I go to UW too and most students move off campus after their freshman year because the dorms here are mostly just for freshmen and people generally prefer to have more space or live somewhere nicer after their first year. Some students do also choose to stay in the dorms after their first year but it’s all about personal preference :)

To add to that, it can also be much less expensive. For some apartments, you basically pay about the same or less for a nicer place to stay
