Man I am so glad I quit my gambling habit, I sure do hope one of my favorite TH-camr doesn’t convince me to gamble more of my money away
Whoops, must've been a mere coincidence! But those deals are looking mighty seductive and cheap huh... One or two can't hurt!
@@thespectresociety I’m now in crippling financial distress. But I did get more hot anime women so big ups
Bro's whole lore is literally just, "Let's go gambling! Aw Dangit. Aw Dangit. Aw Dangit. Aw Dangit. Aw Dangit. Aw Dangit. Aw Dangit."

it’s pretty funny watching someone interact with a gacha game for the first time
I play wuwa genshin star rail and zzz and i feel like a war veteran watching new recruits train
Uhh.. I play limbus company because there is a 3% chance of a 000 identity on every pull (more than 26% chance of getting at least one 000 on every 10 pull).
Bro, Genshin is considered veteran now?
@@MutualititveI mean considering it kinda popularized the open world gatcha game and influenced lots of other games to do the same, yeah it’s basically the og and baby daddy of these games.
It was even funnier watching them spend money when Ellen was definitely acquirable with all the rewards you were given for free.

8:32 Some slight corrections, if you don't get the S rank, the next S rank is guaranteed to be the one on the banner.
Also at 16:15 the reason it feels like it is missing panels and sound effects is because it is missing panels and sound effects as you seem to be using R2 to switch to the next page when the X button is the one to go down the page you are on giving more panels and sound effects.
I had the same issue with the panels, luckily I noticed the first time it happened. Really wish they made it more clear by actually stating press X to progress the slide, because right now there is no way of knowing without stumbling upon it or setting it to auto progress.
@@hydra8687 Yeah, I saw a lot of people not notice it until way later in Chapter 3 either due to Autoplay or having someone tell them, safe to assume many who play on a controller have likely missed some story bits of those comics.
@@Ali-cya I will say, you're doing a favor to most people, I may be playing on PC, but I would have tried to tell people the problem as soon as I saw that they missed some dialogue
I could imagine playing this game *purely* for the animation beacuse those cutscenes are way too smooth and expressive to not witness personally
Edit: yup, definetly enjoying it.
Gameplay boring af rn though.

@bingoviini that's fair. I came from "Punishing grey raven" to ZZZ. Along as you know what you're getting into, more power to you. I might reinstall ZZZ myself due to having basicly "beaten" PGR.

The reason why the ults feel lackluster is because it’s literally the chain attack animation with a super flash. That’s it. The only one I liked was koleda and ben’s tag team, cause at least it was something kinda new.
I'd throw shade at spending seventy five dollars on gacha loot boxes, but I've probably spent triple that on Overwatch lootboxes so... Great vid as always!
Rowby covering a mihoyo gacha game... what has the world come to
I mean he got on the map for playing one of the most live servicey live service games, adding gacha is just another drop in the bucket
As someone who has played pretty much every type of game out there, I gotta give it to Mihoyo, they make pretty damn high quality games. Even as generally dull as the first chapter for Genshin was, it still was fairly decent and told an okay story with some good world building, not to mention people say they've really improved on the story in the recent updates.
The only thing I disliked about their other two games was how out of the picture your character was most of the time, I'm glad they finally changed the narrative for them. Also, holy shit the animations look crazy in the cut-scenes (also tits).
The somewhat retro set up of zzz’s technology is on purpose since ether can corrupt technology too afaik. So the older technologies decreases its risks.
The 50/50 on the banner characters only applies to the first hit on an S rank, after that if you didn't get the banner character in the 50/50 the next S will ALWAYS be the banner character. It's basically the same banner system they use in Star Rail and Genshin. It may seem generous but it's actually deceptively evil, because the average pull sweet spot is in the 70+ pulls range unless you get lucky, so you'll need to stock up on about 160ish pulls to guarantee you're gonna get the banner character (unless you get lucky or don't fail the 50/50 that is) when you roll on them!
I think the comic panel style cutscenes may be bugged at the moment. I've seen other youtubers play it and the game just skips over entire panels which made the entire scene make little to no sense.
I get what it's suppose to mean, but every time I here something called a "gacha" game I think it's a scam. I always hear "gotchya" game. Like they want you to know they are scamming you and laugh when you fall for it. "We'll call it a got-ya game! How more obvious can we make it, but the suckers just keep giving us money!"
Fair. And even the best gacha game still had ridiculous dollars to game ratio.
Hundreds of dollars on Arknights over the course of 4 years tho. Just a couple at a time.
Still tho, the game itself is incredible. And the music is ridiculously inspired and cultured.
Operation blade
Immutable
Sentenced
Before and after
Settle into ash
Ilsiracusano- boss theme
Requiem

All good music but also boasting the biggest spread of genres I’ve ever heard. This is just a couple tracks they have hundreds of
Pretty sure that's where the stereotype of the word(originally from Japanese ball machines) originates from and the stereotyped word formed around them was because they indeed were sort of scams from paying for things that would get irrelevant to closing the servers of the game and everything you did going in smokes. Newer and popular gachas are much less predatory, but still pretty much are still live service games with sneaky and slightly RNG microtransactions.
Oh. It's made by the Chinese. Kind of a deal breaker.
Fk is wrong with it being made by Chinese ppl?
Right?
I'm willing to bet the device you made this comment from (and/or the vast majority of parts in it) was made by the Chinese.
So what's your point?
bro I got Ellen just by doing story and some missions every day for a week consistently like it's perfectly free to play so don't rush it and you will enjoy it
this game follow usual HYV gacha economy free player can pass all content with petiant time and a little bit of struggle you just need to stop your self from pull on every banner
but if you do have a bit if money to burn buy monthly subscribtion and premium battle pass can help alot
Excited to see this brave new world in which we eventually get Honkai Star Rail too. (Please.)
I can consider it.
@@RowbyVids I’m genuinely shocked at how much I’ve been enjoying the game.
Jarilo-VI is good-to-great, the Laofu is …admittedly rougher but still inoffensive, and Penacony might be some of my favorite fictional material I’ve played as of late. It’s shockingly apparent that HSR is the devs’ baby, and I can even recommend some actual normal-ass side quests for having good writing.
@lucyarisato6850 I'm on Jarilo IV right now, I just met Clara and Svarog. So I'm not sure how far I am, but I'm gonna play it more
Fun to see a video on Zenless Zone Zero from you

hearing someone explain the Gacha system in depth made me feel like my head was gonna fall off while my brain was doing wheelies, and I KNOW how the gacha system works since i've been playing genchin for 4 years. i can't imagine how that sounded to a newbie who doesn't understand it
Completely unrelated to the entirety of the vid, but this is my first time seeing Wise’s version of the intro when Billy realizes you’re Phaethon, and damn is it cool. Both intro’s scream “Let the game begin.” But Belle’s is more cocky while Wise seems interested in the conclusion regardless
I want to recommend Limbs Company, that game (Project Moon's game in general) have very good storytelling and characters as well as being more tactical the more you play.
It also F2P if you just want to check it out.
"There's polychrome everywhere"
Ahh... the welfare period... when the game makes you think it's more generous than it is...
Zenless is gonna be the first Mihoyo game I'm actually going to play, someone said it was budget DMC and I love me some DMC.
It's DMC for people who never played DMC.
Im a DMC player and ZZZ is still right up my alley
@@TheClone37 I'm DMC 4-5 player and DMC is good but it doesn't have Billy so i have to play ZZZ to get that
It's not like Honkai where it's just a JRPG with gacha stuff layered on top, it's very much still a mobile-first game, so it isn't anywhere near as deep as DMC or other character action games. But it looks flashy and it scratches the itch
The Ultimates are also used when you perform a Chain attack, so you do use them a lot, just with a different camera angle.
16:15: i think you're skipping the panel with R2. You're supposed to press X, sometimes there's multiple bits of dialogue to a single panel.
You probably already know this by now, and if you don't, you're not gonna see this anyway, but still.
Might as well do Wuthering Waves to go even deeper into the gacha hell.
Sick game, definitely gonna sell one of my kidneys for it
Nice video!
If i may give a (completely unwarranted) suggestion, I would like to mention Limbus Company. It's a gacha game made by Project Moon, the same people who made Lobotomy Corporation and Library of Ruina, and takes place in that world. The best part about it (besides it's amazing story) is that it's a gacha game made by a company that doesn't make gacha games, so it's pretty damm generous.
My guy, you didn't talk about one of the BEST FUCKING THINGS: THE MUSIC!! MY MAN, THE MUSIC!! THE MUSIC IN THIS GAME IS THE BEST OUT OF THE HOYO TITLES.
2:05
It looks really nice and I might even enjoy it if I tried, but never will I ever start a gacha
1:52 you don't have to spend real money on the signal searches but I will say the currency conversion from items you can earn instead of directly buying them is so confusing
there is a system called the pity system where if u reach a certain amount of draws u hit the soft pity where u have a higher chance of getting a 5-star character (which are mostly considered the best character) after u keep drawing u will hit the hard pity where u have a guaranteed 5-star but when u get the 5-star the game will do a coinflip where if it succeeds u will get thee 5-star of the banner but if it fails u will get a different 5-star but the next time u get i 5-star it will be a guaranteed succeesful coinflip
"And put *M A S S I V E B O O B S* in my thumbnail" best comment i ever heard
14:09 is very relatable
I spent 200 free summons on Ellen and didnt got it twice. Then I summoned right just after that another SINGLE one and got her from that one. Not that its extremely rare to get a non-guaranteed S, but I even got it right after my soul got destroyed. I love this game so much fr

Look At The Moon.
Overall, Fun game, And I've bracing myself for when we go Full Honkai And do some INSANE shit, Like fight God.
To add to the part about having the patience to not spend anything, banners are also usually rerun at some point in the future, especially for popular characters. If you're SUPER patient and a banner for a character you want comes out but you don't have enough pulls, you can always save up and wait for a rerun. The time limit on the banners isn't exactly the end of the world for getting them, it just means you might have to wait a bit longer.
One cool Ult is Koleda, it changes if she's teamed with Ben Bigger. I'd love to see more Ults that are Duo or even Trio specific.
Rowby has somehoe been perfectly timing these videos for when I get into a game lol
Btw, they give you five characters for free, you just need to level up to unlock the last two...
I get some people don't have the attention span to do the TV gameplay but I didn't hate it at all. The only one I didn't like and skipped through as much as possible were the North police investigation ones. I didn't care enough about random characters to care to play that one the way it was intended and just mashed through the text until I beat the exploration. If it was part of the main story and was about characters I actually care about, I might have done it normally. But for the small reward they give ya, it was a slog. I do like the narrative potential of showing the story in TV's and I like the dungeon crawler rogue like gameplay in hollow zero. Pretty fun once you get the hang of it but I'm happy they are adding more variety in the future after seeing their plans for 1.1
19:56 I can't blame you, the game has some of the best feeling gameplay since Devil May Cry
This game has the charm of Splatoon
Small note on pity, in hoyo, when you roll a 5 star/S Rank, you will enter a 50/50 chance, if you lose it, you’ll get a “standard” character, but your next 50/50 is automatically won aka you’re “guaranteed”. And if you win your 50/50, you get the shiny new limited character.
I wish someone told me this when I started playing Hoyo games but there's something called soft pity that starts 15 pulls before the guarantee at 90 (or 80 on the weapon banner). The chances for an S rank will rise quickly every pull after it starts which makes it near impossible to actually hit 90.
Rowby finding March's ult voice line annoying was so real
1:46 they give you 4 free characters and you can get tons of pulls at the gacha for free, i havent spent a penny on the game and im pretty sure i already have every single A rank charachter
I completely agree with what you said about ultimates. This definitely has the most lackluster ultimates of any game ive seen in this genre
If I were to describe the aesthetics of Zenless Zone Zero, I would say it's like a great mix of the aesthetics of Splatoon and Persona 4 and 5.
"I just learned what a banner is.." I understand your pain.
Love the art, and even though Nicole is a mean girl, but she is my boo.😂 Never thought i'd say something like that.
The teams that made ZZZ must have a company-allocated oil rig or gold mine because the production is absolutely insane
I mean I do love honkai star rail but the stops they must've pulled for the cutscenes and natural soul-filled dialogue goes beyond what I've ever seen from a gacha game
They give you 6 characters for free including Corin, Soukaku, and Ben - enough for 2 parties for the later content.
Hey man thanks for making this. I know its not dbd content but I like your style. Trying the game because of this video.
uhm actually, they give 5 characters for free (if I recall correctly) Anby, Billy, Nicole, Corrin (via mail), and Ben (upon chapter 2 completion)
The only problem is there isn't enough combat. like you get into combat and then instantly get yeeted out into the exploration map or some dialogue like let me play my shark girl
ngl fax bro, so much yapping
Wish there was an endless fight mode cause all i wanna do is come up with flashy combos with the characters I've spent way to much money on getting
@@TheRealDeclouif all you wanna do is theory craft, you could use the free training with the vr headset. As for the "yapping" yea sometimes it's a bit much, but the dialog is pretty entertaining so I don't mind it much
Zenless is a very fun game in my opinion. I personally havent met a character that was straight up annoying or impossible to deal with, the closest was nekomata and she was fine. The gameplay loop is fuckin stellar for me as i grew up on devil may cry. The animation is what i would call this games biggest selling point. Its amazing to look at how they stretch the bodies for the action, how impactful it all feels. The soundtrack is also really good and perfectly fits the vibe it wants to get, and the gacha... is something i wont touch on cause gacha is inherently bad there is no better or worse its bad dont try to justify it >:(. Game 9/10 -1 cause its a gacha, tho with todays gaming standards this isnt the scummiest monetization you can do... you could do a Riot games and charge half a grand for a recolor.
How dare you vilify my BROTHER, MY BRO, MY ANTON
12:09 Someone said it, hoyoverse games have the worst text tutorials I've seen in my life, I can't explain why either. You can only understand them if you already know about what it's explaining before you read it.
This game feels just like DMC but never ending content
DMC but instead of Woohoo Pizza Man it’s: Woohoo Pay-Us Man!
The words of a man who has not yet entered the Chapter 2 Interlude Grind
I never want to play a game with gacha, but I really like the aesthetics of this game. The voice acting, animation, and music are real good but I'm not spending a AAA game level of money for this.
Great immersion watching you pull for ellen
Let’s go gambling whenever I get a PC cuz ps5 isn’t looking like a option
Really wish this was just a premium game with this combat and in depth skill trees and no microtransactions or gacha, really could've been special. Something like Granblue Relink would've been awesome. Welp
The game proper starts at Wuthering Garden
Rowby is out here trying too restart my gambling addiction
I have Ben Bigger and Von Lycaon. My money is safe until they release the next Hot Beefy Furry Guy. My wallet will get annihilated if they ever release a Beefy Tiger Man.
as someone who avidly plays all of Hoyo’s games, this video was great, 10:31 was me cause I too spent to get her😭😭
They aren't wrong about gacha being a very terrible place, but not EVERY game is terrible. Genshin and Star Rail are perfectly good games without even looking at the Gacha, let alone spending money. Limbus Company is a gacha in name only and actively hostile to the idea of you spending money on it. Fate Grand Order will stab you and take your wallet.
Remember, If it's based on a recognizable IP, it's just wearing its face so it can do to you what it did to Bruce Wayne's parents.
I hate this game because if it wasn't a gacha game it would be one of my favorites 😭
It has such a charm to it

Gacha games are usually very easy for a long while and then you just hit a wall that makes you spend so long trying to get just that bit stronger to beat it and then the next wall is right after. mostly because of the annoying ass energy system making you either wait or pay to play more.
Bro missed out on Honkai’s “disappear among the sea on butterflies…”
listening to the gacha hell as a free to play is making me laugh so hard. I'm so sorry you were also cursed with anton
I usually just play these games until somthing really annoying roadblocks me from making progress without grinding a ton or paying up.
Other than that it's just about having no expectations for positive outcomes. Like i was prepared to play through the whole thing using only the cunning hares faction, however i got some good rolls so i don't have to anymore.
If you have patience and the willpower to not spend money on this game, I highly recommend it. I haven’t spent a cent and I’ve been playing for roughly a week, AND I got Ellen in the first few 10-pulls. That’s not to say your results will be the same, but it can be done without whaling.
god dammit Rowby I kicked these games like the bad habit they are and now you're convincing me to give this one a try, this is your fault.
Hey rowby awesome video, also for any gotcha video a gambling disclaimer imo is really respectable when appropriate.
Luckily I don't feel the impulse to spend money on these games, but I'm aware others aren't so good at doing this. I refuse to play these games for that reason. But the quality of these games are getting better, and that just makes people want to spend even more money.
It gets hard Rowby....it gets hard....... :Dread Wojak:
The reason ultimates are so underwhelming is because chain atacks basically are ultimates without the animation, so you basically just use your whole teams ultimates whenever the chain attack happens, thats my best guess anyway
If you like ellen, you should hope for Lycaon in your pulls causw Faction bonus, Ice + He's just broken.
hey, that's hell you walked into
To be completely honest I’m only playing because of the characters and animation specifically Billy because he’s really fun to play for me and this is the only gacha game I’m touching with my grubby hands

Btw this game costs a minimum of $90,720/year usd to whale this game. That's not counting what you have to spend on energy to max each character, their weapon, and their disk drives. You could hire 6 actual fucking maids to work for you for 40 hours a week for that much money.
… where do you find maids willing to work 40 hours a week for 15k a year? I want one!
@@Kratargon That's why you pay them that salary rather than hourly. So they can work like 20 hours a week for that kind of pay. Also, you'd be amazed at what you'd get if you just put something out on hiring sites.
@@Kratargon Right, it's this comment. I thought you were replying to another one where I went more in depth on the hiring practices and money calculations. If you just hire a single maid using like... half the money you would spend whaling for this game a year, you'd have someone working for you for like 40k a year. Have them work salary and incorporate as much of your living expenses as possible so you're basically living with maximum tax write offs. Like, give them a business card for gas and groceries, give them a business vehicle so you can write off payments and insurance for it as a business expense. You will find a significant increase in quality of life as compared to c6ing every character in a video game that has a lifespan of maybe a decade if it's lucky.
@@wagz781 the truth is, I’m not gonna dump 90k into the game either way, but thanks for the advice- a relatively affordable maid could actually be reallly nice.
@@Kratargon yeah, me neither. Though ellen is tempting me to throw money at the game for at least one copy.
its been a week and the game ended up like genshin only being popular for rule34
As someone who has been suffering from Davy Jone's Sunk cost with Hoyogames for a little over 5 years now (my flesh has sloughed off my bones ages ago, i feel only bland emptiness and hate) Genshin and HSR are not difficult.
Genshin in particular is *very* not difficult. The game is built to incentivize you to pull, and the new characters they've added have all but made all their attempts at padding out the enemy HP bars useless to help facilitate that. Only people who dedicate themselves to their old and favorite units outside of a handful few are likely still feeling the sudden spike in difficulty and only if they haven't bothered to actually grind to *build* any of their characters (Which is far less likely for people who are dedicated to maxing out the dmg potential of their favorites anyways) and haven't bothered saving any premium currency that they throw at you per patch to do said wishing. The *only* difficulty in Genshin comes from their "endgame" challenges, Spiral Abyss (which, *ill get to it*) and the new Imaginarium Theatre, which also isn't actually difficult.
Spiral Abyss rotations provide buffs per floor. As long as you have 2 fully built teams, 9 times out of 10 you'll be fine getting up to floor 12. Floor 12 is the only real challenge, where there are no buffs, the enemies do absurd dmg, frequently have area of effect conditions, and have the most *bloated* HP bars known to man. Seriously, look at any single Abyss leak stat sheet and these bosses have more HP than the overworld specialty talent farming bosses, sometimes *4x as much HP* . That's also assuming they don't choose enemies with stupid animation lag that wont let you hit them during the *very timed floor encounters,* which is a problem considering the time clear is the only way you'll actually get the bonus premium currency. Spiral Abyss is a DPS check, and always has been. Nothing hard about it other than how hard you swipe and grind each day. Imaginarium Theatre on the other hand is the "Endgame for Casuals." Sure, there are certain conditions you have to meet to get all stickers on a stage, but you can receive all rewards without resetting every stage trying to grind that shit out. Fuck, I bullshit it with literally half and unbuilt characters and the 8 they provide you with. Anyone who says its hard is probably complaining they can't perfect their sticker sheet and isn't actually discussing the actual difficulty of clearing.
HSR is different from other hoyo games in that they're really not trying to hide their power creep anymore, a trend they have begun to implement partly thanks to genshin i like to think. Every new patch has a character with a new higher number they can do which makes the new content piss east to do as long as you sit to grind, and this game is about as casual about the grind as you can get. Don't play for a week, build up a backlog, then pop that baby open on your phone, press auto, and grind while playing an actually good game. Or genshin, why not. Same thing with genshin, they throw free tickets at you all the damn time and just playing the game and the events every patch means there's no reason not to throw wishes at ye new shiny girl/boy. Basically, do this once a week and you'll have a fully decked out DPS in no time ripe and read for the next patch for them to mow through, and will probably take at least another 2 before you begin to feel any sweat at the encounters in base game. However, there are several places the game does *try* to challenge you, specifically through the endless Simulated Universe, which you can choose to make as easy or as hard as you want and will need to grind for Planar Ornaments. But no, it's really not that bad as long as you actually build your shit.
TLDR: Genshin and HSR are not hard games. They're gacha games and will use the limited resources for grinding to push you into easier methods, like wishing to get a basic power upgrade through new characters. Even then, its really not that hard on either case if you have an IQ higher that 6
Yes you are skipping panels, but i think you can rewatch them if you so want to
12:04 This is also the main reason why my friend (a gay man) doesn't play this game, despite being addicted to other gacha games. Not sure if I should read into the implications there, but I definitely don't want to!
Honestly pretty good game. My favorite hoyoverse story so far. The early combat is kind of one button mash though.
I like zzz because Ellen and Billy exist (also because its the only hoyo game im not late to playing so i get to see all the updates)
