Wa u both so lucky to see all those firecrackers, fireworks n massive temple celebrations. Hardly see such temple celebrations in Singapore these days 👍🏼 by the way, a car salesman i came across call the shade of red u r wearing as "dua pek gong eh ang" 😂😂😂
Wah! The wayang very modern. Singapore was also like that in past. During temple days, there would be wayang, puppet shows & many hawkers. Everyone would gather regardless of age or race as there was little other entertainment. My grandfather would sell rojak.
I thought so coz my mum was always telling me how 热闹 it was during kampong days. I think this is what our wayang would also have looked like if it have continued developing strongly in SG :)
Fujian province of China has the most deities for the entire country due to their port and fishing history in early centuries and their ancestors' need for peace and safety blessing on the sea. And since Tainan is the first developed city of Taiwan and one of the earliest ports (by the Dutch), more temples means more deities means more blessings means more comfort. That two words are 开基 meaning foundation/starting. I have tried fish liver before (quite rare to find), it's super nice!

The fish you had is Milkfish; the intestine is really alot of work, because if not done well may be bitter or fishy. Another thing is that there is a difference between our local milkfish and theirs also, especially the taste and fattiness. Tainan vibes is very much like the early days of SG up till the 90s.
