@@had3042 it’s not facts, the first one was a Belgian Ardennes, the following 2 were shires, the 4 I don’t know as it didn’t show a close up but it wasn’t a shire nor a thoroughbred

Did you know that draft horses were bred to carry knights in armor? The armor was so heavy, they needed big, strong horses. Love these beautiful animals.

Draft were built to pull and work in the fields, or to be eaten. Rustic ponies like Welsh ponies were built to carry knights.
Draft horses have less carrying capacity due to their muscle construction (a lot in the shoulders, rear end, and neck). Saddle horses can carry 10 to 15% of their body weight and drafts are advised to carry not more than 10% to 13%.
Warm bloods were actually were bred more for this purpose. They are a cross behind a riding horse and a draft horse
Yeah! They used to use Friesians because Friesians are more of a heavier horse. Which mean they can carry a lot but they are also very fast!❤
Shire horses and Clydesdales used to be used by the breweries to deliver barrels of beer on a dray. They are magnificent.

Scottish Clydesdale drafthorses were around centuries before Budweiser beer was ever a thing.

My grandad used ta be a drayman for Tetleys Brewery here in Sheffield, it was an amazing sight seeing the horses all kitted up and my grand father driving the wagon.

My uncle was a coalman, driving a horse & cart in the East End of Glasgow during the 1950s&60s
My sister trained as an apprentice farrier, keeps a big black Friesian horse.

Altho I love every horse breed draft horses have always held a very special place in my heart since I was a toddler. They're probably one of the most calm & laid back breeds of horses there are & a joy to own, train & ride. In my experience they truly are as gentle as they are big!❤️🐎🐴

They're gentle because only the best animals were kept as breeding stock when tractors were first used as replacements for them. Before then some of the horses were not so amenable.

they are so majestic these horses. Years ago up in New England the lumber Jacks used these horses to pull logs out of the places machines couldn't go.
I believe they still may use them in areas of the White Mts.
I love all horses they are a special gift from the Creator.
People still hitch em up and pull logs today.
We still use them in the UK to pull tree logs out of forests ❤

The one in the field at the end looked like a smaller riding breed. One of the warmbloods or a Thoroughbred. Not a Shire.
It's just hilarious how each one of these horses has 100 people, all claiming the horse is this or that breed. No 2 agreeing, but all adamant as hell that they are right and everyone else is wrong, and using dumb stuff to justify their opinion.
There are so many hundreds of breeds! You can't judge any of them for sure without thwir registration papers, or a DNA test, or a list of their dams and sires, called their lineage. Their appearance is NOT enough to tell their breed, and neither is their height.
Even breeds like Clydesdales, that used to be only 1 color, are now allowed to have other colors. And you used to be able to judge by eye when a horse was an Appaloosa, but not any more, because that coloring is now in other horses too.
So nearly all of the self proclaimed experts here are wrong. If even 1 of them got it right, it was solely by fluke.
In fact the sign of an expert in most things is their willingness to admit that they DON'T know more than they do know.
