Athrun seems to purposely add a security functions to haro for lacus. Haro was able to sense the intruders from a distance. Like in Seed that lacus was able to get out of the room at archangel because of haro. Tori also seems to notice danger/things around them. Its like even though athrun is not around/with them, he is still there for kira and lacus through haro and tori.
Those are probably features added later. Don't forget Athrun made the Haro's and Birdy BEFORE he became a soldier. Plus when Lacus was locked in her room on the Vesalius, she got out and blamed Haro, which Athrun said was ridiculous.

He gets the most screen time, the most development, the most plot relevance. Shinn is just some kid he meets on the way who happens to be in the most main character-looking Gundam.
Even if it wasn't Durandal, whoever sent these assassins completely changed the game forever. Imagine, if they had not gone after Lacus, she and Kira'd have been content to stay hidden in peace, far away from the trauma that broke both of them and made them rather cynical and untrusting of the world, especially Kira (yes, Lacus is somewhat traumatized too. Why else would she be so hesitant to give him access to his Gundams this year? She clearly feels she's sending him back into the world that broke him and his spirit, and she doesn't want that). But this told them that they'd be NEVER left alone. So the only course of action was just to go on the offensive. If it WAS Durandal, then this was EASILY his most fatal mistake.
Well in hindsight, there are 2 Lacuses at this point in this ep. So i think its was Durandal's order's to kill the OG while his Lacus takes her place. Kinda like the plot of the Timothy Olyphant Hitman Movie, minus the body double abusing his position after the person he's impersonating got killed early in the movie
Durandal should've just left OG Lacus, Athrun will be mediator for upholding the fake Lacus as necessary evil. Too bad for Durandal, he miscalculated the power of plot armor haha 😂
I love the bit with special agent Murrue Ramius. Was kinda cheesy seeing her just dodge her bullets like a spy in an oldschool film but man was it fun to watch. Seeing the Freedom again just made me smile. Still is and probably will continue to be one of my, if not my favorite Gundam

One of the worst wrong move in GUNDAM history. Durandal should left princess alone. In this EP. he waking a dragon up by accidently step on it tail and the dragon burn his whole plan down to the ground.
@@HeIsAnAli heres the mistake on that tho, it was known high up at the time of durandels decision that the real Lacus was close to the Freedoms pilot in orb, he knew shed be in their company, and possibly with it, the Freedom itself. second of all, his mistake of calling for a attack made it where it revealed deeper more sinister intentions, and if the case happened where she survived the attack, when he reveals the real plan, they could expose him for it. if he had simply left them alone, nothing wouldve gone wrong, since it was clear the Real lacus had given up being a idol and didnt care, (we even learn later on she doesnt care about the name or status anymore saying the fake lacus can have it) she would see the fake one sure but likely surmise, that its for what she did in the last war, use her influance to help calm the people. and Lacus knew of her as she was revealed prior to the assination attempt but clearly didnt care. it wasnt until after the Assination attempt on her life, them getting involved in the conflict again and the Fake Lacus interuppting Cagalli's Broadcast that the Real Lacus chose to reveal herself and speak out about the Fake. so its clear now, the assination attempt on the Real Lacus Clyne was the biggest mistake Durandel couldve made. and it cost him everything, as the Freedom pilot then got involved.

I remember myself waiting for an episode with longer screen time for most of Gundam SEED characters. This was the one. And now, HD has been uploaded, I directly watched this episode. Love seeing Murrue in action.

Murre Ramius dodging the bullet scenes was quite funny, despite being the Natural and those Coordinator that should be efficient at shooting, she pretty much owned them plus Andrews prosthetic arm gun looked amazing Kira and his Freedom Gundam has awakened(biggest mistake in this series for various reasons) disabling suits in Seed mode unfortunately those Coordinator pilots commiting suicide

Plus, what Shinn did there wouldn't be considered commendable by anyone sane, he killed way more enemies than he had to, dude just went on a rampage. You can bet if that was a real war his shipmates' reactions when he came back would be very different. If it wasn't, they're most definitely not the "good guys". Lastly, Gundam has always been a show that focuses on the terrors of war, so it's pretty counterintuitive to play this scene straight with little to no moral dilemma. (Sure, Shinn's moral dilemmas eventually come, but that's later in the series, long after this scene has been forgotten).

I think just bringing the Freedom was fine, super hype even. It's just what happened afterwards that wasn't executed so well.
