And even before quake, people were using explosives to reach plataforms back in the first doom game. The same is true about the railgun, it was such a popular weapon that it turned into a new game mode (railgun only). We are talking mid 90s (quake) vs mid 2000s (team fortress).

Honestly, people who still meme about Overwatch vs TF2 in this day and age are not to be taken seriously, given that both games aren't in an especially desirable state. Anything that either side says is pure projection. Personally, I love both games, and I would love to see a collab between them. Just imagine Overwatch and TF2 taking the piss out of each other's writing styles, for example.
I feel like a few of these are a bit of a stretch. Like "Get off my lawn" could just be another "Soldier's an old dude" joke and "Stop me if you've heard this one before" is a pretty common fraise with the song being a weird thing for Junkrat to reference. It's like saying if someone uses a lariat it's a reference to Zangief from street fighter lol.
Here is another one, but it only works when you set the audio to german: when you nano boost Soldier 76 he says "Es gibt nur eine Geschwindigkeit: meine" ("There is only one speed: mine"), which is a line from the movie Chronicles of Riddick. That's a reference to the german voice actor of Soldier 76 also doing the voice over for Vin Diesel.
Honestly, it's amazing that TF2 is either canon and likely played by some of the characters(judging by the voicelines) meaning it still exists and is popular, or that Blizzard is making a bow to its predecessor and rival.
Not enough LOTR references and one Zelda reference would make me oh so happy. But really, everyone's a critic and they packed a TON of really cool references into the voicelines. This is one of the redeeming qualities of Overwatch 2 and Blizzard games in general!
I love the Lord of the Rings refrence (because I’m a huge LotR fan) but if you think about it if the refrence was to the books you could date it back to almost 200 years ago in the Overwatch universe.

I think some of these voice lines are phrases that have been around for a long time and probably can't be traced back to single reference. Very good video, though!
