I wish that they would have kept Lupin and Tonks alive. After everything they'd been through together, and Lupin getting over his fears of being a parent, their deaths just felt so anticlimactic. Still, perhaps that was Rowling's underlying point, that almost anyone could die in a war.

What irks me about Remus being killed by Dolohov is the fact that Harry’s defeated Dolohov several times over and could have killed him at any of those times. However Bellatrix beating Tonks is 100% believable. That witch’s skill is insane.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: the disappointing deaths of Lupin and Tonks always struck me as being the fault of bad writing choices, more than any character's actions. Essentially, it was the opposite of plot armor.
From the beginning, I always sense a confrontation looming beetween Lupin and Fenrir Greyback, and we never got it. In fact, not only did Lupin die needlessly, but so did his wife, and Greyback never really got what was coming to him.

I can easily see Bellatrix besting just about anyone because that witch is crazy and has the skill to back it up, but Dolohov killing Lupin with no assistance just seems unacceptable. I would have bet on either Tonks or Remus winning going one on one with Dolohov. He just seems like a lower-tier death eater.

    • @Bballfan1992
      @Bballfan1992 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

To be fair Dolohov was a legitimate threat to most people. He may have seemed like a low tier soldier, but he was stronger than majority of Voldermort’s supporters. Underestimating your opponent is the number one way you die.
While I do believe Lupin was strong enough to go against him and win, him dying is definitely not an improbability either. They were more evenly matched. Bellatrix was definitely insane and strong, and would have beat either one of them.

I actually cried mid-way while watching this. Remus too was my favorite character - my most favorite, in fact. He just lost so much in life and was seen as a monster by many who knew nothing, yet he remained humble and continued to help others in any way he can. He reminds me so much of Kenshin Himura from the anime Rurouni Kenshin, except the fact that Lupin didn't get to livr with the woman he so waited for in his life. It's just really heartbreaking comsidering how Lupin and Tonks were originally gonna survive. I mean, sure - on the bright side, Remus was reunited with his friends whom he considered as family, Sirius, James and Lily, but there could have been much more. He lost the first set of people who accepted him for who he is, and when someone finally did once again after a long time, both he and that person died. Remus lived an unfair life and he didn't live long enough to see the fruits of his labor. If he lived, he could have been the permanent DADA teacher and maybe the prejudice against wizards with lycanthrophy would decrease. There's just so much wasted potential. Remus Lupin was actually one of the characters that made me love Harry Potter more; he deserved so much better. Greyback didn't even got what should have been the punishment for the things he had done.

You have to keep in mind before Teddy was born Remus was malnourished from living amount the werewolves for Dumbledore. That left him exhausted and weak. Then they found out Bellatrix was actively hunting them because Voldemort thought it horrible for a witch to marry a werewolf. The two of them further exhausted themselves putting up protective charms o hidden and protect Teddy and Tonks, not to mention their work for the order. They went into the battle exhausted and weak. I think they both knew they wouldn’t survive that battle, yet they went.

  • @sifilore9462
    @sifilore9462 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

If they stayed home then there would've been more casualties since despite being rusty, they can still hold their own. Every person in the battle matters. Take one or two legs of a chair away, and the whole thing falls. If it was a fragile thing instead (ex. a glass statue), then it'll shatter. Like I said, they've been rusty but still strong. Edward Remus "Teddy" Lupin is Harry's godson so he can tell more about his parents and Teddy is old enough and ready. For now as a small child, Harry and his grandmother Andromeda will tell him some small things.

I honestly think Remus could be a good doctor, in other words a PhD or PSYD. I honestly think that he could also work with students with special education needs. Let’s put it this way, if you were the coordinator of the Blindness And Low Vision program at Missouri State University in Springfield Missouri, yes I would take his classes, and all of them. He’s a great teacher, he’s a great man, and I just love him. The actor is great too. He seems like a father figure for Harry, which is good. I hate that he died, but would’ve loved if he would’ve lived.

Lupin was killed by Dolohov, a character that Harry could've killed numerous times. Had Harry killed Dolohov instead of constantly disabling him, Lupin at least mightve lived and had he lived, he might have been able to save Tonks. The death of Lupin at the very least is 100% Harry's fault.

@@Karol-ei1fc There is a big difference between what Sirius did and what Harry did.
Sirius thought Pettigrew was an ally and recommended James and Lily to ask him for help. Did this contribute to their death? Yes. Was it a stupid decision based on what Sirius knew? I don't think so, although you could argue that he should have known Peter better, but the same could be said about James.
Harry knew Dolohov was an enemy and had injured several of his friends and allies in the past including Mad-Eye and Hermione and would continue fighting for Voldemort. Did this contribute to Lupin's death? Yes. Was it a stupid decision based on what Harry knew? Yes, particularly considering the last death eater whose life Harry had spared had played a vital role in Voldemort's return.
And why would blaming Harry for Lupin's death mean Harry didn't care about him? Harry clearly cared about Sirius and yet he blames himself for Sirius death, because he allowed Voldemort to lure him to the department of mysteries.

The chief reason at least in my opinion is the Prime Minister of magic Cornelius Fudge.
    Why you ask.
It’s very simple because instead of taking the Actions that Dumbledore recommended I Tom Riddle a.k.a. Voldemort would’ve never been able to get as powerful as he did and a second chance to destroy the entire Wizarding world but instead he just completely blew everybody off including Harry and Dumbledore he ignored all the warning signs he cared more about holding onto his job then doing his job and overall That’s why he’ll forever be known as the man who stepped aside and did nothing in a time in that time of crisis when they needed him to be a leader. If he had then So many lives including Remus and Tonks as well as Albus Dumbledore Fred Weasley Sirius Black Cedric Digory Dobey and so many others could’ve been spared.

The dilemma you have given is the dilemma facing soldiers in war - should I be at home with my family, or fight for the future of my people? This decision may or may not be driven by delusion.
In my opinion, the single biggest weakness in the Harry Potter series is that Harry, Ron and Hermione do not make the decision to use the killing curse. At the Battle of Hogwarts, it is ridiculous the defenders do not use the killing curse, they are now soldiers in a war fighting for the future against great evil. This decision could have been a pivotal point in the storyline and introduced moral complexities and dilemmas. Does it damage the soul to kill in war? If it does should a moral person accept the damage to their soul for the greater good? Understanding they have been wounded by the experience and cannot be made innocent again.

In my opinion, the only logical reason that Bellatrix was able to kill Tonks is that Tonks was still quite weak from giving birth. If she had fully recovered from birth, it probably would’ve been the other way around. Tonks would have finished Bellatrix. I don’t understand how Dolohov managed to kill Lupin though, maybe he saw Tonks dead before that, and he was not concentrated because of grief, but I’m not sure.

And when I don't have Mum anymore, I'll be so upset I'll want my memory as affected as Lockhart's, so I can relive my childhood over and over. I don't regret my attitude, either. Being an adult is not all it's cracked up to be. God's will makes me angry, so I have been an atheist for a long time(I only go to church on special occasions, for the pomp and circumstance, not because I believe). I'm not sorry about my atheism. He didn't prevent the extreme bullying of his friends, and he even continued on with them after Sirius used him as a murder weapon. He tries to abandon his pregnant wife because of his lycanthropy, and he goes to fight because of, again, his lycanthropy believing his wife and son are away from the danger. I also think he was stupid to pull that boggart prank on Snape whom he depended on for his wolfsbane potion. No, I can't stand Lupin.

I disagree with implications and notion they dies due being rusty or unprepared. To anyone who has ever been in a proper fight or any sporting competition, knows alot of factors can influence the outcome. We don't know much about the fight or the condition. We do know that it was chaos, spells flying everywhere and people getting injured or killed all around. With all that it takes only take a brief second for the tied to turn. Something could have fallen near by, forcing them to get out of the way but as result lost sight of their opponent for a brief sec. Which was all they need to strike. In corse of the fight the footing could gave way again providing a split second for the opponents to strike. And then their the face we don't know if in corse of their duel they see the other get hurt or even possibly hurt which would most likely get them to loose focus with fear or anger- thereby setting themselves up for a strike from a their opponents. My point is the out come of a duel/ fight is often a impacted by several factors. - all this being said good video and points raised.

Uh.... "Remus meets the woman of his dreams and falls in love, with Dora?!!" Based on what from the books does he love her, prior to their son being born? Seriously! WHAT?! He never shows any desire for her, he is always arguing against it, or acting depressed about the situation. He never wanted to marry her, or anyone really... But he never showed any desire for her.
Dora whined to Molly, and Molly pressured Remus once she knew that Dora was not going to go for Bill.
Remus was very much of the opinion that Dora was too young for him, in addition to his being dangerous.
Remus even tried to run away from the marriage (and at Bill and Fleur's wedding, Remus showed that he was not happy about being with Dora; he put on a happy front, but then turned away and his face sank), until Harry called him a coward....Harry convinced Remus that he had to take responsibility for his choices, even if he was not happy with his choices...that's the only reason Remus went back to Dora.
Once Remus saw his son, he fell in love with Teddy and then chose to love Dora.
I'm glad Remus and Dora's "Til death do us part" came quickly, it was a marriage that never should have been.
Though I love both characters, I just don't like that Remus was forced into marrying someone he felt was a kid.

I have a question. Did a greater understanding of parenting spark this video? I know when I had my kids, all children became my kids. Sort of. Children's welfare became so much more important to me.

It was rather idealistic, unrealistic, and immature to have the Golden Trio NOT use the killing curse in the war. Had the Hogwarts army killed a few death Esther’s instead of simply stunning them, less people would have died.

I have always been of the school of thought that one should have definitely died and one stay alive. In my view it made sense that Tonks died as she's an Auror. It's literally her chosen path to put her life on the line to capture and/or kill wanted dark witches and wizards. So her death is not at all shocking to me. I jus' hate the fact she died at the hands of Bellatrix. That's the second good blood related Black that she's killed and that jus' hurts me to my core. But Tonks death in general didn't sadden me as much as Remuses. He should have lived if for no other reason than that he coulda been the link between were-kind and wizardkind. He could have shown the wizarding world what it looks like to show someone in his situation compassion & kindness. He could have come back as the DADA teacher now that the "curse" had been lifted with the death of voldermort and been the greatest DADA ever. Then of course he could have been there for Teddy and to a smaller degree her mom Andromeda. This coulda been the beginning of something great but instead he was whacked.

Equally, I’m kind of happy Remus died because he was reunited with his two best friends James and Sirius

I don't think you need to justify their deaths tbh. It was not in their character to stay out of the fight. Plus, Bellatrix and Dolohiv are probaly the 2 most powerful death eaters there are

If Lupin choice too remain with the Order and still was a combative fighter I don't think it would have change anything.

To be fair Lastrange and Dolohov were some of the most skilled deatheaters, Voldemort even trained Bellatrix himself and she was very motivated to kill Tonks bc of her sister marrying Ted, and Dolohov even won against Molly’s brothers and Moody, and he had created his own spell.
