    Thanks for posting this... Without being in the military, and without a teacher to learn from, carefully observing, and then accurately mimicking the movements with my own Ginunting, is the only way I can learn at the moment. What I've noticed, with my own Ginunting, is that the blade prefers to swung in specific angles. You can't just go flailing about. Anyhow, I like how light it is. The blade, the handle, it's a great design, and it's nice to see other militaries take training to use Filipino weaponry. I often wonder, how different the training was during the WW2 era, for my grandfather, and his brother.

    Arnis, Eskrima, and Kali were part of my JKD training for 5 years, classed as Black-belt in Washington State near JBLM. I have also trained with a Cuban Sifu and got another Black-belt with his DoJo. *I love Filipinos.*

    From my knowledge, they made it look like a dance so the Spaniards won't know they are training for combat.
    Other martial arts also have these forms that they call a "kata" where they practice their movies.
    So to summarize, they can actually be effective in combat because they help you learn more moves.

    hmmm, PTK is just one of the many systems that are taught in the Philippines. The military and all uniformed branches of service (take note that even firefighters are also trained for combat) were oriented in PTK throughout all the Regional Basic Training schools. The fact that PTK is taught in the uniformed service does not mean that it is the best. Remember, no martial art is better or superior over the other. The video we saw is just for show, hence, a demonstration.

    This is Pekiti Tirsia Kali, renamed for political issues. You can clearly see all the basic PTK curriculum such as 6 pointed star footwork, fluent attacks, knife jebs, contradas flow, some typical combinations. Too bad people steal and rename other arts curriculum.

    • @kicudo001
      @kicudo001 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, it's the same form. Yes, it's of the same origin. Yes, it's the same art. Don't you realize that the Philippines and Indonesia are one group of people before Europe arrived? They share many things before and now. Why do you think apple is Manzana in spanish? It's the same fruit, yet called differently. Because of language, and the people who calls it. Who cares whose martial art it is? The important thing is it survived to this day. You have a name for it, the Philippines has a name for it. Who cares?

      No it didn't. That organization is a modern martial arts group that was created. It is not the historic martial art of Lapu Lapu. Also Magellen was killed by arrows and spears not a freaking sword. The spanish carried him off and he died later. Stop spreading these lies. Also Magellen was a magnificent explorer who accomplished a lot and the natives just had to kill him.
