    A video about casting magic would be really nice! It's a more complex system and I think we'd all benefit from having someone who can help us break it down. Hope you make something like this one day.

    I enjoy your Beyond D&D video and look forward to seeing the rest of the Chronicles gamelines represented in your future videos!

    Something I'd always recomend is DaveB's transcribed Actual Play's on rpg.net
    You can just google : Mage Broken Diamond & Mage the soul cage.
    Read them several times, Highly recomended.

    You're coming with this videos really fast. Also if you want to delve deeper into mage lore i recommend orders books from 1e and sings of sorcery sourcebooks if you can grab it. Keep the great work!
    Nitpicking of the day: the witche's path it's called Acanthus ;)
    But really this is really useful for new players

      @@AwkwardGMCorbin Which of the CofD lines are you most familiar with?

      @@AwkwardGMCorbin You said in your video that you don't know much about CtL 1e, I recommend you to give it a look, it's the only game in the CofD that I prefer the 1e, for I find it much better written, and I like the concept of the seemings much much much more in the 1e (I'm referring to the stories, descriptions, etc. The 2e system is much better of course).

      @@AwkwardGMCorbin Werewolf huh.. I didn't see that coming. It's a nice game, I played the 1e, it was not bad but I was never too much inclined to the idea of playing a barbarian/berserker so it's not in my top list. I might give the 2e a chance tho, I'd like to see how it'll go. What's the moon and tribe of your character?

    Acanthus, not Arcanthus. Sorry. Anyway love this video. great to give to my players to watch before introducing them to a mage game.

    Would have liked to hear more about the mechanical side of the game but the lore you presented was pretty good.

    Holy shit, you used the alternative sigils I made rather than the official ones. Not that I mind. In fact, I find it kinda flattering. So what's your username on the OPP forums if it's different than yours on here?

      Lol, I hadn't realized. It looked so official. :D You can find me as DontEatRawHagis on the Forums, but I haven't been on for a while.

    This is a scenario that I've always being interested in playing/narrating, but that I don't have the slithest clue on how to do so (well, not before I listen to the recommended podcast anyway), the fact that "mage vision" can analize the structure of pretty much anything and unmake it seen to just break any idea I could have for a campaing. A single game where there is this weird anomaly hidden from scrying? sure. A campaign? how when you can just unmake anything that gets in the way? (and I have players that don't usually thing in long term consequences, but get dissatisfied if they end up screwing themselves over because of a bad decision, like trying to destroy the Circle of the Crone on the third Scene of the first game of the campaing, starting a turf war that broke the masquerade and ended the game for everyone)

    • @patrickmulder2450
      @patrickmulder2450 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I wouldn't be to afraid of it if I where you. There is no "just unmake anything" in this game. Sure, you are a badass wizard, or at least you think you are. Pride comes before the fall. You got this knack to stick your nose where it doesn't belong, but how often does that turn out to be a mistake? These are strong themes in the games and the system support them really nicely in my opinion.
      Honestly, the fact that players don't usually think in the long term, get dissatisfied when they screw themselves over, and next find interesting ways to make it even worse! That's a game of Mage the Awakening in a nutshell. That's the whole point. Your goal as an ST is to tempt them into this self destructive spiral by creating mysteries that your Mages can get obsessed with. Next watch the whole thing slide into the abyss... With a little luck they figure out the systems and stop themselves from loosing everything.

    Cool. Interesting system but I can see the sense of it. If magic actually existed, chances are a list of spells however diverse is going to be insufficient to represent what magic is all about. At least how I imagine it should be like.

    • @AwkwardGMCorbin
      @AwkwardGMCorbin  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is a game I will cover later called Through the Breach which has similar system, but has less environmental factors that effect spell casting.
      When I played it I literally spent part of character creation writing down different combinations of spell components to create things like a Tazer, an Electric Barrier, and a fireball that burned with the might of a thousand suns (Seriously they had to errata it in the 2nd edition).
      I think if magic were something in real life it would be like Jazz. Sure you can play from sheet music (i.e. a grimoire) but the real fun is when you can just have a jam session and express your creativity.
