pekiti tirsia kali is known as one of the most deadliest martial arts kaya d basta basta tinuturo sa iba yan kasi mahirap na....kadalasan mga pulis at sundalo ang tinuturuan
phil.marines may look tough and deadly, but they are the one of the sweetest bunch of people i know, and most of them are from the south that i hardly understand the lingo . i'm from manila by the way
Thanks for posting this... Without being in the military, and without a teacher to learn from, carefully observing, and then accurately mimicking the movements with my own Ginunting, is the only way I can learn at the moment. What I've noticed, with my own Ginunting, is that the blade prefers to swung in specific angles. You can't just go flailing about. Anyhow, I like how light it is. The blade, the handle, it's a great design, and it's nice to see other militaries take training to use Filipino weaponry. I often wonder, how different the training was during the WW2 era, for my grandfather, and his brother.
ask chinese vet who survive in the korean war when they met the philippines marines in close combat on the battle of nanking river 1500 filipinos against 40,000 thousand chinese soldier well do the math....after the fighting stop on the next day 7,000 thousand are death and thousand are wounded the only lost in the filipinos is 25 soldier now tell me is that fancy enough for you....
Arnis, Eskrima, and Kali were part of my JKD training for 5 years, classed as Black-belt in Washington State near JBLM. I have also trained with a Cuban Sifu and got another Black-belt with his DoJo. *I love Filipinos.*
@hardkoolangot remember this is just a demo and remember they could have counter techniques for each of their attacks and also they have more techniques than this
Hindi dapat pinansasangga ang empty hand, noong nag-aral ako tinatago sa likod ang empty hand. Or else, gusto mo maging corned beef yung isang kamay mo.
Great to see us marines work with asia-pacific countries to see thier ways of training, survival, and overall traditions.Considering they live in amphibious area and know whats there and what to do
From my knowledge, they made it look like a dance so the Spaniards won't know they are training for combat. Other martial arts also have these forms that they call a "kata" where they practice their movies. So to summarize, they can actually be effective in combat because they help you learn more moves.
this my friend is called demonstration, you want real deal then go to mindanao with philippines scout rangers fighting abu sayaf terrorist this is why most japanese katanas lost in the jungle in the philippines because of this arts...
@stovall1231 you can thank Dan Inosanto for giving JKD it's foundation in arts like Esrkima and Kali. Organzations like the Marines, US and PHIL, practice this type of warfare at LEAST twice a week during normal training schedules.
nice ginunting dance,i iso that dance in late 1967.i can say, dance in a lower position, level ur head to the shoulder of ur opponent, where ur shout came from isah...and for daga or knife good technique, but now a day that is not accurate in actual fighting cos they can do bait and counter that technique.develope more accurate technique .....practice make us perfect .... mabuhay tayong lahat ,bangon pilipinas
@hardkoolangot This pertains not only to Phil. martial arts, but also to all of the martial arts. Besides, before the net was even invented, martial arts have been used for bad purposes anyways. It all depends on the person.
@hardkoolangot i don't think there's anything "supposedly secret military fighting technique" in this vid. these are just basic drills of ptk. and documentaries of other military agencies in training like the IDF, mossad, and SAS abound.
Our marines are one of a kind they can kill without guns or with guns. They have prove it in marawi mindanao fighting terrorist like abusayaf and isis.
hmmm, PTK is just one of the many systems that are taught in the Philippines. The military and all uniformed branches of service (take note that even firefighters are also trained for combat) were oriented in PTK throughout all the Regional Basic Training schools. The fact that PTK is taught in the uniformed service does not mean that it is the best. Remember, no martial art is better or superior over the other. The video we saw is just for show, hence, a demonstration.
Prado traing Kali means top Prado Kali martial arts istablesh to Philippine marine corps and saf police my uncle rited 2ndlt Manuel s Prado Jr 28 yrs in service grand master of Kali and blade master of top Prado blades original creator of Kali Martial arts
This is Pekiti Tirsia Kali, renamed for political issues. You can clearly see all the basic PTK curriculum such as 6 pointed star footwork, fluent attacks, knife jebs, contradas flow, some typical combinations. Too bad people steal and rename other arts curriculum.
Yes, it's the same form. Yes, it's of the same origin. Yes, it's the same art. Don't you realize that the Philippines and Indonesia are one group of people before Europe arrived? They share many things before and now. Why do you think apple is Manzana in spanish? It's the same fruit, yet called differently. Because of language, and the people who calls it. Who cares whose martial art it is? The important thing is it survived to this day. You have a name for it, the Philippines has a name for it. Who cares?
yeah, with those moves, that's probably why the US Special Forces Trains with the Philippines Marines on Guerilla Fighting, and also probably why the US Marines Respect our Military Tactics and Fighting Skills, don't believe me? ask a US Marine next time you see one? or search it up in the internet

i think that someone with the gun needs to be 7 steps to 10 steps away to have full advantage.... 1 to 6 steps a part with the knife fighter would be a different story 😊
They have also gun but in a situation hand to hand combat both soldier expended ammo... Who has an advantage? With a master of wielding bladed weapon or a soldier with a dumbass hand to hand combat expetise?
Hardly, outnumbered 100 to 1 and he killed several before. Guess what the Spanish came back and ruled there for 333 years--so who was better? And it wasn't gunpowder.
No it didn't. That organization is a modern martial arts group that was created. It is not the historic martial art of Lapu Lapu. Also Magellen was killed by arrows and spears not a freaking sword. The spanish carried him off and he died later. Stop spreading these lies. Also Magellen was a magnificent explorer who accomplished a lot and the natives just had to kill him.
I'm hoping for arnis fight..... Arnis where taught in highschool and college so most Filipino should know how to use it. I've seen better knife skill than this.... I bet its for the show only, but they do have fast reflexes though. Bow to them
+Riexa monz the technique of ginunting knife and arnis are the same they use the rattan sticks to be safe and for arnis sports . that is only for show arnis eskrima is fast that leaves the two fighters having blank minds and use the natural reflex and where your training sets in

@ChristofferEricsater I read somewhere that they use a shorter 15-16" version.
Nice. I'm glad both you and abell197001 both know your history.

Hay naku, we are teaching these americans the art of survival. dapat for every session 1 jet fighter is the payment for these...
those were fake knives, right? when they were first sparring eachother?
Allen Fister no I don't think so. I think it's more like self control.
The knife was unreal but the sword was real

What if someone has a gun?
