by water in the shower then you have high porosity and vice versa. I’ll have to link her video and a website from Naturally Curly that helped me figure out my porosity!

    • @NemesisMarie
      @NemesisMarie  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hey love!! Girl, same here, the longer my hair gets, the harder it is to control the frizz. What has been helping me is doing a little water + leave-in conditioner mix in a spray bottle and using that to refresh my waves at least on 2nd and 3rd day. Keeping it properly moisturized has been helping. BUT I still get some frizz and honestly, it’s natural. Wavy/curly hair can’t help but to get frizz throughout the day, you can only tone it down with the right amount of moisture and also the less you touch your hair during the day, thw better

    I’m having such hard time to find a routine for my hair. My bangs are curly like yours but the rest of the hair is wavy. Probably due to colouring it. It’s not unhealthy. My hairdresser said it’s only dry and not damaged. But I don’t know how to moisturize it or if it would be enough to get my curls back :( The gel method makes the back of my hair stringy so I’m still searching.

    Heyyyy. I’m having a lot of trouble with my wavy hair. So basically all my life I’ve treated my hair like it was straight cause I thought It was, but as I’m getting older I’m realizing that I actually have wavy hair, but I’m scared that I’ve damaged it too much to be repaired. So basically when I was younger I had like a wavy shag with some ringlets here and there but that was before I could take care of myself and my mom treated my hair like it was straight and this year I’ve noticed that the underneath part of my hair is extremely wavy and even has some ringlets to it, but the top layer of my hair is stick straight. And so I tried some wavy hair stuff once but it just made my hair look really poofy cause the bottom was really wavy and the top was straight so it looked weird. And I just need some advice lol. My hair type is from Type 1 to Type 2 3C. And I have between median and low density. Please help 🥺☺️😖👍

      I think number one thing to keep in mind is that your hair does not get damaged until it's grown out of your head; diet and environment can affect it obviously if you're not taking care of yourself but the damage done on your hair by styling and stuff will be grown out and cut off. As it grows out, it's going to look a little strange with the transition from more limp damaged hair at the bottom to healthier, more voluminous hair at the top, but just treat it like the awkward stage when you're trying to grow out bangs. So, don't blow dry, deep condition it a lot, get haircuts every 3 months, and, if it doesn't look good on some days, just put it up instead of heat styling ❤️

    I have quite thin hair and have been told I shouldn't really have layers because my hair is too thin for this and it will just end up looking wispy.. can any one advise what the best haircut would be for this hair type please? 2a-2c hair type.. I think! Still pretty new to all this so still learning. TIA x

    I’m so confused with my hair. My baby hairs are naturally curly and get very curly every time they get wet but the rest of my hair isn’t even wavy it’s almost completely straight. I had bangs about 2 years ago and they would kinda get wavy but that’s it. I had natural curls when I was born up until I was about 5 or 6 years old and then my curls slowly started to go away. I want to bring my curls back but I don’t know how. The most I’ve gotten is weird looking ugly beach waves. Has anyone else had this problem? Some one please help me 😭😭I’m desperate! Loll

    have you ever had long hair, I have long and voluminous hair, I want to cut it like you but I am scaresd that my hair will me so voluminous when it short. So i don't know if it makes a big difference if I have short hair. ( Idk if it makes sense and sorry for grammar mistakes i am french)

    • @NemesisMarie
      @NemesisMarie  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi love!! I did have long hair for quite some time, and the hardest part was how frizzy it would get (because I wouldn’t moisturize it properly) but it wasn’t very voluminous cuz my hair is relatively thin🥺 so idk how it must be for you. But I don’t think you need to cut it short like mine if you already have all that beautiful volume. Layers will probably help with your definition and keeping your hair healthy, so you can just get long layers and be good with that❤️❤️

    • @jenniferohanyan1328
      @jenniferohanyan1328 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have had really long hair most of my life and when I was little it was super thick and voluminous and but was unintentionally cut really short like a boy when I was 6yrs old and it was awful! My head looked like a frizzy bush and took forever to grow back. Unfortunately, I no longer have that super thick voluminous hair (unrelated to the haircut) so I couldn't tell you what it would be like to have short hair with proper wavy girl care.

    Why is tile 2b hair considered wavy?! To me this is curly hair. I’m just saying bc soo many “curly girls” gatekeep curly hair. I have this type of hair with some curly q’s and before social media and “curly girl methods” this was just called curly hair growing up… wavy hair to me, is less curly than this. But anyways. You have beautiful hair either way I just don’t. Want you to discount your hair as if it’s not curly. :)
