Silverado Headlight and Dimmer Switch Replacement

Here we take you through the process of changing the headlight switch or dimmer switch on a 2006 Silverado. The old dimmer switch was faulty and causing the interior light to dim or go out all together. The process should be the same on 99 to 06 Silverados. Great video and thank you. Mine has been bad for years, and after seeing this I decided to switch it out. It took all of 5 minutes and no dimmer issues anymore!

My interior lights on the dash go off and on and get real low when I'm driving. Could this be the dimmer switch causing this?

Mine would flash intermittent or sometimes wouldn't work at all so I say that could be it

Im not an expert but sounds to me like you have either a wiring issue or could be the lever on the column isnt functioning like its supposed to check online is your best bet!

Would bad dimmer switch cause headlights to totally go out?

My whole switch went out and the headlights would not work or would flicker on and off after changing the whole unit out everything is good as new hope this helps.

@@joeysautodiy7740 yea thx its gotta be that dimmer went through every fuse n relay..n fuse for headlights and 4 wheel drive kept drawing power and theure both on the same switch so im changing that next...thx tho

@cadet bonespurs No problem shop around I think I paid around 35 bucks for a replacement and if your in a bind just use amazon if you have prime to get it faster.

Just saying, I’d recommend removing the bezel completely. Reduce the risk of breaking it 🤷🏽‍♂️
