Nothing like good ol' wholesome family entertainment from the 1960's.

Wow! This is FANTASTIC! Thank you for sharing. I love this type of comedy that's just pure, innocent, creative talent. This is Disney at its best, before the greed and commercialization it is now. This type of talent needs to continue to be exposed...if it continues to exist.

Forty-nine years later I still find myself laughing out loud, watching these two perform.
Silly, funny, good old fashioned comedy, that doesn't need profanity or resort to demeaning others to be humorous.
Watching those parents laughing in the background, I realized that they were our parents, seeing those children in the audience having the time of their lives, I realized that, that was us many years ago, innocence personified.
Wally Boag and Betty Taylor are in a class all by themselves.

I met Wally Boag back in 2005 when he performed at the 50th anniversary party of Disneyland for the Disneyland Alumni club and he did his old routines and balloon animals and even his classic teeth spitting/falling out routine. Such a true original act. Won't be another one like him, RIP Wally

Wally was a distant cousin of mine, and every year at our big Easter picnic he would play the bagpipes and make baloon animals. He was a true clown (meant in a good way) that always had his sense of humor turned on. If you hear laughing from the heavens, it's because Wally just arrived.

yes, this is The Golden Horseshoe Revue. They performed it at least twice a day. All of it. My Dad used to work at Disneyland, one of his many jobs over the years was stage managing this very show. In fact the cast and crew took this show and performed it at The Whute House for President Nixon. At the time it was a great honor.

@shanteezi008 You're very welcome. Betty Taylor continued performing for five years after Wally Boag retired in 1982. Her show count was closer to 45,000. Simply amazing.

Statler: You know that Wally Boag was a multi-millionaire.
Waldorf: Where did he get his money from?
    Statler: The Tooth Fairy.

@LewKaplanski The original Golden Horseshoe Revue show ran about a half hour. For its 10,000th performance, it was expanded to fill a one-hour TV time slot on "Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color." The bar brawl you saw was added specifically for the broadcast, as were musical numbers by Annette Funicello & a duet between Betty Taylor and comedian Ed Wynn. If you can still find a copy, the complete broadcast is included on the Walt Disney Treasures DVD "Disneyland: Secrets, Stories & Magic."

I didn't think the bar brawl was part of the original show. That would have been a lot of glass and double basses to break. And you know very well that the booths on each side of the stage were filled by Disney "cast members."

As a child in the fifties I saw The Golden Horseshoe every time we went to Disneyland. I must have gone 20 times. But Wally Boag was always the highlight. Oh he made me laugh.

@UNDERGROUND2000 Funny you should mention Donald O'Connor. He and Wally met in Portland in 1939 when Wally was looking for his first big break. O'Connor and his brothers made up a dance team that was appearing in the area. At O'Connor's suggestion, Wally auditioned for a Hollywood agent touring the Northwest looking for talent. Wally impressed the agent and was soon on his way to Hollywood. As they say, the rest is history.

@UNDERGROUND2000 And, 32 years later, Wally and O'Connor performed together at the Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World.

@fromthesidelines Martin often cites Boag as his biggest influence when he was a young comedian. Over the years, they became good friends and Martin even wrote a foreword for Boag's memoir "The Clown Prince of Disneyland."

When Steve Martin worked at Disneyland in the '60s, Wally taught him how to create "balloon animals", which Steve often used in his performances during the '70s.
