You are one of my very favorite board game channels currently (and trust me, I follow them all!) - lots of unique and high-quality content, charming but not overbearing humor, a compulsively listenable speaking tone and cadence, and of course incredibly insightful commentary on the industry. Keep up the great work!
Here's a reason to back: Kickstarter discount. I've learned my lesson for not backing a game during Kickstarter and had to pay an absurd amount of money at retail and/or secondary market scalpers. Just looking at the posted MSRP of $129 versus $69 right now, if you really want this game then you should definitely back it, because you'll still walk away with a saving after adding $30 shipping to it.
Yeah definitely something to consider, but I think sometimes these MSRPs can feel a little overestimated. Or especially because they're saying the zero alternate sculpt is 12, and I'm sure they're valuing the extra plastics are something similar, so that 129 is for stuff that doesn't particularly draw me in. My current bet, and I might be wrong but this is what I'll most likely gamble on, is that it'll be available in retail for closer to that 69 price point than that 129, or even that 100. But I guess we'll see. I think definitely if those extras feel great, then it would feel like a better buy - I can see how people would feel they get their value, they just are still a bit underwhelming for me. But there still are a few days left, I'm open to being surprised haha
Really like this format! I think it adds a lot to the hype-based KS coverage. Regarding 6: Siege, I'm really undecided. Love the IP, gameplay looks excellent. Price and campaign with mediocre daily unlocks instead of stretch goals are less convincing. Don't know yet if I'll back or not.
Much appreciated, I shall definitely keep them coming. And yeah, I expect I'll revisit this near the end and see if the unlocks have managed to change my mind. Definitely one I'll be looking for at retail regardless though, just seems really fun.
I'm a backer for the "fresh recruit" pledge and I'm spending an extra $25 to get my favorite year of siege, it's my first time backing a board game on Kickstarter. I've been wanting to get into the genre of tabletop gaming but find it very hard to get someone to come back and join (such as campaign-driven games like DnD) especially kids and teens, it's made more difficult when your first starting out and not know how to play properly. After watching some gameplay, it seems this is an easy-to-learn game and the people I know would be interested because they are also a fan of the game but lost interest. Getting the complete set is tempting but I don't think I will be able to fully utilize it as most people would rather be occupied by the internet. However, as you said, it's a cool game to have on the shelf and have some fun with when people are visiting. Also, I'm not sure if this was mentioned in the video but you get some cool custom skins and minifigures that can be redeemed in-game and I believe are Kickstarter exclusive, so if your still a recurring player for the game this is a nice plus but a huge negative would be that you have to wait next year to get them in-game. This channel is new but the video seems so professionally done. Also, I love seeing the 40+ board games on the bookshelf behind you wish I had that.
Awesome! Welcome to the Kickstarter addiction, haha. It's really fun to back games on Kickstarter, and I think you could do much worse than this one as your first game. I hope you love it and it gets lots of plays! And oh yeah, if you play the video game, that gives the skins a lots of value too to offset some of that cost. What's your favourite year? Campaign games are so tough to keep going - I had a group doing a campaign of Dungeon World before the pandemic hit and was just talking with our DM last night and he said he couldn't remember a thing about it haha. So it's nice to have something like this that you can pull out and play when people are over and it has a significantly lower time commitment. I'm very excited for you to get it - and who knows you may have your own shelf full of games before long ;) haha. (The second hand market is great for picking these up because generally I've found people keep their games in good condition and finding them on Kijiji I can get them for 75-50% of retail prices) Thanks for watching and commenting, absolutely love hearing about people's first Kickstarters.
@@RoomandBoardReviews Wow, I've never heard of Kijiji or thought of buying it through second-hand markets, my only experience with them was through eBay and Amazon. I assumed when you talked about retail in your video I thought you meant big stores like Walmart or Target, definitely look it up when I can't pour my money into a board game I found interesting. Speaking of which, I discovered another board game but can't fund it as I've only had the budget for Siege. The board game is called "Velocity: Vanguard - RELAUNCH!" and it is a sci-fi spaceship battle-type that is solo/cooperative/competitive, story-driven, mission-based gameplay on Kickstarter. The gameplay reminds me so much of the video game Homeworld and if you're a huge fan of sci-fi ship battles where you need to turn/drift against enemy missiles and railguns then I think you should check this game out. The problem is that I'm not sure if this game would reach its goal yet and would need to pay another +$100 for more content; could you tell me what other websites you've used to scope out board games? Back to the topic of the Siege board game, I think the daily unlocks are starting to rub onto me as it makes me want to check on their website every day to see what's new. Today they announced a new operator (Flores) to go along with the core box.
@@steelxspider5274 Oh yeah, I've been eagerly checking it every day too, been really curious about the unlocks. And yeah, Kijiji might just be a Canadian thing, I'm not sure. It's similar to Craiglist. But for Board Games in general Boardgamegeek.com is a great resource if you haven't heard of it - it's a database where people can rate games and post in forums, you'll often find discussions and rule clarifications there as well as reviews. Target and Walmart are getting a larger selection, but there are definitely stores out there that are dedicated to only board games. The ones I usually look at here in Toronto are 401games, Board Game Bliss, and MeepleMart. I'm not as familiar with the ones in the states, but I've heard many people talk about Miniaturemarket.com and coolstuffinc.com, which might give you better shipping if you're in the states than the other three that I mentioned. I hadn't yet checked out Velocity Vanguard, it looks pretty neat, thanks for the tip. They do have a long way to go, but they have 27 days to fund so it might get there yet!
I Iike your content. Free and easy conversational style. These 'not back' vids are great (and needed / wanted) I'm looking forward to watching your channel grow. Subbed.
Literally just backed it two days ago, and while I personally don't regret my decision this was a fantastic video, I honestly thought it was going to be someone trash talking it but you did such a good job. Really well done mate!
I bought the Hunger Games Mocking Jay board game last year and I loved it even though it was not widely known or advertised. I think you should give this game a chance.
Awesome format, keep them coming! For 6 Siege, I don't like the lack of variety in maps in the core box, and even with the expanded maps I feel it needs more game mode variety (although maybe that isn't true to the video game)
Thanks a lot, I'm glad you like it! Yeah the maps seem like the best variation, I think it'll all depend on how many scenarios get thrown in, or how many different setups you can do - I like that you can see the core box setups (or the ones that are currently part of the scenario booklet) on the kickstarter though, to get a sense of what you'll get with the other packs as well.
There are three modes in the board game, which seems alright, especially considering that in the video game the only mode that is considered competitive is "bomb" while the others see much less play. A second double-sided board seems like a no-brainer as an unlock, though. Would be disappointed if that doesn't happen.
i am practically trying to physically restrain myself from dropping $590 on this game (im in the lucky position where my only expense is the siege battle pass every few months, because i'm still a teenager living with my mom)... it looks phenomenal, and i am an absolute massive nerd when it comes to siege, and this is one of the only board games where i see the gameplay and want to actually play it. I enjoy board games, but i've never really seen one and gone "i need that" i think that the experience of painting all the miniatures, and playing with my friends will be an absolute blast, and i swear it's not just an excuse to get some ridiculously expensive and rare skins... i SWEAR.
Probably one of the best skirmish game with a unique feel to it. Too bad I don't have the group to play this. Might try to convince people from my group to try it once it's in store tho. KS made me realized that I missed the time where I could just try the base game before buying the expansions of the game. The base game is plenty enough to start with anyway. I think that most expansions are only worth hit if it hit the table on regular basis in your group. Otherwise, the expansions are going to be mostly collecting dust on your shelf. Just my 2 cents!
100% agree. I was musing upon this in a recent video, it's so tough with a lot of kickstarter expansions because you don't get the chance to let the game develop and add in little pieces at a time, but you have to decide right there if it's for you. I'm looking forward to this one in store as well, hope the map packs make it to retail at least. I feel like you should be at least able to get them from mythic directly down the line hopefully!
The 3 - 4 players modes have been amplified a little bit with the Recruit mode being added...but I do agree that this game seems to primarily be a case of a 1v1 with additional players primarily being 'if someone else turns up', rather than planning for the full set of players.
Definitely a good note to add. What do you think about the Recruit mode? I kind of felt like, why would I use these characters when I have more exciting characters I could play, although maybe the customization aspect will feel different throughout. I wonder how long it takes them to level up though, I'm assuming once per round.
@@RoomandBoardReviews Not sure if you read the rules, but basically the Recruit acts as the character that is 'contested' and controlled by both players on the team. The exciting part of the character is the upgrading of them at the end of each round. So throughout the game, he just gets stronger and stronger with his weapon and provides utility. This is where you can specialize them into a 'range' and in doing so you give your entire side more utility by being able to transfer charge cubes you are removing from the recruit's board and putting them on the inventory board. You need another frag for a situation, boom, at the end of the round take one of the charge cubes off of the Recruit and give yourself an additional frag. One thing to note is that the Recruit is part of the mode, both sides have to take him, he is not 'just another operator' that can be selected asymmetrically. So, either that is positive or negative in your book.
Just to clarify the upgrading is once at the end of each round, so between the 6 upgrades he won't be 'fully' upgraded, but you can max out two ranges.
@@Exoc3tBOOM Oh nice, yeah I saw they were saying "Scythe like upgrades" but I had just skimmed over it so didn't realize you got the extra equipment, that makes it seem more interesting than I was expecting.
In terms of shipping, it's kinda funny that the US and CA are finally having to deal with shipping costs that are more 'normal' for me. I'm in New Zealand and looking back at Reichbusters the shipping was 84usd...so for my shipping to now 'only' be 42usd I'm fine with it...I guess it is just more about people finally realizing what shipping costs and you can't just subsidize the shipping through the profit on KS anymore for the US backers. (this is a bit of a guess, but that is what 'one' ks dev has said to me...but I have no idea if that is universal or not)
SAM HEALEY! Not all in but base core box pledge and maybe a map pack. One thing I'd like to point out is the two thai playthroughs on the kickstarter page. Those guys aren't regular boardgame players to my knowledge, but rather videogame fans or esports pros. If even these non-boardgamers can learn the game and get how it works, I think it is telling how well designed it is. You could probably introduce this to new players easily.
That's a great point, I didn't end up watching that one, but I love seeing "non boardgamers" enjoy something and pick it up. The theme probably helped them on this one, but for sure a good point to add.
Besides it being a two-player game, which don't get to the table much. I have Tannhauser which is a FPS that goes to four players with everything from capture the flag, death match and skill mode.
I think this game looks amazing and I’m all-in! 😁 Personally I think limited time is really cool in the right game (like this one), and the skill/experience difference can be compensated for in the app (giving players different amounts of time). I mostly play with 1 other person at a time, so, for me, the player count isn’t a problem. But even if I had a group, this looks so good I’d find time to play just this with 1 other person. That said, I think you get a lot/enough gameplay from the base pledge, unless you get really obsessed with this game. Also, the last I read (from Sam Healey on KS) the game was at that point not going to retail, so maybe check what they’re saying at the end of the campaign to be sure. Anyway, good video! 👍
Nice! Hope you love it! And good looking out, I'll definitely double check, last I saw was in the FAQ where they say "most likely yes with some changes" but definitely will check in a couple days to be sure. If they change that I'll be pretty close to jumping in because you're right, it does look really great.
I backed premium all-in. I love siege, got a lottt of hours in it. i wanted to have everything and anything of this, i paint miniatures in my freetime a lot because i like it and I play dungeons and dragons with my friends. My best friend and I cant wait to play this game and paint those beautifulllll miniatures:)
Awesome! Yeah they really look great don't they? Hope you have a ton of fun with it. It looks like such a faithful adaptation too, a no brainer to back for fans of the video game for sure.
I need to brush up (Ha!) on my painting skills for this one. I had to go for the premium too, but my best friend is the one that generally paints minis for D&D and games. He's currently painting my Mansions of Madness minis 'cause he loved the game so much and I wasn't sure if I was going to buy supplies to paint it. I really should for this one (and at least one other Kickstarter I backed). Really want to get my skills up so I can do the nice minis justice.
@@devinvandelaar948 I feel it. I don't think I even finished my Last Night on Earth minis. I really need to go buy some supplies and use those as practice.
@@kyleb8117 i keep buying new stuff hahaha lotssssss of warhammer mini’s on my dnd table haha and I paint for people around me too. You can sent your minis to me if you want them painted haha😉

lol i almost backed the all in version but after seeing this and noted that is mostly a 2 player game, the last argument of... well you have all this content but you are rarely going to play it save me of almost 500 bucks (I'm from the "rest of the world" shipping side), because my go to 2 player games right now are Star Wars Rebellion and the War of the Ring, because my wife is a huge "theme" fan in board games, but she almost know nothing of Rainbow Six, so with that said i will wait to get the retail version. PS Nice serie, you got a new suscriptor, keep the good work
I'm with you in point 2. I really want to play 6 Siege, but I also want to play Star Wars Rebellion....but my group is between 3 and 5 players. So, Rebellion has a rare chance to hit the table (happened once in 2 years) and the same would happen to 6 Siege 😪
The struggle is real, haha. It's definitely why I'll probably wait for retail, because I'll still have that hope, but then at least I've saved a little bit of money haha
I think instead waiting for retail I'd rather wait for the 6 Siege crowdfunding campaign. And now 5 reasons why I shouldn't back Lavon Rising. Please...
@@PGCole Haha, yeah that one looks pretty neat. It does currently look like it's going to crack 1 million, that's my current bar for the series, so we'll see! Such a huge price point to enter if you don't have the base game though.
Excellent information regarding the cost to have this game delivered to your door. Quite expensive shipping costs. Perhaps shipping costs are included if you spend more than $100. Or $200. And purchase a few games?
Nah, that's not how Kickstarters work unfortunately. Your best bet would be to check something like BoardGameGeek and see if there's a group buy happening, because that usually helps reduce the shipping costs significantly. But it's pretty rare that free shipping is ever offered with board game kickstarters, especially right now when shipping containers are so astronomically expensive.
This is the first Kickstarter project I've backed, after seeing all the unlocks I don't really regret it at all despite having to pay more for it here in Canada. Getting two alternate skins, two brand new operators (Flores & Thunderbird), and a KS exclusive Rookie game mode that implements 4 player co-op into the game much better than the base game that will be hitting the shelves, I'm fairly satisfied. All the plastic and acrylic reworks are just icing on the cake, though if I had to nitpick about anything it's how boring the acrylic smoke, gas, and flame markers look compared to the cardboard originals, and not having upgraded tokens for the hidden defenders, since they'll wear over time and it'll be obvious which is a decoy and which is the real character. No doubt third party retailers will be releasing their own miniature alternate acrylic/plastic replacements and 3D furniture if the game gets popular enough though.
Yeah that is surprising that those hidden tokens didn't get upgraded but probably too many when you account for all the characters. Hope you love it, first Kickstarters are always very exciting! Now to let the addiction consume you haha
I'm still thinking. The game really looks awesome and I loved playing the videogame in it's early days. Problems I have right now, I usually don't play 1vs1 games. But on the flipsite, this might be worth a game to have ready on the shelf, if there ever is a chance to play a 1vs1, because many other games I own, are not really much fun with 2 players. But then again, my usual suspects I play with are only gathering, when we are 4+ players. So this means the 2 player situation is very unlikely to ever happen. I tried out the Tabletop Simulator version and after a quick play with myself I found myself tweaking the TTS version here and there to make it better. Then after spending about 2 days tweaking around the component and layout of the TTS version I asked my friends if someone wants to play a round with me, to see if this is something worth backing. Sadly the friend didn't had time today, so we are going to try this out tomorrow now. Another big bummer are the shipping prices, which basically makes the core pledges less appealing. But then again I love having more alternative characters anyways, so the Trooper Pledge was what I was aiming for anyway and when the pladge suddenly costs 200$ the shipping to Germany for 40$ isn't that much any longer. But it all depends on the play through I am going to have with a friend of mine. I already had some issues with the game when I played with myself, so I wonder if the same issues will come up when actually 2 people plays this. I wasn't very tactical when I played with myself barely used any gadgets or even cover. Going in, shoot, kill. That match ended in round two. The 2nd I tried with myself was a bit slower and more tactical, but still ended in round 3. And the biggest Issue I see for example on the bomb missions I played is how easy it seems to be for the Defenders. But that's where the alternative characters come in I guess, since the TTS version has very limited characters and I even didn't bothered changing the 10 characters that were picked already, ignoring the remaining 10 completely. Maybe it's just a balance thing of the characters and the perfect use of their gadgets. The fact that the Kickstarter only runs for 10 days also is a big factor I hate, because it puts me into a pressure I don't like. Especially when it's a dumb move that such a campaign starts and end at the end of a month. Mythic should now most people get their money at the start of a month to spent...
That's definitely valid with the timing, I didn't even consider it. But yeah I agree it does look really fun, and might definitely be worthwhile of you don't have that many 2 player games! With the trooper pledge at least the shipping isn't as drastic a percentage as just the core box. Hey, you can always pledge for a dollar and get the trooper afterwards and yeah you miss out on the zero alternate sculpt but you'll get like 65 characters with the trooper so I doubt you'd reeally need to add it, vs pledging right now
@@RoomandBoardReviews Ya that 1 dollar pledge might is what I end up for now. And I really don't like those alternative Operator looks anyways. It's not like they are total new Operators, but only an alternative Skin like in the video game. So for me I know, the alternative Skins would never hit the table, because I don't care about those skins and will just end up being inside the box or shelf forever. For the Daily Unlocks I like they add in plastic versions of the cameras, because the cardboard versions are hard to read on the table. But I'm kinda concerned many of the Daily Unlocks will end up having more and more Alternative Operator skins :( I also think the Daily Unlocks are just an easy way out to maximize profit. The content we usually get is way less than what we would have gotten with Stretch Goals. Anyways, the 1 dollar pledge actually is a good idea, which gives me a bit more time to consider, thx!
@@Sismanski Yeah I feel you on the maximizing profit. And yeah, I don't care about the extra sculpts either, maybe because I don't paint. The extra stat sheets would be what would do it for me, providing they feel different enough. It does seem like every day with the alternate sculpts they'll still unlock a plastic something or other, but I really don't forsee anything mind blowing coming down the line in that regard.
I don't know much about shipping, but i feel like if Amazon can ship any board game, nearly anywhere for probably less than $50, i don't get why board game companies can't piggyback off that. Like set up a deal with Amazon or some shipping service. Ship it to the US (or somewhere) for cheaper freight costs, then ship it to whatever country it needs to go. $150+ seems crazy!!
Yeah, I'm not sure either. Maybe it has something to do with warehouse space, and that the freight costs are already covered/Amazon just being able to have items stashed conveniently all over, but yeah, I certainly wouldn't be able to back any kickstarter if those were my shipping prices.
You could try and approach your local store and see if they are interested in buying a few copies under the retail system Mythic does...maybe an option. - Subbed btw
Yeah, that makes sense. Although do you think there'd be room for set puzzles of how to break in and out? I think with the defender setup being such a part of the game, it feels like any puzzles they'd make would suffer from the lack of reaction from a real person
Thanks for the video and the laughs, glad i subscribed! I was thinking this would be a retail game before the KS release, but i was tempted by the lower than expected price tag. If they're assuming the shipping trend will continue (which is smart) i repect the high projected cost. I'm really hoping already funded projects don't double their shipping but I'm trying to budget for it, and trying to gauge which projects in the near future are grossly under estimating their shipping costs. Anyways, I'll be trying to get this at retail (maybe wait for a sale). Looks like a good game!
Hey, thanks for subscribing! Yeah, I think they deserve big recognition for not underestimating the costs, just to make it more palatable and then have people be upset later down the line. That's something I hadn't considered, but it's so much better than jacking the prices down the line.
5 more reasons to never give Mythic Games your money 1) They will waste your money and subsidize other campaigns 2) They have poor communication 3) They have a BACKLOG of campaigns to fulfill 4) Their games tend to have/need errata and balance patches 5) They will hold your pledge hostage unless you give them more money
So look... I didn't back but I took the opportunity to test play this at Gen con and it's good. Its really good.... And I don't particularly like skirmish games and I totally lost the game I played. And It's up for late pledge now.
As always, thank you Chris for doing this series to help us out of the kickstarter hype and FOMO! I watched the playthrough video of the kickstarter fanboys who always tell you to back everything, so I have my own opinion as to why I should not back this game. I was trying to imagine what the decision-making process could have been for the design of the game; try to imagine the conversation in the mythic games headquarters. In the middle of playtesting, the head of the studio drops by to have a chat with the lead designer of the game (one Carlos Gomez Quintana whose only other credit in game design is a game from 2019 called Coreball I had never heard of): - Head of Studio Mythic (HM): Hi Carlos, how is the game design for the six siege prototype going? Is Mythic finally going to be able to publish a skirmish game where players don’t spend half the playing time looking up rules and even worse, googling rules clarifications in the internet? - Carlos: Well, the game is quite complex right now. Apart from the usual character abilities that we had in Mythic battles, we’re adding concepts from wargames like line of sight that needs a laser pointer to measure and terrain that the players can fully interact with. Meanwhile, in the background we can hear playtesters asking each other questions about the game rules that they are having a hard time figuring out: - Playtester 1: What’s the range of a claymore? - Playtester 2: What’s the movement value of a drone? - HM: Carlos, I am freaking out right now. Let me tell you a little story about the past of our studio. We started doing skirmish games with Conan and we made a crapload of money. So we got greedy and we decided to increase the complexity of rules in the Gotham City Chronicles kickstarter. Each new scenario that we unlocked during the kickstarter included a rules twist that increased complexity to a ridiculous degree and made players check the rule book for every single attack dice roll that they made. We didn’t really care about ease of play; after all, it’s kickstarter. Once we collect the pledges, we might as well ship garbage to the backers. What could possibly go wrong? Well, it turns out that Gotham City Chronicles received awful reviews (see for example, Shut up and sit down) and we were called out for designing a game that was basically unplayable. Please tell me that you’ve simplified the gameplay in comparison with Mythic battles pantheon? - Carlos: To be honest, this game is much more complex than mythic battles pantheon (by a degree of 10): Not only does it have the same rules complexity as mythic battles, but it also allows the player to perform actions in the middle of their movement. Which means that the player will have to remember how many movement points they’ve spent before they stopped to install a claymore. - HM: Carlos, you are such a joy to work with. Going back to the original question, what are you doing to ensure that players don’t spend half the game googling rules in the internet? - Carlos: The game is real-time, so players only have a limited amount of time to decide their actions. - HM: When you say real-time, do you mean like in Project Elite, where both factions in the skirmish have their turns at the same time? - Carlos: No, I mean real-time like in a chess clock. Players have to decide and execute their turns before a timer runs out. Then the time pressure is passed to the other player. - HM: Hmmm, could be interesting. Do you think the time pressure for the players will result in them making strategic mistakes, like inadvertently tripping on a mine? - Carlos: Probably not because the mines are not hidden, they are in plain sight. Probably the time pressure will simply result in players making rules mistakes. - HM: I hope people won’t notice how flawed the design is during the kickstarter campaign. What am I saying? We’ll raise 3 million $ during the campaign because of the IP. In fact, we could kickstart a game that’s complete garbage and we’d still make 3 million $. Keep it up Carlos!
I am hopeful that the individual characters abilities at least aren't too complicated and are intuitive, but especially when one person know the rules and is introducing a new player, they'd better set up a SIGNIFICANT time difference to level the playing field.
@@RoomandBoardReviews I also frequently find myself in the situation of being the player who has not only purchased the game but also spent several hours studying the rules. I find it very important that my co-pilot has also made some sort of effort studying the rules. Otherwise we’ll be adding my rules mistakes to his own rules mistakes (I’m not so lucky to have a game-enthusiast girlfriend) and the game experience won’t work.
@@RoomandBoardReviews even though mythic battles was still a lot simpler than, say Edge Dawnfall, I found that if me and my buddy hadn’t made a huge effort to study rules and google clarifications, the rules mistakes would have killed the experience. I see the potential for this to happen in 6 siege as well. I mean if you watch the 6 siege playthrough with boardgameco and quackalope, quackalope needed extensive guidance for every single action he took in the game.
This falls square into the where would I play it category. I have two people I play two player games with but one doesn't like the theme and the other doesn't like real time. The game looks really cool though
Time will tell whether I regret going all-in for the fancy plastic $270 version. This is the first time I've backed a Kickstarter fully knowing I might regret it. I saw the insane shipping ($50 in my case) and the likelihood everything was overpriced. I don't have painting skills (or even supplies) yet with minis. I also don't have someone currently I'd for sure play this with other than maybe my best friend who's moving to another state. The unlocks only really had Recruit mode as anything even being really added--the rest was just deluxifying and they surely already knew this was going to be a thing ahead of time since it wasn't stretch goals...which is an odd choice for a campaign. The skin voting was completely open to the public allowing all sorts of people who have zero investment in the game to vote how their friend/family wants them to and all but one I voted for lost. There were so many reasons for me to say no. However, I had a really nice run with Rainbow 6: Siege through the first 4 years of the game. This Kickstarter renewed my interest in playing the video game. (I even matched with randoms and unlocked my girl Dokkaebi finally.) I'm likely going to make use of the Kickstarter skins in the video game. I consumed gameplay videos and every single one convinced me I had to have this game--including one that was before the Kickstarter even started. I know I'm going to love this game. The question is whether I'll find someone who doesn't also own the game that will want to play it with me. Maybe I'll go insane and play solo versus myself. Haha.
Haha, I'm sure you'll find someone and it sounds like you'll love it! "No ragrets!" At least the shipping feels a bit better when you're spending more on the game itself, haha which is not a great justification but that's what I've told myself countless times. I do love when the minis come in different colour plastic because I never worry about painting in that case since they're easy to read on the board.
I figure it's very likely I'm going to either recruit someone or find someone at a game night in the future. Chances are I'll be getting Kickstarter exclusive items and it's likely the cost (even if shipping goes down later) of buying everything I'm getting will probably be more. I think I settled on it because I knew my love for the IP and the uniqueness of the gameplay versus the rest of my collection is going to make it worth it to have. Good point on the colored minis. I'm probably going to use those name bases at all times to help readability on the board, but leaving the minis as unpainted solid colors would be very readable. They were talking about the name bases as if they were just for new players getting used to the minis but I honestly think it'll be worth always using just so if you're in a panic from time crunch you won't be like "WHERE IS BLITZ?"
@@kyleb8117 haha 100% It would be great if the poses matched the pictures/character sheets to help with that, I've seen some people say that as well so could change. Probably not though because they'll maintain the video game art on the sheets I imagine
@@RoomandBoardReviews Yeah, I imagine they'll maintain the video game art. I don't mind it (probably because I've seen the ops a ton of times in game), but I get the complaint. It seems a tough situation for them: keep the game art and match the minis (which'll probably be boring minis) or make new art to match what minis you want (which is probably a headache for the artist). I'm no artist though, so maybe it's reasonably doable.
Mate, you are making some great videos. Please keep it up! Shipping cost is the only things turning me off. Have to see if the KS exclusives make it worth it
lol, I am an old siege player, don't play it anymore, but I am a BIG mini/wargame player. It fits right in for me, so I got the full pledge. Still looking forward to it. Oops, sorry. Why SHOULDN'T we get it =P
Haha awesome, I hope you love it! This was a hard one for me to resist, I think it ranked as my second favourite 1 million plus campaign of 2021. It really does look like a blast.
I bought the trooper pledge because i'm a huge fan a r6 the video game and i wants every operator but you made good points for sure and me to i'm gonna bagged my girlfriend to play with me ahahhahahah anyway if your close to Montreal we could play together someday ahahah
Every game that doesn't hit 1 million, I still provide coverage on in my Monday show Crowdfunding Countdown, where I read through all the rulebooks of everything on crowdfunding every single week, so it will likely see less in depth coverage over there.
@@lotterwinner6474 Oh yeah, I just went down a rabbit hole on BGG looking at all the stuff they've put out for it. Wow it looks visually so stunning - Realistically it'll probably be out of my price range, but definitely will be one to watch for when it drops!
Haha oh noooo. RIP. But to be fair, I certainly didn't see this coming either. I was really excited to grab this at retail, and this was my 2nd favourite looking campaign of that year (I ranked all the 1 million campaigns at the end of the year in a video for fun)
Excellent content & editing-subscribed! Surprised you don’t have a bigger audience, but keep it up and you’ll grow quickly.
Hey thanks so much, I really appreciate that a lot!
Great video. The way you speak/explain is so calm and welcoming I actually watched the entire video without fast-forwarding one time. **subscribed**

You are one of my very favorite board game channels currently (and trust me, I follow them all!) - lots of unique and high-quality content, charming but not overbearing humor, a compulsively listenable speaking tone and cadence, and of course incredibly insightful commentary on the industry. Keep up the great work!
Wow, thanks so much :) that really means a lot, very kind of you to say.

(The second hand market is great for picking these up because generally I've found people keep their games in good condition and finding them on Kijiji I can get them for 75-50% of retail prices)
Thanks for watching and commenting, absolutely love hearing about people's first Kickstarters.
Great format. Short concise, well researched, good points.
Thanks a bunch, I appreciate it!
I Iike your content. Free and easy conversational style. These 'not back' vids are great (and needed / wanted)
I'm looking forward to watching your channel grow. Subbed.
Thanks so much, that means a lot :)
Literally just backed it two days ago, and while I personally don't regret my decision this was a fantastic video, I honestly thought it was going to be someone trash talking it but you did such a good job. Really well done mate!
Thanks so much, that means a lot :)
I bought the Hunger Games Mocking Jay board game last year and I loved it even though it was not widely known or advertised. I think you should give this game a chance.
I'll definitely look into it, thanks for the recommendation :)
(this is a bit of a guess, but that is what 'one' ks dev has said to me...but I have no idea if that is universal or not)
I am currently rendering my video out for this game. Great video 😁 I am also not backing shipping to high
Nice! Yeah, those prices are a pretty big hurdle, that's for sure.
It's most certainly the kind of game (like Root for ex) where experienced gamers will crush mew players. You have too many parameters to consider.
Besides it being a two-player game, which don't get to the table much. I have Tannhauser which is a FPS that goes to four players with everything from capture the flag, death match and skill mode.
Oh that's really cool, I'll have to check that out.
@@RoomandBoardReviews it's pretty affordable as long as your not a completeionist.
Lol I will most likely cancel my pledge unless they wow me with unlocks. You nailed it.
I was waiting for them to announce the Presidential Plane map as an unlock or really any map. Oh well.
Really want to get my skills up so I can do the nice minis justice.

lol i almost backed the all in version but after seeing this and noted that is mostly a 2 player game, the last argument of... well you have all this content but you are rarely going to play it save me of almost 500 bucks (I'm from the "rest of the world" shipping side), because my go to 2 player games right now are Star Wars Rebellion and the War of the Ring, because my wife is a huge "theme" fan in board games, but she almost know nothing of Rainbow Six, so with that said i will wait to get the retail version.
PS Nice serie, you got a new suscriptor, keep the good work
Thanks for watching, I'm glad it was helpful. I feel that struggle, it's so easy to want to get everything with something like this haha.
Thank you for this! I was looking at funding this but you've really raised some interesting points!
My pleasure, glad it's helpful!
Seems a bunch like Imperial Assault, but with a modern military theme, which I am super down for!
I've never played Imperial Assault but that really makes me want to try it out!
Just found your channel really like it :) subbed
Hey thanks so much, that means a lot :)
This was a great video! Sadly as a mostly solo gamer, not having a solo mode is an instant pass even though it actually looks like a ton of fun.

5 more reasons to never give Mythic Games your money
1) They will waste your money and subsidize other campaigns
2) They have poor communication
3) They have a BACKLOG of campaigns to fulfill
4) Their games tend to have/need errata and balance patches
5) They will hold your pledge hostage unless you give them more money
So look... I didn't back but I took the opportunity to test play this at Gen con and it's good. Its really good.... And I don't particularly like skirmish games and I totally lost the game I played.
And It's up for late pledge now.
Don't do this to me! haha
In the middle of playtesting, the head of the studio drops by to have a chat with the lead designer of the game (one Carlos Gomez Quintana whose only other credit in game design is a game from 2019 called Coreball I had never heard of):
- Head of Studio Mythic (HM): Hi Carlos, how is the game design for the six siege prototype going? Is Mythic finally going to be able to publish a skirmish game where players don’t spend half the playing time looking up rules and even worse, googling rules clarifications in the internet?
- Carlos: Well, the game is quite complex right now. Apart from the usual character abilities that we had in Mythic battles, we’re adding concepts from wargames like line of sight that needs a laser pointer to measure and terrain that the players can fully interact with.
Meanwhile, in the background we can hear playtesters asking each other questions about the game rules that they are having a hard time figuring out:
- Playtester 1: What’s the range of a claymore?
Ahahahaha this is gold. "Nope, the mines are in plain sight, people will probably just make rules mistakes" I'm dying over here. 😂
@@luisfranciscomontero1544 Yeah completely fair, I can see this being a really tough experience to introduce newer players to for sure.
This falls square into the where would I play it category. I have two people I play two player games with but one doesn't like the theme and the other doesn't like real time.
The game looks really cool though
I know! 100%, I'm really hoping that I can get it played as frequently as I'd like to, but currently the prospects aren't looking so good, haha.
Great Video - i dont pledge either. Its just a theme i dont like. So it just doesnt trigger my inner Nerd 🙂
Haha, I love that - triggering your inner nerd is so important!
Have to see if the KS exclusives make it worth it
Thanks so much, that means a lot! I'm 100 percent in the same boat, gotta have something that's worth that extra cost
👍
Nice list, these are good reasons 👍
lol, I am an old siege player, don't play it anymore, but I am a BIG mini/wargame player.
I saw the Trooper Pledge and immediately heard Iron Maiden
Haha that's the soundtrack right there! That's such a banging song.
@@RoomandBoardReviews mainly Number of the Beast
@@glitch6781 Ah see I heard The Trooper, haha
@@RoomandBoardReviews and this is the second board game I've backed on Kickstarter
@@glitch6781 Nice, I hope you love it! What was the first?
Keep it up!
Thanks!
Came to hate this but staying because I LOVE it
Haha, thanks a bunch!
I bought the trooper pledge because i'm a huge fan a r6 the video game and i wants every operator but you made good points for sure and me to i'm gonna bagged my girlfriend to play with me ahahhahahah anyway if your close to Montreal we could play together someday ahahah
I'm not that far off in Toronto, so I may take you up on that some day! I hope she plays a bunch with you haha!
Do a video on Imperial Borders
Every game that doesn't hit 1 million, I still provide coverage on in my Monday show Crowdfunding Countdown, where I read through all the rulebooks of everything on crowdfunding every single week, so it will likely see less in depth coverage over there.
The number 1 reason you should not back is because this is not Sankokushin.
I'd never heard of it and just looked it up. Holy crap that looks gorgeous, is that out already?
@@RoomandBoardReviews not yet, the plan is to launch later this year.
@@lotterwinner6474 Oh yeah, I just went down a rabbit hole on BGG looking at all the stuff they've put out for it. Wow it looks visually so stunning - Realistically it'll probably be out of my price range, but definitely will be one to watch for when it drops!
@@RoomandBoardReviews ive cut myself off of backing anything until it comes out to try and justify what im going to spend on it.
Saw this a bit too late 🤣😭
Haha oh noooo. RIP. But to be fair, I certainly didn't see this coming either. I was really excited to grab this at retail, and this was my 2nd favourite looking campaign of that year (I ranked all the 1 million campaigns at the end of the year in a video for fun)
Dude - took too long to get to the point.
