    I know I'm late to this party, but I just want to say that you have the most frontal climbing style I've seen among people climbing at this level. I'm trying to understand the biomechanics of it, and all I can come up with is that you have pretty exceptional contact strength... at any rate, it's beautiful to watch, like a cat moving in slow motion.

    I wonder if Jonathan would benefit from going to Europe/catalonia/ceuse and doing some of the well repeated test pieces of the world to give some credence to his grading.

      I realized maybe you were joking! But since you’re serious - I’ve climbed Biographie, La Rambla, Papichulo, Pachamamma, La Planta De Shiva and a half dozen more 5.15 in EU. And I did the third ascent of Jumbo Love. That being said, grades are easy to mess up. I over shoot, and undershoot all the time.

    • @mrjonathansiegrist
      @mrjonathansiegrist 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If you’d like to see my complete tick list, go to 8a.nu - all of my ascents 13d and harder, ever, are listed there under ‘all time’ , hope that helps! And man, I’d love to climb 9b+ but I’m definitely not quite there yet... thanks 🙏🏽

    Is that uh.... where does the route end?
    Because you kinda put the end title up, then he kept climbing towards another bolt, and then he keeps climbing, and I have no idea where the route actually finishes up... Even if it tops out on some ridiculously simple stuff it would be nice to see.

    Gorgeous cave and stellar climbing. But I’m not a huge fan of the relentless single telephoto shot for so much of the route. It’s hard to get a sense of the true angle of the climb and it hides many of the undercling holds. I’m guessing this is a result of the nature of the site and how many camera people were available to bring for such a remote location. Probably was hard to get a variety of angles on Jonathan. That said ... you had the drone ... and it would have helped to have forced Jonathan to do some later runs after the send in the same clothes to get some drone fill-in angles. Much easier said than done! Really would have loved to see the upper part of the route. I was getting more invested after he finished the long arching traverse and started straight up to the finish. Felt a little anti-climatic. Also not a huge fan of the music. It’s beautiful but I felt more like I was in a spa than at a crag. It’s a nice change from the old hyped-up acid electro-reggae tracks Josh Lowell was famous for ... but either could have used something to underscore the intensity of the climbing ... or just drop the music altogether at the crux sections and go with natural sounds to emphasize the suspense. This is all said guessing that this location made filming a very tough endeavor. It’s really the beauty of the cave that made me want to see so much more of the rock, the holds and the climbing. All in all a fun watch.
