Wow. Thank you for making this amazing video, Aaron. Just a fun, (but sad) little fact; Dave- our dad, had plans on returning to the Norwegian Jade in the summer/fall of 2023, but sadly he couldn’t return as he ran into some medical troubles around that same time. Unfortunately, his destiny had other plans for him, but there’s no doubt in my mind that his energy and spirit will be making a visit to the Jade, and to all the wonderful folks- like yourself who he met during his time on the Jade. We are so proud and honoured to hear about the amazing, long-lasting impressions that our dad left on people from our hometown and from around the world. This is truly so awesome to see. Thanks again for this thoughtful video. - Evan & Becky M
Hi Evan and Becky. I am so happy to hear from you and to know that you appreciated the video. I was unsure about posting anything but I knew Dave would want his music to continue to be heard. I hope you are both doing as well as you can be at this challenging time. Please keep in touch.
Thanks so much Aaron. The love for Dave stretches far and wide. I am a musician as well and was lucky enough to work with Dave. You have summed him up so well. I’ve heard many stories from friends of mine who were on cruises and shared many stories with me of how well he was received. You sum him up perfectly..
I got the good fortune to meet and play guitar with Dave in 2014 in Goose Bay. It’s hard to put into words how great a guy he is. I say is because, wherever he is now, I am quite sure he remains a great guy. I played at his pub in Labrador. Standing next to me at the men’s urinal, he said: well, you’ve done that more than once. Laugh???? We almost cried. The light of our world has dimmed with our loss.
Thank you so much for this lovely tribute, Aaron. You have really captured the spirit of our brother; he was kind and warm, and helped so many people throughout his life. My two sisters and I, along with the help of our two brothers, cared for Dave during his illness. We are happy to have had the privilege of being with him. He was so proud of his time on the Jade and was really excited about returning. His experience on this beautiful ship, with its amazing people, was one of the highlights of his life. Thank you for your heartfelt tribute to Dave. It is a comfort to those who miss him. We won’t forget his caring, sweet soul. ❤️ We always knew how lucky we were to be his sisters and brothers. And we were always so proud of him.
Hello Aaron, That's a very beautiful tribute to Dave. We are all still in shock and saddened by his passing. He will be missed by all who had the true privilege to know him. We still have his music and fond memories. Thank you for sharing your memories of this beautiful man.
Thanks for the wonderful tribute Aaron. I’m sure that Dave’s family as well as all of us Newfoundlanders here watching this are most grateful for your video. Dave was a friend to all, a wonderful songwriter and musician here in Newfoundland Canada. His passing is a shock to us all. Dave was exactly as you described him. He was larger than life. He was the most humble, thoughtful and giving person you could ever meet. Having performed with Dave a few times I can tell you that he had that performers gift of captivating an audience with his first song. There’s really no words to describe what he meant to us all. His loss leaves a deep hole in our hearts and in the musical community.
Thank you for making this video. You summed it up…Dave was a great guy and wonderful friend and a very talented musician. Absolutely devastating hearing of his passing.
Great video. Dave was a great friend of mine. So many in Newfoundland right now are going through it but he would want everyone to have a sociable and party it out. Big plans for that for a celebration of life for him coming up. 🫶🏼 Thanks for this.
Hi thank you and I’m sorry for your loss. I know that Dave would want the music to keep playing and that’s partly why I made this video. His songs need to be heard even though he is not with us.

The curtain may have come down. However, the music and Dave's pressence and unconditional love for his Family and Friends will live on forever.

Very sad indeed and please tell me he didnt die suddenly?
I believe it was a year long battle with cancer but we hadn't spoken for a while. I wish I had known he was sick.
